  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) We don't need him yet. I want to exhaust the Hudson/Morel resources before deciding on him. More specifically, I want to see how Morel looks when he gets off the DL. He's a plus defender when healthy. Having Hudson on the bench and a 1-2 time/week starter would be great. And I don't want the Sox giving up pitching only to help the Red Sox, who could be a team the Sox play in October.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) 1 game back of Texas for best record in the AL. Winning streaks do wonders. Winning streaks win divisions. The "winning series" philosophy is a bad philosophy. I think Robin has this team only thinking about showing up to the park THAT DAY, and playing the game the right way, and with the talent they have, good results will happen. By the way, take away the head-to-head vs Texas in their park, and the Sox have the same record as Texas. Sox are in very good shape.
  3. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 02:22 AM) On the other hand, even I'm starting to get down on Trayce Thompson. I was thinking about that too. I'd like some examples of current very good major league players that couldn't hit for average in High-A at age 21. I'm sure some exist, but I'd like to know.
  4. Danks over .300. Johnson with 2 more homers. Mitchell with his 8th triple.
  5. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) I think the attendance discussion is very much on point. Everyone knows White Sox fans won't come out if they team is not winning. Well.. this is First Place Chicago White Sox! I won't be surprise if it's in the 22-24,000 range tonight, but Saturday and Sunday should be well over 30,000.
  6. Mitchell interview. http://chicago-white-sox.fans-talk.com/eye...red-mitchell-2/
  7. The next 44 games are going to be tough. Felix, Romero, Wainwright, Lynn, Greinke, Gallardo, Kershaw, Capuano, and CC and Kuroda are possible. We'll also get Samardjia again, which should be fun. Rangers and Jays at home before the break, and 10-game roadtrip right after the break, including 4 at Boston and 3 at Detroit. It's going to be interesting to see what this team does from now until July 22. Peavy and Sale are legit 1-2 starters, but are health concerns. And then we have 3 other starters with ERAs over 5.00, with one of them on the DL. The bullpen has been good enough, but is still very young. The offense has really carried this team the last couple weeks, and that can't sustain forever. At some point, the starting pitching (Humber, Floyd, and Danks) will have to put up consistent quality starts. And when you consider what the Sox will be facing over the next 44 games, those starters better be ready to go once the offense cools off a little.
  8. If Hawk loses his mind again on a play like that, he should just take off the headphones and walk out, and let Stone handle it on his own.
  9. The weather looks pretty good the rest of the homestand. Even if it's a little low tonight, I hope Saturday and Sunday get well over 30,000. They should.
  10. It's going to be interesting to see how they draw tonight. Even if it's only 25,000, I hope the fans in the stands bring it hard tonight.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) To me the end game is to not stunt the kids growth. The "kid" is almost 26.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 07:59 AM) For as little as Robin uses his bench, no way. Let him play everyday. Maybe for a little while longer, but what's the end game here? Isn't he a 4th outfielder? That's what he would be. He could fill in anywhere in the outfield, pinch run and go in on defense.
  13. Strong probability two weeks from tonight in LA... Sale vs Kershaw

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 31, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) not sure why jordan danks doesn't get more credit on this board....has a double and a walk today. His obp is over .400 and OPS near .900. I know everyone hates the K's, but hes cut them down a bit, and as long as he is walking im ok with it. not sure how is defense has progressed, but I know he was a + defender at one point as well I've been saying he should replace Fukudome. 2-2, double, walk. Hitting .295.

  16. With it being a thin college draft, I hope they take a riskier high school guy. But I doubt we'll be able to get worked up over this draft one way or the other. I just hope the crapshoot aspect of the draft goes in the Sox favor.

  18. Cool, thanks. That Aug 15 thing was terrible.
  19. Does anyone know if the new rules and slotting will get players signed and playing sooner? Is that August 15th deadline still in play?
  20. All I'm going to say is Morel had moments in spring training where he looked very comfortable at the plate and drove the outside pitch to right/center. This could all be about his back, and if he actually feels better, then he is a better option at 3B than Hudson. The Sox have Hudson as a pretty darn good Plan B. Let's see what Morel can do when he gets back, and if he still sucks for a week, then send him down and go back to O-Dog.
  21. Cardinals are skipping Jaime Garcia. The Sox will face Wainwright, Lynn, and Westbrook based on the new rotation.
  22. Mariners get an off day in cool, rainy Chicago tomorow. Get drunk, guys.
  23. The Gio trades don't bother me now. He was super young in the Thome trade. The Swisher trade looks bad looking back, but it's just an offseason trade that didn't work out. The Hudson/Holmberg trade however was just bad. The team wasn't in a position to be making that gamble on Jackson being that guy to put them over the top. That 2010 team started 24-33, had a 26-5 run, and then crashed back to earth. And if you're curious what Holmberg is up to... http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...&pid=571787 Tell you what...if the Sox win the World Series this year, I'll never mention Hudson and Holmberg again.
  24. Holland shaved that thing on his face, and gave up 8 runs. 16-0 Mariners
  25. Happy flight http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL1803
