  1. Austin Kearns broke his leg, so I got called up to the Mariners! Went 0-3 in my 1st 3 AB vs. Chris Tillman. But in my 4th AB, and vs. Clay Hensley, I hit a solo HR in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at 4 for my 1st major league hit!
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 13, 2011 -> 02:03 AM) I know the numbers say he isn't terrible, but Juan has always been a guy who takes terrible routes and gets terrible reads. However, yes, his speed helps him make up for that stuff and inflates his numbers. UZR says he is the 4th WORST fielder, and WAR suggests he is the #1 WORST player in baseball. The numbers hate him just as much as we all do.
  3. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ May 12, 2011 -> 11:16 PM) Beltran in 2011: .282 .380 .513 .892. Uh, yeah a slight upgrade over Pierre... Back to reality, Sox should look to acquire Josh Reddick from the Red Sox for the future in the OF. Beltran in 2011: .295 .387 .590 .977. lol.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) Ozzie, told Mike Scioscia does not have a Twitter account, points out, "He weighs 300 pounds more than me. He's bald, I'm not. He reads scouting reports, I don't. So?" Um, just sayin'.…...Jeff Passan, commenting on the now 26th ranked team (although how they went from 19th one week ago to 26th after winning 4/5 makes absolutely ZERO sense). from yahoo.com power rankings/Passan That pretty much sums up the current state of the White Sox when Ozzie jokes about reading scouting reports and preparing for future opponents. Ozzie is making fun of Scioscia? Why? And yeah, that part about mocking him because he looks at scouting reports and prepares his team is just a mega face-palm.
  5. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 12, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) As long as they don't summon Mike Huff. "He is fast for a white guy"
  6. Phegley went 2/3 with a 3B, BB. Edwards pitched 7 scoreless, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K. Remenowski perfect inning w/ 1 K. Blanke went 3/4. AVG up to .310 Petricka went 7 innings, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. It was his longest outing of the season.
  7. I was watching the game w/ some friends, none of which care about the Sox, so I agreed to go outside and start the bonfire after the 8th inning. To my surprise, the Sox somehow tied it, and then to even more surprise of mine, they won!
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 12, 2011 -> 04:10 PM) Man Juan Pierre is really under the bus this season. He's become the new Kotsay/Wise. He stinks, but he did get on base 3 times last night as well as dropping the deep drive. That ball was hit pretty hard and deep. It's Peavy who gets the bye on here. He's beloved. It's easier to hate a guy because he routinely f***s up and ruins games than it is to hate a guy because of a string of injuries. It's not like Peavy has been terrible when he has pitched for us healthy.
  9. No, definitely not play of the year, and maybe not even play of the week with Betancourt's slick flip a couple days ago (although his was a little unnecessary).
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) Nice play by Alexei. Peavy's velocity is better than expected, but his slider has nothing on it. Really? Everytime I've looked it has been at about 91, which is 3-4 MPH slower than he used to be.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) http://emojuanuribe.com/ I counter with..... http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles...es-invit,20167/
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) How long did Viciedo go last year? Completely guessing, but maybe like 60-70 AB? EDIT: Game logs say he did it in his first game in September, so if you add up the ABs in June, July, and August, it's 82 AB. So right in the 82-85 AB range.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ May 11, 2011 -> 07:11 PM) I gotta believe Richmond is involved somehow. They wouldn't keep him on the show for only an election storyline. I actually like the grieving family stuff. Gives show more depth. I think the weird little guy may have something to do w/ it. The guy who works for Richmond, but I can't remember his name. I've also had the suspicions of the guy that the dad works w/, but I've gotten off that idea.
  14. Escobar ended up 4/4 with a 2B.
  15. 3-run HR in his 1st AB.
  16. Viciedo is 1/2. Escobar is 1/1. Tyler Saladino hit a 3-run HR in his 1st AB of the year.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ May 11, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) The Killing has gone downhill a bit. Hopefully it is just a midseason slump and picks up. I still enjoy it, but I get really bored w/ the dragged out depressing scenes with the parents. Of them crying, and the brothers asking questions and all that. It really slows everything down. I just want to watch the investigation, and Darren Richmond to some extent.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) Because in the grand scheme of things the record just doesn't matter. I mean, have you ever watched or went to check a minor league boxscore and said "f***! they lost!" I mean honestly. If they do well that's a bonus. No problem. But do you think Nationals fans care about the record of their low A affiliate or the progress of Bryce Harper? Or Angels fans with how Mike Trout is doing or their AA record? It's all meaningless. If that's your local team, and you have gone to their games over your life, then I can definitely see it. I mean, I can imagine there are fans who live in Charlotte who follow the players that graduate to the Sox, but honestly don't give a damn if the Sox win a game, and only care about Charlotte. So I can definitely see it.
  19. So this Google Music basically cloud saves your entire music library, so you can listen to your music anywhere, on many devices? This sounds phenomenal, as long as they don't verify to see how the songs were acquired, considering I illegally download all my music.
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:11 AM) And always be weary of high batting averages without great walk rates. Walk rates are sustainable, and usually high BAs are not. Thoughts on Ross Wilson then? His stats haven't updated for today, but he went 2/3 with 2 BB. OBP probably at .415 or so, and he now has more BB than K on the year.
  21. I would follow the team wherever they went, but I think if a new team moved in, I would jump all over that one.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ May 11, 2011 -> 12:45 AM) Sox have to go 33-23 from now to the break to be 47-46. Completely do-able w/ this team. Can you imagine if we had Viciedo in LF instead of Pierre?
