Time for me to watch the minors again. Nice that MiLB is included with MLB.tv now.

This isn't happening until JR dies at the earliest. The stadium is still in GREAT shape, too. I'd guess in 10 years we might see some rumbling but not now.

Congrats to Eloy. Hopefully Lenyn gets some playing time and makes the most of it.

Better hope Andrus or Remillard don't get hurt I guess.

I think there's an allure to tanking because you can dream about the future. That's where I think the issue lies here - this group has shown no ability to tank and come out the other side with a sustainably competitive team. Injuries didn't help but they failed to finish the job, and recent trends have been encouraging but I still doubt they can put together a good minor league system to continually reinforce the MLB team.

The only way they're remotely competitive on offense is if Moncada, Eloy, TA and Vaughn all stay healthy and all end up producing like we hoped they could. You get 15-20 WAR out of that group and add in Robert, all of a sudden you have a good top 5 in your offense and can absorb some struggles from Colas, Sosa, Korey Lee and whatever stiffs they bring in to fill holes. Pitching wise I think they can put together a league average-ish bullpen as long as they don't blow money on relievers again. They seem to be ok at finding value here without paying a premium. Starting is going to be a problem unless they sign a couple of the available quality starters out there like Nola. This is the only place I would spend, and could see some success with a Cease, Nola, Clevinger/other starter, Toussaint, Scholtens rotation. Overall, though, ALL of this coming together is incredibly unlikely. The most likely outcome is they end up as bad as or slightly better than this year. It's a rebuilding year, even in this shitty division.

NOBLETIGER ended up mattering. Also, how do you not throw a slider there?

Nicky loves the basket

Come on Luis. Awful at bat.

Execution was terrible. Injuries didn't help for sure, but the minors had zero depth and they made terrible free agent signings. This team with some smart signings probably beats Oakland in 2020, gives a much better series to the Astros in 2021, and wins the division last year.

Sheets just bought himself a 2024 roster spot

I can be UNBELIEVABLY petty so I know I would.

The White Sox Way

No, that's about all we've got going for us right now

Robert is gonna hit 40 homers with basically no help on offense.

I don't doubt that they have their own internal valuation framework. It seems to favor relievers and marginal utility players, though, so it sucks.

$4/56M was "more than you're worth" to JR. $14M/year. 11 bWAR in 4 years with MIA and TOR, 2.75 bWAR average per year. Roughly $8M per WAR at that time, so Buehrle was worth about $22M/year. JR is a moron.

Good. Keep cycling through these guys. Drop dead weight in AAA.

Yeah that was bad managing. Scholtens was wild and was hanging his curve. He was clearly done. He's not an ace pitcher who can gut through that. Get 6 good innings from him and run with it.

I think Scholtens is done

Wait, Moncada can still hit homers?!

Seems like it. I'd really like to see the Sox cycle that dead weight at AAA/on the 40 man more. Put in claims on every DFA and release and see what you can do.
