  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 08:53 AM) I don't like how much of actual plot they appeared to show. I still worry this is an empire strikes back remake. IGN seems very convinced that entire trailer was meant to misdirect, as they would other wise give away WAY to many major scenes, like Kylo killing Leia, and Kylo and Rey making nice.
  2. Finally going to win this week. 3rd most points scored in a 12-team league....1-3 record. But I'll get win #2 this week and finish with the 2nd highest points scored of the week.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) I hate leagues that require you to start a TE. They are so worthless. There are typically 2 or 3 decent TE performances per week in the entire league. I'm LOVING Zack Ertz this year.
  4. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Oct 8, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) Same thing happens with my belly button. I'll never forget what color shirt I wore after I've picked out that daily belly button lint.
  5. f***, I better update my Away Message.
  6. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Prep Baseball Report came out with their Top 100 high school draft prospects. You need a subscription to see the whole thing, but they show the top 10 for free. 1) Matthew Liberatore LHP 2) Brice Turang SS 3) Ethan Hankins RHP 4) Jarred Kelenic OF 5) Mason Denaburg C/RHP 6) Slade Cecconi RHP 7) Nander De Sedas SS 8) Alek Thomas OF 9) Triston Casas 1B 10) Cole Wilcox RHP This is the first time I'm seeing Liberatore at #1 and they are definitely the highest on Alek Thomas. It appears they are lower on Kumar Rocker than most people. No offense, and I know this isn't for me anyway, but I have a hard time caring about these rankings until the season starts for these kids next year. It's wasted effort for me to worry about whose stock will stay the exact same in 8 months. I do enjoy seeing the names though, as I can at least familiarize myself with names to watch for on Twitter.
  7. If anyone is interested, here's the video of him opening his best man gifts...
  8. Decided to sift through the James Shields trade thread from 2016.....Found a few nuggets.... QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Hopefully people don't start doing the why we gave up Tatis like why we have with thompson for frazier QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) I don't even want to think this way, but Shields is 10x more valuable the trade asset that he was with the Padres now that they're paying him. Sox could lose the next 20 games and turn around and trade him for a package better than EJ/Tatis Jr. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) They didn't give up anything of note. Tatis is a long shot to make the majors by 2020 and EJ was done here and had no value. They got a solid #3-#4 starter that eats innings and he costs around $10 million per season. That's what those guys cost. He's also an asset moving forward because of how much the Padres are playing. The trade was a no brainer. Complaining about it is in fact quite stupid. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) And they will sign many other players similar to Tatis in a month. There were some actually bummed about losing FTJ though... QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) Rosenthal confirms. Sucks we had to give up Tatis QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) While Tatis is a long-shot, he is still a very talented long-shot for his age and someone we committed valuable international FA resources to and who has received pretty positive early reviews. I don't consider that a nobody. If it was just Johnson, I'd have less to complain about, but Tatis was what this org had to make strides on (actually getting meaningful contributions from its international front and while he was 5 years down the road, it takes a long time to do things like this) and it takes time to build up a system (something we continue to not do). And this is coming from someone who is all for leveraging prospects for trading and filling other needs. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) For the record, I think EJ will be better in SD than Shields was. I also think Shields won't be any better than Latos or Gonzalez. And I think it's dumb to give up a young guy like Tatis Jr for a fringe starter. And this guy absolutely nailed it... QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 06:37 PM) Watch Shields become a Danks-like Albatross and Tatis Jr. become an uber prospect. Sox gonna Sox. And just for transparency, I was on the record saying I was fine with the trade.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan18 @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) No one actually knows what happened the Sox and Chance. For all we know, he wanted to be paid X to wear the hat or he'd wear his own, and the Sox said "no, that's okay". Regarding MCD, Lolla performers have a non-compete, they can't perform within X miles for so many months following the festival. So many MCD returns next year, who knows. I really hope it returns, it was incredible, with a massive list of popular performers.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 07:17 AM) He was more than a lottery ticket, and he "just happened to explode" such that within 2 months of the trade he was a top 100 prospect and rising fast. Within 2 months? I earliest list I can find him on was in January of 2017, 6 months after the trade and still before he had played a single game in the US. And Keith Law was the only one to put him on any list. Baseball America did not even have him listed in the Padres top 10 prospects coming in to 2017. "Prospects 1500" ranked him as the Padres 37th best prospect coming in to 2017. To say "just happened to explode" is putting it extremely mildly.
