I'd like to see the breakdown on that.

If you could have 1 player back

I think KW has said in the past that it's the opposite--they offered BA and Arizona didn't want him. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) We need to cut ties with Tyrus, it speaks volumes that a rookie can come in and outplay him like Gibson has. Their stats are pretty close. I think Tyrus has had the better season narrowly. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) Hell I'd rather have Richard. Why? -
Will the White Sox anchor a new sports radio station in Chicago
JorgeFabregas replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Are ratings truly booming at WMAQ and WMVP? A couple of years ago the ratings were so bad that people were wondering if Chicago could support two sports radio stations. -
Dye says "crowded outfield" prolonged his slump

White Sox sign Orber Moreno to minor league contract

Probably organizational filler. They should've signed Onie Ponder (who is currently available). -
Dye says "crowded outfield" prolonged his slump
JorgeFabregas replied to winninguglyin83's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rios played his first game on August 11th. JD had more ABs in August than he did every month except for July. He missed 4 games in August--the same amount of games as he missed in June and one more than he missed in May. One of the games he missed was before Rios got here. So was he being shelved as a pinch hitter in August? No--he had at least 4 PAs in every game he played in. Dye's playing time was curtailed in September (63 ABs), but by that time he was in a long slump. His not playing had more to do with his own performance and the White Sox being mostly out of the race than it had to do with Alex Rios. I do think he can still hit, but he may have to be willing to DH in order to start the 2010 season with a starting gig. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 9, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Duensing's numbers in AAA - 57 games, 56 starts, 330.2 IP, 4.00 ERA (4.60 RA/9), 1.32 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9, 5.6 K/9, 2.5 K/BB, 0.8 HR/9. Looking at his peripherals from last season - 1.37 WHIP, 0.8 HR/9, 3.3 BB/9, 5.7 K/9 - I would say it's a near impossibility for him to repeat his 3.64 ERA from last season. Give the league a second time around on him, and he'll be back in the bullpen or AAA in no time. I understand that depth is nice, but if he (Pavano) puts up an ERA of 5 again, I won't have any problems with it. Why look at Duensing's peripherals and not Pavano's? Pavano's peripherals were very good last year. He had a FIP of 4.13 and a very good K/BB ratio. It looks like he may have made a change in his pitching philosophy, too, with increased use of his changeup, which is one of his two plus pitches.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb Yanks signed Marcus Thames and officially signed Randy Winn. Thames to a minor league deal. If Thames is healthy, he wouldn't have been a bad idea for DH.

Scott Lee Cohen has some serious problems

Who is he going to get his money back from? Did a political consulting firm guarantee that he wasn't an unelectable jerk? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) LaHood is a Daley guy. Maybe someone with more knowledge of Chicago machine politics can explain, but after some quick research I'm not sure how a Republican from Peoria who liked to bring home the pork is a Chicago machine politician. I saw some articles saying that his appointment would be beneficial to the Daley admin. since he supports expanding O'Hare, but does that really make him part of the Chicago machine?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) I loved his kids crying. They looked like they were 12. WTF are they crying about? Do they even know what's going on? And did they do the presser at a bar? Yes, during half-time of the Superbowl. I haven't watched the video yet, but my wife told me he looked boozed up and teary-eyed. -

Exactly. I have a sneaking suspicion that some on the list may be rated completely accurately.

A big chunk of the defense budget goes to expensive weapons systems that have nothing to do with the war on terror. Fighter jets and that sort of thing. Those costs continue to go up. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=18764753 -

The Knicks would have a legit beef with David Lee not making it, but Mo Williams? He doesn't deserve to make it and no one cares. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) Why do cubans seem to have really odd names or really simple one? I would guess it's because the US and the USSR have both had major influence over Cuba at different times in Cuba's history (EG a Russian name like Alexei and an English name like Leslie). Edit: I guess Dayan is a Hebrew name. A variant of Daniel. I got nothin' on that one.

Question about MLB.com Blackout rules
JorgeFabregas replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) Counter question: if I subscribe, will I get every game in Virginia? Everything I hear about the coverage revolves around blackouts; I don't want to spend all that money and not get all of the games. Go here to see which teams games are blacked out in your area: http://www.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp#blackout For instance, I put in a zip code for Arlington, VA (don't know where in VA you live) and it said that Nationals and Orioles games are blacked out--so you would not be able to watch the games v. the Orioles if you are in the blackout area. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) I also think his disastrous stint as SS, turned a lot of people off on him, and severely detracted from his overall range numbers. I’d love to isolate his UZR from only 2b, and see the numbers i'd get. His UZR/150 at 2B was a very good 14.5. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...amp;position=2B

QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) I'm somewhat confused by this, as well. During the season, almost every bit of feedback I'd get on Thome was that fans were sick of his HR-or-nothing game and that they needed to trade/release/bench him. And now that he may not be coming back, people think the Sox need to sign him? "The fans want this and now they want that" is a pretty sticky statement. Which fans? We're not monolithic. I've always liked Thome. Even fans who don't like him may prefer him to the alternative (more ABs for would-be bench players).
