Indians awarded claim on Thome
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Can we now change the thread title that the Sox did not claim Thome??? Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Sources: #Indians awarded claim on Thome, #WhiteSox awarded claim on Kubel. Thome has no-trade clause; preference is #Phillies. I would be shocked if Thome approved a trade to Cleveland. Kubel? Now? Why? Don't do it.

Indians awarded claim on Thome
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) Kubel is a guy I think the White Sox could use, but finding a spot for him and a contract for him after this year could be tough. Use how? Do people really think the Sox are still in it?

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Songwriter Nick Ashford of Ashford and Simpson died yesterday. And now he's solid....solid as a rock. Sorry.

He should stay in Minnesota or let him sign with Philly. Sox? Indians? Give me a f***ing break.

Indians under .500 for the first time since they were 1-2. 162 will tell you who you are.

Indians awarded claim on Thome
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) DKnobler DKnobler by ESPNChiSox Also on waiver wire today: Danks, Floyd, Konerko, Thornton of White Sox. With Chicago 6 1/2 out, would Kenny trade anyone? With that list, they're trying to move Thornton if they can get a good deal.

Kenny, stop yourself, and start drafting your resignation letter please.

If Thome has a no-trade clause, he should deny a trade to the Sox. Absolutley no good reason to come to this team.

Indians are getting spanked. Today could end with the Tigers as the only team in the division with a winning record.

Indians awarded claim on Thome
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) John Danks is what he is... a near-4 era pitcher. He is probably the most over-valued guy on Soxtalk. Pretty much. He's got a lot going for him that will make him a lot of money, but I don't think he's got another gear that will suddenly turn him into an ace. The Sox should most certainly take offers on him this winter.

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) I thought Breaking Bad was pretty damn great this week. It's been good, but I think the show was at its best when Walt and Jesse had more scenes together, and Walt was a sympathetic character. Obviously as time goes on, Walt is morphing into a badass, and that's part of the character development, but I think the show has lost something because of it. Hopefully they can finish this season on a high note, and go out in style next year.

Watch the Sox give Tyler Kuhn to the Twins, and he kicks our ass for the next 5 years.

Indians awarded claim on Thome
QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) He wouldnt even get that far in the waiver process. There's a sneaky way of the Twins releasing him, and letting him sign as a free agent, but it's up in the air if MLB will allow it. Either way, the Sox have no business making trades at this point. It's over.

God, just let the man go to Philadelphia and let him try to win a championship to finish his career. I would feel sorry for him if he had to come back here. Kenny--don't do it.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Angels
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) Tampa left a small nation on the bases. Kudos to Tigers, as they're winning the games they need to in order to put this division away. I have to admit, I'm glad the Tigers are winning. Two reasons--I'm tired of the White Sox teases, and I'd rather see a team from the Central win 90 games than go in with 84-86.

Virginia Earthquake
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) Poltergeist are the more likely cause. It's a pretty big coincidence since I thought I was feeling an earthquake at the same time without knowing it happened.

Virginia Earthquake
I'm in Illinois, and at around 1, I was sitting at my desk chair, and I wondered if I was feeling an earthquake, because I was involuntarily moving in my chair. So I'm going to say I felt it and it wasn't a bad lunch.

Astros officially eliminated on August 22. Six years later, I guess things could be worse for the White Sox.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) I was at SOSH and a lot of the fans there are hoping Cleveland or the Sox win the division simply because they don't want to see Verlander. They better stop hoping and get on their knees and pray. It's almost an incentive to lose the division. That's a major flaw in the playoff system. They really need to make that first round best-of-7. But the first step is to shorten the season by a week...especially if they add another playoff team.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) How is Verlander not the sure-fire Cy Young? At this point, he deserves MVP votes. I was just coming to this thread to basically post the same thing. I'm not big on pitchers winning the MVP, but I would vote for him in this particular year. He's carried that team, and they're going to the playoffs.
