  1. Cowley is now tweeting that Kerry Wood MAY in fact sign with us as well. Anyone else get the feeling that Jerry might be terminally ill and hates his family? Seriously, this guy is spending everything he has in a hurry....
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) You must really hate Pierzynski then. I don't really recall seeing him showboating or yelling. And I don't mean yelling at the ump or getting into an argument, I mean yelling in joy or rubbing it in someones face that you hit a HR or you struck someone out. I was not a fan of Bobby's fist pump. While it was cool, it was kind of douchey too.
  3. This is what I get for stopping in the middle of studying to check Twitter. I have a final in 15 minutes, and I've only studied for about 20 minutes so far....
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) i would like to get crain but not for 3 yrs, hes been kind of inconsistent too, like in 09. but i guess a 3.50ish era from ur 6th inning (or so)guy wouldnt be that bad Wish not granted. Sox sign Crain for 3 yrs.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 06:50 PM) What has Balfour done that makes him a douchebag? Yelling at Orlando Cabrera? If there is something, I hope someone else points it out. I'm also not worried about Balfour's FB%. 45.1% isn't bad, especially with a career 10.4% IFFB. I'm more concerned with his line drive rate of about 20% the past 3 years, but when he strikes out quite a bit as he does, he can get away with that so long as he isn't walking anybody. I am not a fan of players who yell and scream and showboat.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) That's not going to work. They aren't going to let him pitch for the White Sox for 2 months and then pick him up. They still COULD though, that was my point. It's possible.
  7. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) Sale can't be traded anyways so it's a moot point. PTBNL.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) Got caught up with Breaking Bad in Sept. Dexter, I have been caught up since just before Season 4. Sons of Anarchy is next because it is just 3 seasons. After that, maybe "The Shield". The League? Not really a drama at all, but the funniest show on TV (IMO).
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) Took me 6 months but finally finished my journey through "The Wire". Next up, "Sons of Anarchy" so I can read those black bars from you douche bags in the threads. Already caught up on Breaking Bad and Dexter?
  10. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) The downside to Balfour is he'll cost us our 2nd rounder. And that he appears to be a douchebag.
  11. Finals week is/was pretty easy for me. I had 2 finals last week (80% and then 88%) I have taken 1 final so far this week (78%) I take one final tonight (If I get a 90% or higher, I should keep at least a 93% in the class for an A) And 1 final tomorrow night which will be a BIIIIIIIITCH. It's really 2 finals, the last one being an essay. It's over Western Civilization. So boring.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) Or you can go for the easy Richard=Dick, thus Dick Harden. Mustve been tough in middle school for him. Especially since his middle name is Gaylord.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) I really think he could, although I'd want him limited to 180-ish innings, which would mean giving him some extra rest at some point. I agree. I want him in the rotation, and yes, 180 IP or so seems like a good point. I think he pitched what, 150 innings last year? I don't rememeber, but if we can stretch him out another 25 IP or so each year, I think that would be a good plan.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) I think Sale would do well also. I've gotten the impression that Sale will be in the rotation on opening day, taking Peavy's role, and that leaves you weakening your bullpen, with only 4 starting pitchers if Peavy isn't there. Lucas Harrell taking up 10 starts is not all-in. 10 starts? I don't see Peavy missing 1/3 of the season, especially since he is apparently 3 weeks ahead of schedule. I would say he misses 6 or 7, a couple of which don't have to be covered if we use the off-day and a 4-man rotation. So we are taking between 4-5 starts that would need to be covered by Harrell (or someone).
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) Dumping a guy from our current rotation who isn't all that expensive for a guy who won't be an integral part of your team until 2013 isn't even close to what I'd call going "All in". It's what I'd call "rebuilding". Ok, call it what you want, but I think Chris Sale will do a great job in the rotation if he takes Floyd's spot, and Gardner will be an obvious improvement over Carlos Quentin. I think we overall get better with that trade, and that's not even mentioning Austin Romine.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) I'm wondering if Kevin from The League would be fun to see at Zanies. Hmmm....maybe. I really do love hearing him talk on the show. His voice is so captivating. lol.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Why would that be a good deal for the Sox? We just spent enough money on a catcher for the next 2 years that we wouldn't really have a place for Montero, and there's no good reason to keep him in the minors for a year and a half or to use him as a backup next year. Sure, you could trade for him to trade him later, but you're just creating a hole in your rotation in order to have better trade bait. Why is it so bad that he would play minor league ball for a year and a half? To my knowledge he is only like 21 years old. But I would really hope Kenny could get Romine and Gardner for something like Floyd and Quentin.
  18. With the Yankees signing Russell Martin, it makes even more sense for the Yankees to use Montero/Romine as trade bait. Come on Kenny, offer up Floyd!
  19. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) No, one or the other. Not both. Obviously the packages wouldn't be similar, since Floyd/Danks/Jackson have different values. But I tried to give a laundry list of players I feel could accompany needs. If the Yankees propose Curtis Granderson, Hector Noesi and Danny Brewer for Gavin Floyd I'd have to seriously consider. Oh, the way you wrote it was "Floyd/Danks....Jackson" as if you meant either Floyd or Danks + Jackson.
  20. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) ML Talent choose one Curtis Granderson Brett Gardner Joba Chamberlain and Prospects choose one of... Jesus Montero Brandon Laird Manny Banuelos Hector Noesi Gary Sanchez or... choose two of... DJ Mitchell Austin Romine Luke Murton Danny Brewer Kyle Roller Jack Rye for Danks/Floyd...Jackson(pick one from each group of prospects) Trade 2 starters? Ehhh...
  21. How was Breaking Bad not nominated for best show? Golden Globes must be a shame. Golden Globes = GG Golden Gloves = GG I see the similarities.
  22. I'd love to take either one of them. Crain is younger, but Guerrier has had the steadier career.
