  1. Konerko would have to play until he is about 42 a strong consideration. By that time he should be at 550+, maybe close to 600 HR if he somehow continues to hit 30+ on average. But I agree w/ whoever said if he was on the Yankees, he would pretty much be a lock.
  2. The Borgias was fantastic last night w/ a big twist ending. Can't wait to see how this plays out!
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 9, 2011 -> 03:30 AM) It's about goddamn time that they start missing team's #1's. Yeah, but we still get their #5.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) Wouldn't have negated it but that's another at bat for a guy who's already thrown 120+ pitches and another baserunner to deal with. yeah, but that's a stretch to say he got the no-no because of that call. Verlander's though, he got very lucky the ump was behind Miggy, because that was 100% a hit.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 9, 2011 -> 01:54 AM) What the hell are we doing with Upchurch? Is there a reason we're like switching him off between a starter and reliever right now? Freakin odd. I'm not sure. I mean, he didn't do that great as a starter, but he also didn't do bad enough to abandon, especially at age 20. I'd like to see him back in to a starting spot, or at least in Winstom-Salem, but I think his dominance in the bullpen may keep him there. But a 10.1 K/9 and a 0.9 BB/9 is godlike.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ May 8, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) And we miss Weaver and Haren in Anaheim. Wow, that's timely.
  7. Got a 99% on my 9-page paper that we had a week to do. Also, had a 55% in poly-sci class going in to my final. Final was worth 50% of our grade. Got an 80%, and it boosted my grade to a 68%. Then we got quiz pts added one day as a grade boost, and now my grade is a 72.5%, which qualifies as a C. BOOYAH!
  8. Steven Upchurch now has 24 K to 2 BB. That's a nice meatball.
  9. Anyway, Andy Wilkins went 2/3.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 8, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) Game threads are slow here these days huh I know, it's almost as if today is some sort of holiday.
  11. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 8, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) Ozzie has been talking about putting Morel there. He said he almost did it today. I've been a big Morel fan for a while, and have not been down on him this year like most people, but I still don't think he is ready for the 2 hole. I DID gaurentee that he would have a much better month of May, but I would give him until June before I put him in the 2-hole for good.
  12. Verlander got the no-no, but that was a bad call on the line drive that hit him. Miggy bobbled that thing.
  13. I missed this game completely, and I can't believe we banged out 17 hits. Hope the pink bats are working again tomorrow!
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) I chose the correct top 3 in NBC's 10,000 challenge. I don't know how it works though; I'll hopefully have a phone call soon. You correctly picked the #1, #2, and #3 finishers? Wow, that's awesome. Hope you get that money. And thanks for the help. My dad won $382.
  15. Addison Reed with a 1 perfect inning. 2 Ks.
  16. Ok, so my dad put $10 on Animal Kingdom to Win, Place, and Show. (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). The odds were 20-1 on winning. So does anyone know what his payout is? We figure he won $200 for the win, but how much will he get for the Place and Show bets? I can't seem to find it anywhere online.
  17. I would like to know whats the highest $M per win is. Like for instance, if a team wins 100 games with a $100M payroll, then they roughly "paid" $1M/win. The higher the $M/win, the worse. I think this team may end up winning 70 games, with a $127M payroll. That's $1.8M/win. Obvious these numbers look awful for teams like the Red Sox/Yankees who may win 100 games, but spend $300M, so then the number is $3M/win, and it doesn't really prove anything since they are obviously a good team, but for teams in the normal pay ranges, I'm interested to see the numbers.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 7, 2011 -> 03:36 AM) Ok, this makes it better since you acknowledged its a sad story. That previous post makes it look like you're entirely mocking it because it fell on a Hispanic holiday, so my apologies. Well I guess I was wrong anyway since I apparently can't read a calender correctly. Carry on.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 7, 2011 -> 03:30 AM) Real f***ing tasteful Joe. But Tex, that is truly an awful story. lol what? It was a sad story that happen to fall on an ironic date. EDIT: Actually I take that back, it was posted on the 6th.
  20. Damn, on Cinco De Mayo and everything!
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) Do we have a single prospect of relevance doing anything? Mitchell has been a joke. Thompson has sucked since his hot start. Phegley sucks. Danks and Flowers don't even count anymore. Escobar's hitting .228 with a sub .300 OBP. But I guess the system will get a boost if/when Morel/Beckham get sent down. This s*** is just depressing. Do you not consider Viciedo a prospect? Or Addison Reed? Or Jacob Petricka?
  22. Kanny got 1-hit. lol.
  23. Wilkins went 2/4. Sexy.
  24. Heidi had a decent start.