  11. While it would be hella fun, I'd prefer they give that money to Manny Machado. He's kind of a punk, but he will only be 26, has a pair of 6+ WAR seasons, plays amazing defense, is a 30+ HR hitter, and has been mostly very durable.
  12. QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 10:36 PM) We offered the future #1 prospect for James shields No we didn't. We offered a very raw, lottery ticket who happened to explode in to a top 5 mlb prospect. That's like saying the Sox one time traded a 60 WAR, 600+ HR monster for an old and washed up George Bell.
  13. I gave it a 9 simply because I feel the Yankees deal was a little light, in retrospect. I was excited for Rutherford, but his performance post-trade is a good reminder of not sticking too much trade-return value in to one guy. Clarkin is an interesting piece, but a reclamation project at this point. Tito Polo actually had good results, but I'm tempering enthusiasm.
  14. Maitan AND their 2017 2nd RD pick Drew Waters, who was apparently signed for under slot and then offered a car to make up for it. https://www.talkingchop.com/2017/6/12/15789...der-drew-waters
  15. For the sake of the bets I made in Vegas.... Yankees vs. Nationals for the World Series. I'll win $145 if the Yankees win, I'll win $130 if the Nationals win.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) I'm going to be 0-4 with the second highest points total. I hate FF. Jesus, you got me beat. I am considering instituting a perk next season where not only does the highest scorer get money each week, but also the highest scoring loser as well, so if you get f***ed, you at least get money for it. I would have won twice already.
  17. The new Macklemore CD is very very enjoyable.
  18. Will more than likely finish the week with the 2nd most points.....and a loss. In my 12-team league, I am sitting around 3rd most points for this season, but a 1-3 record. I think all 3 losses were to the highest scoring team of the week. I hate my luck.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) You're right it did, they will now give up a 3rd round pick if they are under the tax threshold, which the Sox will be. My apologies. https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2016/11/30/138...ails-luxury-tax Let 'er rip then! Welp, nevermind, top 10 be damned.
  20. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) Many thanks to flavum and chili for keeping us updated all season long on this 2017 tank run. Appreciate it dudes. Hey, no problem. It was nice to follow something in the standings this year, especially once we sold off all the tradeable assets. I suspect this thread will be around next season, but maybe it won't appear until late summer when this team is lingering around 6-8 games under .500. I wouldn't mind a top 10 pick next year, and I highly doubt we come anywhere near top 3 again.
  21. Sox lose, Reds lose, Tigers lose, Phillies win 0.5 games ahead of the Reds with the 5th pick Sox pick 4th 1.5 GB of the Phillies for the 3rd pick 2 games left. 1st and 2nd pick have now been eliminated.
  22. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) With the news of Baldwin being slightly banged up I was able to strike at the right time and make a trade: I give up: Stefon Diggs M. Gillisee I get: Lesean McCoy Doug Baldin I'm in first place, the guy I'm trading with is in ninth. Classic sell high, buy low to a team that is needy for production. That's a very nice trade for you. I'm hoping for another big week out of Gillislee and then I am going to trade him for a defense or something. My team is pretty stacked everywhere outside of Defense. Streamed Packers this week off waivers and that move paid off.
  23. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 01:05 PM) New RDR 2 trailer. Disappointed, but not because the game still doesn't look awesome, but because it didn't give us a ton of new info. It was essentially a 2nd teaser trailer.
  24. Sox just can't help themselves but f*** this up. Sox win, Reds lose, Tigers win. 0.5 games ahead of the Reds with the 5th pick Sox pick 4th 2.5 GB of the Phillies for the 3rd pick 3 GB of the Tigers for the 2nd pick 4 GB of the Giants for the 1st pick 3 games left. 1st pick has now been eliminated.
