Maybe this is why the Brewers traded Lawrie.....
QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) I talked to Kevin Briand who headed the Jays' Canadian scouting for 10 years about Lawrie, and he said he's a very arrogant kid. But he also said he plays hard and doesn't even consider failure as an option. I imagine he must have liked him because he's still with the Jays (Briand) as a professional scout, and I'm sure AA consulted him first. He's also 20 years old, so it's not surprising if he's a bit immature. I wouldn't think so, after all, it's tattooed on his arm. lol....

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) I see nothing wrong with this article, he's a bit over confident but he isnt threatening to be upset in public if he doesnt make the team. He is saying that it is his goal to start in the bigs, that seems fair to me. Did you read it? He says he is too good for the minors and he is making the team out of spring training, and if the GM doesn't know it, then he should.- Maybe this is why the Brewers traded Lawrie.....

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Oh, now they use advanced fielding metrics. But they sure didn't use them when on Derek Jeter. Lol, great point.- twitter

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) I was surprised to see that Joe Cool hadn't made a post about this... I was too busy fapping my brains out. Let's give 'em Chris Sale.- Paul Konerko Re-Signs with White Sox
Interesting how I didn't find a show on ESPN (ATH, PTI, First Take) to have a segment about the Dunn or Konerko signings, yet they had a segment about Carlos Pena today. Also, on ESPN's bottom line today I saw they mention "Dunn and Konerko were both listed among the worst defensive 1B in baseball according to advanced fielding metrics". LOL, ok cool guys, thanks for pointing out their flaws.- 2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) The same Adam Russell we traded them? I believe so.- Peavy
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) Aha I see. For some reason I thought Jackson was a one year rental. You would have thought he was a one year rental and cost $50M dollars and burned down orphanages on his off-days.- 2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
Rays trade Bartlett to Padres for Adam Russell and Cesar Ramos. Who is their SS? Beckham? Brignac?- Dayan Viciedo
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) Andrew Bailey, Viciedo wouldnt be enough but that is someone I would target. Craig Kimbrel is also an intriguing young closer to be. Sale is a starter to me, or atleast should be tested there first. It's a shame we have to put him in the bullpen instead of prepping him to join the rotation next year. I agree 105%. Sale shouldn't thrown into the pen until our pen starts failing and Thornton can't get it done closing. Only then do I think we should call Sale up and give the pen a boost. Otherwise, stretch him out in AA or AAA.- Dayan Viciedo
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) I was just teasing quickman. He's notorious for hating every single prospect that's ever lived. This goes back at least 5 years. Again, I'm laughing out loud.- Dayan Viciedo
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) All prospects suck, right? This made me laugh out loud.- Winter Meeting Buzz
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) I was thinking Pierre-GRANDERSON-Rios but Granderson is awfully expensive. Yeah, all things considered (contract, age, and cost to acquire), I would surely take Gardner over Granderson.- Winter Meeting Buzz
QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) Thank you, thank you, thank you. A man after my own heart. Then you put Rios in RF, and Quentin in LF. What would they want in return? Yes, I too have been hoping for the Yankees to sign Crawford and allowing Kenny to make a deal for Gardner. Would the Yankees want Floyd? Pierre-Gardner-Rios. NOTHING would hit the ground out there. Then with Morel and Alexei in the infield, our team would be stacked with defense. If Beckham and Paulie are our worst defenders, then we are looking REALLY good out there.- 2010 Fall TV Thread
QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) Yeah, we have it set to record on the DVR starting tonight, I've never seen it. Best show on TV, and best show I've ever seen on TV. Seriously.- White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Chris Sale will be lucky to become the kind of starter Gavin Floyd is. Sale is no sure thing. Gavin, remember, was drafted higher than Chris and seen as a true ace, not so with Sale. We're getting a bit too far ahead of ourselves thinking Sale is just going to throw 180+ innings every year blowing people away. It hardly ever works like that. And trading Floyd and Viciedo for relievers is very short-sighted. We need to get more than that out of those guys. If the Sox organization were contracted today and a draft were held of all its players, Floyd and Viciedo would definitely both be top-10 picks out of the whole organization. You've got those 2, Sale, Beckham, Danks, Thornton, Alexei, Santos probably in the top-8 as an organization. You don't just waste that kind of value on a couple relievers, especially arb-eligible ones. Non-tendering a still-talented Bobby Jenks because you don't want to pay him $8-9M makes no sense when you dump 6 years of Viciedo for a $7M Heath Bell, for example. You're losing that one all the way. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) You don't trade a very good, young starting pitcher for bullpen arms, that's terrible value. You go scrapheap with vets that have had past success or youngsters with great stuff. Bullpen arms are so insanely inconsistent year to year that they're very rarely worth multi-year deals or big dollar amounts and you never trade good, young talent for them. You could maybe make a concession for a great closer but even that's scary. Clearly I suck at using commas, what I was trying to say was that we should trade Floyd (hopefully for an OF), and then we should trade Viciedo for some relievers.- White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) He's not going to change the kind of hitter he is. Still doesn't change my point. I'd take him over Quentin for defense and price.- White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
Also, I would love for us to bring back Andruw. Hell, I'd probably take him over Quentin for his price and defense. Power is still there, just needs to work on contact skills.- White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
God I hope we can trade Floyd and Viciedo for some relievers so Sale won't be wasted in the bullpen.- Winter Meeting Buzz
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Cubs are trying to acquire Chris Davis and D. O'Day. O'Day is a big time reliever, so be interesting to see what they give up for him. Marlon Bryd! lol.- Winter Meeting Buzz
QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) 16 mil a season for the next 3 years. That'd be payroll suicide. I agree, it would be a terrible acquisition unless the Rangers were picking up at least half of his contract.- Winter Meeting Buzz
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) $48M over the next 3 years. Does that mean he has, or has not been linked to Kenny over the past few years? Sorry, I must be slow at this.- Winter Meeting Buzz
Rangers are shopping Michael Young around to save money for Lee. Isn't he someone Kenny has been linked with in the past? - Maybe this is why the Brewers traded Lawrie.....
