  1. I doubt the Mets part with major league talent that has positive value. I doubt the Sox want to sell Hendriks for minor league talent after signing Benny. I imagine the Sox would be much more incentivized to dump Kelly despite the rumors being ok with the payroll as-is.
  2. I would love both moves, Duvall's defense is so tempting after watching this group last year, but I have the feeling the Sox will begin the season with scrap heap (Reyes/Andrus) or in-house fillers and shop for guys of this ilk at the deadline if necessary. You can buy the Duvalls and Druys in July that are having mediocre campaigns for just the money due, and you can pickup hot hand overachievers for fringe prospects + the money.
  3. All of the foodies followed this guy in the last few minutes since it was posted here. Safe to say they are all listed in the "recently browsing" at the bottom of this page. Just wanted to say hi to you douchebag(s). Also, I noticed a fake insider tell: When they also list the reasons why a team would be in on a player after dropping the scoop. It is like they can't help themselves from explaining what led them to making this guess. It is sad, this is a decent idea, and the connection makes sense, just tweet that. Why add the fake insider bs?
  4. Owners were splashing money prior to the CBA negotiations. Several of the deals felt like good faith olive branches to me. One of the last contracts, right at the wire was Leury's. Jerry's idea of impressing the union was giving a journeyman utility player an extra year or two. Kind of humorous. The money should have gone to an Abreu extension... and I think that not getting done was the end of the relationship. But alas, nothing to see here in my opinion. I personally don't count Leury's money against any pseudo budget calculations.
  5. If anything it could hurt him if teams prioritize LHP now that LHB are more effective. But he also has relatively neutral splits. At best it is a wash.
  6. Feels like RP have gained about 20% in value and I haven't seen an update on that site. Feel like LAD would do it. Liam's value has to be bananas right now with only 2 years due. I'm not trading him for Busch if he can't play league average 2B. I've only seen the same grades you have and was concerned but can't really pretend to know more.
  7. Curious how long it was going to take Sox internet to realize Kelly performed almost as expected. Now with only 1 year due and the team option... seems like at the very least he can go for free. Now the question is, have we already spent that money on benny biceps? Or would that allow for a Drury/Segura type? I'd like to gamble. Keep Kelly and turn Liam into Michael Busch (+?). I prefer that route.
  8. 30 teams in the league. 2nd best available left handed OF free agent. 3rd best OF FA. 8th best offensive FA. 2nd youngest FA. Not sure you have any idea what "nothing" is.
  9. Rick doesn't want to be like the Kansas City Royals he wants to be THE Kansas City Royals.
  10. Very true. I preferred the upside 1 year deals. BUT If you are bullish on our core you almost have to prefer Benintendi. So in the vacuum that we have a good season(s)... give me the higher floor and that is easily 10D. It is the bad "fan" in me that worries about having to blow it up after this year. I shouldn't give a damn about the payroll if they fail again in '23 and have to sell.
  11. Gallo 1/11 Nimmo 8/161 Benintendi 5/70 Take your pick, I probably go Gallo. Cohen is absolutely a madman.
  12. I knew the fake insiders wouldn't be able to control themselves. If you believe someone said something to Kaplan, the LF tidbit was a clear clue, even pointed out by me here... If you look at who would be designated a LF on this team with only 2 OF (+ Leury) on the roster, that is a very short list, and possibly a list so short that only one guy who literally can't throw the ball would be on. Not surprised an anonymous account took the stab, also not surprised that others with slightly more credibility have carefully piggybacked the news pretending to have sources without actually confirming or denying it. Here's hoping it is true and that Sox internet may have even bullied Jerry into action. Let's Go!
  13. Balta got hot in the pants, so excited to pounce and "own" someone, barely read the post he was responding too (per usual) and assumed that "hot team" meant "lowly wild card team who snuck into the playoffs". While I'm not dying on the hill, I was responding to a post referring to all teams not NYY or HOU.
  14. I have a job so I'm not going through it but "the random hot team" is when the best team or teams doesn't win. Like "we might as well give up because we aren't the best team on paper". For me that would have been LAD, NYY or HOU in 2022. Quickly glancing at your list that includes the Braves, Nats and Royals. And obviously our 2005 White Sox. The post in question i was replying to was essentially saying "Just accept defeat, there is nothing we can do to be HOU or NYY". I still stand by the fact that the "NYY/HOU" teams only win 3 out of 5.
  15. I didn't know that was your account. I was responding more to the tweet than your general posts here. The idea that it doesn't matter because we aren't the Astros is flawed. It does matter. You either do the best with your current situation (Trade Liam if the budget is tapped, fill one hole and then use the funds to fill the other), take your pot odds and hope to beat a better team in a short series OR you trade Cease and tear it all down. The idea of just "acceptance" (Peralta and see what happens?) is the only really wrong answer (for me).
  16. A random "hot" playoff team seems to win 2 out of 5 world series. Feel like the Sox are still holding onto that scratch off ticket. Also, if this is your taek, it is completely reasonable, but you should be clamoring for a complete teardown with any available funds going towards buying bad contracts paired with prospects. Not sad that we didn't get Nimmo/Abreu/Rodon or whatever was the dream ceiling this offseason... because I still don't think that makes us the Astros.
  17. The way the sox internet personalities have created a shield for Rick Hahn is impressive, the way they stick to it on this particular issue is dumbfounding. It is a fireable offense to miss by that much. The front office MUST have told Jerry there was at least some chance he'd take the QO. Jerry is likely stubborn but he loves money and he lit value on fire in this situation. The message should have been: "100-1 he takes the offer, and in that event we can move him without a problem, this is a no-brainer". I'm almost certain this was not the message relayed IF big Jerry came forward and even made an impact on the decision... we don't even know he did actually intervene. Rodon hired someone to paint a White Sox Joker mural in a basement he probably already was moving out of, put it on IG and duped the boys.
  18. I think it is more likely he will sign with whomever offers him the most money.
  19. This generation of fake insider is smart enough to run with the possible "LF" clue and guess someone that can only play LF. Can't believe none of the usual jokers have taken their shot yet.
  20. But would you call him a LF if you were relaying a rumor? I don't think so. Especially since he probably plays RF early for the Sox. All I was trying to say.
  21. I don't think you call Gallo or Conforto a LF. Even if that is where they would/should/could play. You do call Brantley, Benintendi, Peralta?
  22. Tim throwing (the slightest bit of) shade online because Trea Turner got paid and fans rolling their eyes has nothing to do with ?. No player in recent memory has been beloved more per WAR than Anderson. Maybe Palka but that was mostly just weird sox internet.
  23. The way things have shaped up in free agency, I'd trade Hendriks and Graveman for some of the Dodgers AAA guys that are essentially ready. Plug them into the OF and 2B. Colas can arrive in June and platoon or replace. Maybe sign a journeyman reliever and have at it. Then add reinforcements at the deadline if the club is in a pennant race. If not, you sell any expiring vet contracts if they have value. Standing pat with the most expensive bullpen in the league (league history?) seems like a waste of resources if one or two guys could be turned into pre-arb position players that would plug right into the lineup.
  24. The same 2 team race that a 3rd team ran away with last year? Sports bettors and/or books really like the Sox, around 33% implied odds from a month old article quoting odds that I couldn't confirm. Didn't see any posted when I quickly checked right now. But even if that is still accurate, I'm not sure that someone putting it at 10% qualifies as absurd or negativity just for the sake of it.
