White Sox vs. Texas
I was wondering the same thing. Power lefties like Teixeira usually love to hit soft tossing righties like Sullivan.

I remember seeing a post about how it has changed but I'm not sure how it's supposed to be done. I thought we now use so we can use tags like but I can't get it to work right.

Any college kids in here?
I know some classes it is important to go to but for me you have to decide for yourself how important it is. Go for the first couple weeks and see how good the lecturer is and how relevant his material is to the reading etc. You can usually get a great gauge of the course at midterm because exam stuff could be all out of the book or all out of the lecture or somewhere in between. I usually do alot better in classes after the first exam because I know exactly what to study.

Mark Mulder
You know, Mark Mulder flat out dominates every time he pitches against the Sox. I think he has 2 CGs against us this year. All that said, he is probably one of my favorite pitchers in all of baseball and I love watching him pitch. Now for the bad news: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1601345

Cardinals make 2 decent moves
I've seen a few box scores where Hitchcock looked like he struggled a bit. Granted he has been up against some tough lineups and no one in the Yankees pen is really pulling their weight right now. I feel like the Cardinals can do no wrong against the Cubs. They have 8 more games against the Cubs and I don't think the Cubs have taken a series from them all year.

Playoff Races
I don't really think this matchup game can help us determine which team will win in a head-to-head series. Maybe if we matchup the hitters of one team against the pitchers of the other, that might work. Just my 2cents

One of those teams plays in this very city. I hope that doesn't mean they are playoff bound.

August 31/September 1
Unless I am confused (which is possible) I do not believe there is such a thing as a waiver trade deadline. Trades can be made, but aren't likely since playoff rosters have to be set September 1st. I wonder if teams like the pirates even bother to set playoff rosters........? Well Detroit is mathematically eliminated. For fun they could put their single A team on the playoff roster.

Jeremy Reed
Isn't Rusty injured?? I've always liked Rusty Greer myself.

What's it take to win the AL Cy Young?
It's been done by a few relievers including Mark Davis of San Diego. I'm having a harder time finding a starter that can match this 2003 E-Lo season. Especially if you take baseball salary inflation into account.

What's it take to win the AL Cy Young?
I know you were joking but out of curiosity I decided to check on Maddux. He made $4.2 million in 1992 dollars according to baseball reference. That's a far cry from $650,000. I'm gonna try and find the answer to my own question. Stay tuned.

Tonight's victory
Oh ok I just don't think of him that way. Especially confusing if you have a Tony G and a Tommy G. I'll just keep calling him Flash.

Breaking News: Sox acquire Scott Sullivan
Borchard can't be a PTBNL can he?? I thought there were some rules about these things. Very complicated from what I remember.
-
so who is the new guy we got?
Sullivan may end up wanting to go back to Cincy as he is FA after this season unless he really takes a liking to Chicago. Also, if Adkins goes down when Sullivan comes, who goes down when Koch comes off the DL??

Who likes the sound of first place
Here are some teams that are at or below .500 on the road: Boston Kansas City Oakland Florida Philadelphia Houston St. Louis San Francisco Arizona Los Angeles Granted most these teams are right around .500 while the Sox are way below. If they can manage to stay afloat on the road for the rest of this season I will be happy. Plus no more trips to AL West cities on the schedule.

What's it take to win the AL Cy Young?
If E-Lo wins, knock on wood, he may be the lowest paid Cy Young winner since...well alot longer than I've been around.

Miguel Olivo
A couple years down the road I think Miguel would make an excellent 2-hitter if he can get those bunts and that strike zone covered. Teams that can run a catcher out there as an offensive and defensive weapon are very very lucky in my book.
