  1. IF we rebuild, all I ask is Jerry eats bad contracts paired with prospects. Otherwise the only juice is whatever you can squeeze from a Cease deal. Other than that, it isn't a rebuild, it is just waiting.

"Look at him, looking right at the pitcher" ?

    Kopech

Well on it's way to a million views. Not sure they really have anything of substance. 4 home runs in 5 batters and you assume he was tipping. Much like our mainstream media I'm pretty sure old Jomboy wrote the story and then found the evidence to fit the narrative. One of the 4 homers was off the slider which Jomboy himself explains he doesn't know how it happened as he should have been sitting fastball/changeup if they had a tip. Only one of the homers was actually off the curveball where Kopech flared his glove. Really, if anything they could see the flare and just spit on the curveball, get into better fastball counts and mash, but Michael was using his changeup alot which should have helped neutralize that edge if that was indeed the case. Also, I'm not positive a glove flare like that is as obvious from homeplate as it is the CF camera. I personally think it was the lack of command and velocity, leading to 91 mph fastballs in hitter's counts that was the culprit.
  4. Not sure he would have been worried about a platoon with Colas in Charlotte and a few extra bucks.
  5. Well, the is only the 2nd game in 3 days, and we are playing a 2B in RF... so it seems like we could have used Duvall. Who is also off to a hot start. The idea that Benintendi and Robert are going to play 155+, Colas is going to be the real deal AND our DH options will be effective and healthy (already a fail) seems like a longshot. Like a 100000 to 1. A 4th OF option ahead of Marisnick and Hamilton seemed and still seems warranted, especially considering Colas could have easily been held out until warm weather. I'm not the leader of the "just spend more money" segment of white sox internet, but this felt like one time where just a little more could have really helped.
  6. I think that is precisely the move a major market club in their window makes. The savings in starting Colas (barring a ROY) in Charlotte alone would have helped pay the bill. I think the Sox were "in" on him but using the same strategy they used on Elvis. If anyone came along with a real bid they weren't going to get him. Major miss for me.
  7. Romy in RF again. Man, they could have really used Adam Duvall if they were going to go with a platoon. Super frustrating.
  8. He must have been. He played very little 3B in high school. 15u travel teams are hesitant to pigeon hole a 5'10 right hander at 1B. The level of slow he must have been to receive that death sentence (that he overcame) must have been staggering.
  9. Need: Average or better defense Want: .800 OPS vs RHP. If the team is in the hunt you should be able to find a legitimate platoon partner for him at the deadline and would then end up with nice production at RF. Expect: Slightly below average defense, a horrible OBP coupled with 20 bombs, leading to between 1 and 1.5 WAR. Another Rick Hahn masterclass.
  10. Wow. I have no problem with them holding some back. Creating a little demand. But that was a crazy drop. Almost nothing was available this weekend. Now that looks like a third of tickets are available. How many ticket packages did they plan on selling these last few weeks? (Yea, we usually sell a dozen packages in late February, better hold back 10,000 tickets just in case).
  11. Haven't heard yeek in awhile. What are you, an evil doer in 1970s Gotham city? I'd rather sit in the bleachers with drunks than diabetics. Also, if you have still managed to complain in this thread, it might be time for an intervention.
  12. Had he said "A source told me" it would be ok right? Instead, he said "I think" so that doesn't fly around here.
  13. Gio is setup for a similar couple years to Rodon. Reasonable improvement sets him up for a QO which I think he rejects regardless if it is the correct decision. That comp attached will severely impact his value and he will get a short term deal with an opt-out. I think it is unlikely that there is a scenario where Lucas is pitching well enough to have significant value above a QO comp at the deadline AND the Sox are so far out of it that they are looking to sell.
  14. You say this and then immediately proceed to give YOUR taek on players that you also "don't even know on a personal basis". This place will get real quiet if only friends and family of players are allowed to comment.
  15. I don't think anything Tim said in either interview was necessarily wrong. I think all guys want to get paid. I think all guys get jealous when other guys get paid. I think all guys hate it when people, especially their own network guys are critical of them. I am dumbfounded that he said these things out loud and it is downright shocking that he said them on the record, publicly. Unless this team wins a World Series in the next two years I see almost no scenario where Tim doesn't burn every bridge in town before he is traded or his contract runs out.
  16. Him being stupid enough to threaten Chuck with access to the team if he didn't stop being critical... on a podcast is meaningful. It demonstrates what a moron Tim is.
  17. I don't think anyone has a problem with him taking that shot at Jerry. I included it because it helps demonstrate that he was indeed complaining he didn't get a new deal. And for the record, I think it is fine if he feels this way... privately. Everyone wants to get paid. Every player who feels they have exceeded their current deal would love a new deal every single offseason. I bet if you privately polled MLB players, 90% would think they deserve a new deal this season. How many have we heard from? How many took a shot at their teammate getting money when they didn't?
  18. I listened to it again. He brings up the "business side of things" completely unprompted. Says he's been "knocking at that door". Takes a shot at the "history of things". Then "come on man, the white sox just signed, who for what, and that was what.... dude is great, good player, Great player, happy for him". He is 1000% expressing frustration with the Sox signing Benintendi instead of paying him. I can't ever remember a current player complaining about a teammate's signing. Dude is a clown and will somehow get a pass.
  19. Not sure what you think I believe.... but I'm firmly in the camp that he shouldn't be making these comments. In a season where he may or may not have missed games for personal reasons. With 2 years plus and a QO standing between him and free agency... he is completely out of line going public. Now, I think I'd be jealous seeing the money shortstops got this offseason. And I think it would be tempting for him to wonder if he'd get a 9 figure extension offer if he were with a different organization, but he has to be smarter than verbalizing those feelings. Especially when the club thought enough of him to give him "set for life" money early in his career, when many other clubs wouldn't have done that. I think his shot against his new teammate, calling him great, then clearly correcting to "good" and essentially questioning "why him and not me" is bad. And the fact that this still hasn't taken off on the forums or sox twitter shows me that fans love him, want to ignore his short comings and only care about bashing ownership and the front office.
  20. I'm surprised no one has called out the bit around the 21:00 minute mark. If Tim doesn't get an extension by this time next year, I worry that he will be insufferable. 2 full years remaining on what essentially was only a 1 year extension and he is already taking shots. Anyone else on the roster talks about Benintendi's deal like that... I don't think it goes well. Tim clearly says he's been "knocking on that door" (asking for a new deal). "But it is a shame it be like that" (that the Sox don't do long term deals). Then immediately says they just signed "who - for what". You can clearly see where his mind went: he was asking for an extension and they spent the money on this dude. Completely disrespectful to a teammate. Nothing Tim said was incorrect, and we all know, everyone probably would think this way if in his shoes, but it is just bad for a teammate to say these things out loud. And someone in the room might have agreed because he does say "I'll shut up", almost like someone told him to. TA also ironically points out he needs more than that (5/75) because he is in the SS market. I found this amusing. He better hope he is still in that market, because I think the guy is a LF which would put him in that identical market. With Benintendi as the closest comp. Can't wait.
  21. He also announced he was a human with a great soul. Weird flex.
