  1. Can't win with you guys. If they tell him he can't look for new deals they are taking advantage of him. If they tell him he is free to pursue whatever his heart desires then they are sending messages that his job isn't safe.
  2. No, the people in fact did not tune in at all.
  3. No one said the Sox didn't benefit. But they did accommodate him long before it was written into his deal. They didn't have to do it, and they did. And he left anyways.
  4. Boyer's press release is telling: It essentially reads that he accommodated Benetti for years, put up with all his BS and he has decided to leave (likely for a small raise).
  5. His above average defense is also out of character for this team.
  6. You aren't getting full value either by keeping him in years where the team is not competitive. What is closer to full value? The best offer today.... or The percentage of games played over the next 4 years where the Sox' expected World Series odds are above 2%?
  7. It's a very good point. ALL of White Sox internet is just so opposed to trading our only player of value. Complete despair, total resignation that the team is in the worst shape in decades, but somehow still want to try and piece something together? Just because it didn't work last time around doesn't mean a complete tear down is still the correct answer in this situation.
  8. Not sure I would have hired a guy that essentially coached the Yankees through the peak sign stealing era. Not saying that relaying to the batter what is coming started during the 2010s nor am I saying it ended there, but working with a guess hitting approach had to be a significant portion of what all hitting coaches did during that era. Any chance he speaks spanish?
  9. It's a guess, but a good one. When you need 2 or 3 middle infielders and are desperate to improve you defense... that doesn't leave many options.
  10. Has anyone considered the timing with KW/RH finally getting the axe? Right after the deadline. What happened at the deadline that finally got them fired? Did they sell too much? Did they not sell enough? Was the return *that* bad that it was the final straw? I think Jerry wanted more 2023 money off the books and Hahn didn't deliver. You could speculate it might explain why no one was interviewed for the job. The king of minority hiring didn't even bother talking to anyone else. Because Jerry wants to get lean and sell the team. Had he interviewed several of the top candidates that would have leaked. Not to mention, no top candidate wants that job. The plan doesn't leak if he hires his #1 boy who is happy to take the job regardless of the walking papers. I've tied this speculation in here because I expect payroll to go down.... not stay at 190.
  11. Someone amend the history books, Hahn got some serious premature credit for TA's extension. It ended up a draw at best. If a good organization grabs Tim, sticks him in LF, mixes in 25 starts at 2B, protects him a bit in a platoon that allows him to miss some tough matchups, I could see TA getting paid again, ultimately by a terrible franchise. But if said crappy club signs him this offseason to play SS, he is about 200 ABs, an injury, one final suspension, a handful of media misunderstandings and dude will be enjoying the fashion scene in Japan by 2025.
  12. It is really interesting. That offseason would have to be close to best case scenario from a dollars spent standpoint, and it adds... 1 win. The talking head that hand selected those players thinks it adds enough wins to still be woefully under .500. It really drives home how obvious selling Robert & Cease should be, but it appears the Sox aren't going to do that, nor does Sox internet even think they should.
  13. He's 25. It's time. Pair him with RHPs and have him face once through the lineup every 3-4 days, either as an opener or the first clean inning of relief. I'd do the same with Crochet. You are putting both in the best situations to succeed and the easiest way to get them to an IP number that might be able to transition to a full load in 2025. If you try and bring them along as 5 inning guys, even if they perform well, when are you going to shut them down? June 1st? If you try and deploy them as traditional short relievers and they have success, you know they will get overused and still not be a whole lot closer to being able to transition to becoming a starting pitcher. Obviously, it is difficult to burn several roster spots on pitchers being deployed in this fashion (if you are psuedo still trying to compete) but for me you are investing in your higher upside arms that could pay actual dividends. I strongly prefer this strategy to whatever they've attempted with Kopech the last two seasons.
  14. Soxfest is 85% middle aged men in Fake XXL Jerseys standing in line for autographs all weekend. That's not increasing overall viewership or youth interest. Honestly, if you are the type of fan that enjoyed Soxfest, take the money you would have spent and go to spring training. The vibe at Camelback is everything that is good about fanfests, plus good weather, and no lines.
  15. Ninety-nine problems, but no Soxfest ain't one
  16. As it's been said in many places this is likely about money. Ng probably got the extreme low end of GM dollars from the Marlins, but after winning a whopping 84 games she probably wants high end dollars. She will say the right things but this screams she wanted a raise and thinks or even knows she will get it elsewhere. Let's hope it comes from the Sox. It would kind of make the fucboy Getz hire, with zero interviews make a little more sense. The downside would be that I don't think she'd come here to safely manage the transition to a sale...
  17. Mellody Hobson buys controlling interest, hires Kim Ng and once and for all they Thelma and Louise this b**** right off the cliff.
  18. Trust me, I'm the one trying to tell people he has negative value. I was just stating his absolute maximum return. If you are moving on from him it is for the money and/or the cleaning of the clubhouse... not the return. With all of the free agents still on the board it is way to enticing this time of year to not repurpose his money and replace him with a vet minimum DH or pre-arb player. Getting DH production from the clouds seems like one of the easiest boxes to check this offseason.
  19. Out: Eloy, T/A, Vaughn In: Chapman, Duvall, Heyward, Rizzo, DeJong, Ahmed, Hedges LF: Benintendi/Duvall CF: Robert Jr RF: Heyward/Duvall 3B: Chapman SS: Ahmed/DeJong/Montgomery 2B: Moncada 1B: Rizzo C: Hedges/Lee
  20. Eloy has negative value brother. If someone thinks he's a LF you might be able to get 1 pitcher who is running out of chances... like Kopech.
  21. Deal both of them for the swingman version of themselves. Post hype/Underachieving SP type. The money due to Eloy will obv hurt his return. Vaughn being a 5'10 first baseman who can't move or hit will hurt his return. Add two more arms to the scrap heap. Use them along with Kopech/Crochett etc once thru the lineup every third day in April/May. If any of them are having success you could stretch them out as the season progresses if you want to ruin a good thing. I'd replace Vaughn with the best defender available (as I would every position player hole), probably Rizzo. I'd replace Eloy with a smiley face emoji cutout in the dugout.
  22. The Sox are not one Trevor Bauer away from winning the World Series. If the final piece to the puzzle is a high upside, high risk SP with the reputation for being unliked by teammates... and I thought the clubhouse could absorb the personality.... then maybe. But right now? Fat chance.
  23. Bauer is guilty of being dumb enough to let a girl like that get close to him. Bauer is guilty of being unliked by his peers and the media. Teach your kids that if you are dumb and piss enough people off, they will come for you, regardless if you are deserving or not. The MLBPA, the Dodgers and the media (specifically baseball media) should be ashamed of themselves and I hope they pay dearly. If Bauer comes back to the MLB I hope he tries to opt out of the union or something to shed light on how they treated him.
  24. From complaining that he was being disrespected by his current deal, to saying anything possible to remain in his current deal. Bye Tim
  25. So you want the coaches that you don't like to "coach up players". You want the GM that you don't like to make a couple trades. And you want the Sox to draft well even though you say they don't draft well. Sounds like you'd like them to start fresh with a rebuild, you just don't realize it.
