  1. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) Let's go over this again... "Heyward was signed as a 25 year old." "Eaton will be traded as a 28 year old." Established 25 year olds with plus tools have more value than established 28 year olds with limited tools. Poll 30 MLB GM's and ask them which player has more potential. I think you're going to get a pretty clear cut idea. If we are worried about nitpicking, then Heyward was actually signed as a 26 year old, and Eaton turned 28 yesterday.
  2. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) Doubtful You're probably right. I'd add in Jennings to get it done.
  3. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) I'm not a Reed fan very much at all. I'll take a Martes, Tucker++ deal for Q I don't want Reed headlining a deal, but he's very interesting to me. Martes, Tucker, Reed, Stubbs is what I had tweeted earlier.
  4. Frazier for Calhoun and Buehler. Would the Dodgers take it?
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) Maybe their pissed over the Sale deal...maybe not just a thought Good. Kenny got back at Rizzo for the s*** he pulled back in 2010 with the Edwin Jackson trade. Kenny probably loved playing Rizzo like a fiddle over the Sale trade.
  6. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) What's Eaton's locker room contribution of note? He threw a hissy fit because a child was asked to leave the locker room because other players were uncomfortable. Never before seen picture of Ben Zobrist's game-winning AB.
  7. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Have you actually read what happened? Do you remember how close the Cubs were to losing that game and the World Series? Are you seriously kidding me right now? Lol at you just EATING. THAT. s***. UP. Man, you're going to be so bummed when you find out Angels in the Outfield isn't based on a true story.
  8. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) The Cubs took a risk in Heyward hoping his bat would improve because they had so little money tied up into the core. They could afford it. They took that risk because of his upside and athleticism. Eaton is never going to be 6'5 240 with plus athleticism and plus raw power. Adam Eaton isn't athletic. Right.
  9. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) I dunno man, the parade looked pretty nice. Yeah, the Cubs won the World Series because Heyward spoke up in the clubhouse. Real life isn't the Mighty Ducks movies.
  10. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) And Heyward is notably better in the clubhouse based on the stuff he did in the World Series. f***ing yawn.
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Heyward still has way more upside than Eaton ever will because of his athleticism and tools. Eaton's maxed out and I would guess GM's aren't going to be fooled by WAR numbers that are inflated by RF defense. People keep bringing up his WAR, but he's still a guy that finished 19th in MVP voting and will probably never be higher. You aren't going to give up the farm for that. Where the hell do you think Heyward's value resides?? Eaton has been a 117 wRC+ player over the past 3 years. Heyward has been 100 wRC+. That's offensive value. Eaton is the better offensive player, and his 2016 defense was better than any defensive year Heyward has had. Soooo.....
  12. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) Lets not lose our minds here Heyward had a down year, but had been a considerably better player than Eaton Although given the contract he signed I would much rather have Eaton the next five years than Heyward I'll take the guy who is trending upward vs the guy who fell off a cliff after signing a monumental contract and was so bad he was benched because of it. Can't think the 2016 plus the amount of money he's making doesn't weigh on him. He may not put up another sub 2-WAR season, but I highly doubt he ever reaches 6 again.
  13. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Eaton doesn't have the upside of Heyward. Potential is always sexy in any investment. Huh? Eaton is BETTER than Heyward right now. Eaton had nearly identical offense seasons in 2015 and 2016, the difference in 3.7 WAR and 6.0 WAR was moving to RF. So had Eaton moved to RF a year sooner, it's entirely plausible that Eaton would be having back to back 6 WAR seasons.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) I just don't think two top thirty players is that great of value for a guy who has been one of the best outfielders in baseball and is signed to a cheap contract for five years. Given bust rates of prospects, I don't see it. I think we need top talent + depth and need to get that in our packages for Q and / or Eaton. When it comes to Frazier / Robertson, I hope we get a back end top 100 guy for them plus some low level flyers (or maybe some arms we like that we think we can convert to relievers). Expect a bit more for Frazier then Robertson and think we get more for Robertson at the deadline then today. Nate Jones is interesting, but you wonder how much his injury history downplays the value he would have. Yeah, I need 4 guys for both Eaton and Q. The chances that Robles becomes as good as Eaton is now are very low, especially since he's so damn raw.
  15. Definitely thought this was Greg Holland. Can we get clarification in the title?
  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) I'd much rather do: Quintana to Houston for Martes, Tucker, Reed+ and Eaton to Washington for Robles, Lopez/Ross, and Severino Quintana for Martes, Tucket, Reed, Stubbs. Eaton for Robles, Lopez, Keiboom, Severino.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Bob Nightengale Verified account ‏@BNightengale 1h1 hour ago Dexter Fowler bet on himself last year, and won big time with his $70M deal with #Rockies It was a mistake. He meant Desmond.
  18. Let's suppose the Nats get Eaton and Q without Turner....you are looking at something like this.... Giolito, Robles, Lopez, Fedde, Kieboom, Dunning, Nuese, Stevenson, Severino, Soto. Those are their top 8 prospects, plus Severino, their #14 prospect, and Soto, their #15 prospect. How the hell can they feel good about that? Austin Voth then becomes their #1 prospect. That's a terrible farm system. OR, they include Turner and it's something like.... Turner, Robles,Lopez, Fedde, Stevenson, Severino.
  19. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) So just binged Westworld the last few days. One question that I have: I asked the same question. Pretty weird.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) The Nats want to make a splash. Give them Q AND Eaton in a blockbuster. Giolito/Robles/Dunning/Neuse/Stevenson/Severino/Reetz. If the Nats are getting Eaton and Q, they are giving up Turner. No excuses.
  21. Ugh. So sad, but also so excited to see this new brand of White Sox baseball. I know I am going to hate watching him finally become a household name now that he's with a marquee franchise, but he deserves to finally get some recognition. Best of luck and I hope he kicks ass in Beantown.
  22. QUOTE (kwill @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:01 AM) I would still lean towards a package with De Leon and Bellinger as the headliners. i don't know if that is possible at this point but they seem closer to the big leagues. I get the feeling the Dodgers wanted to have Puig be part of the centerpiece of the deal. I still think they have an interest in Sale. Not many times you could put together the two top lefties in the game. I think you can still get De Leon, Bellinger, Calhoun, and Buehler for Q and Frazier if the Dodgers decide to save their money by not signing Turner. Obviously the Rich Hill signing makes Q less needed for them, but who knows, they love to hoard major league talent.
  23. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) I actually just told my buddy who's a Cubs fan to give us Soler and Candelario for Robertson That's much better. I would do that.
  24. 1) Christmas Story 2) Elf 3) Christmas Vacation
  25. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:50 AM) Didn't they only win 7-8 games from their #5 slot? That's not how that works.
