Steve Perry is a sell-out
I'm shocked that an arena rock corporate whore would jump onto any bandwagon possible.

This is ridiculous...
Chris De Luca is now reporting the Brewers will send over Prince Fielder in exchange for Joey Cora

Arizona Immigration Law
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 11:08 AM) Labor unions do a whole lot of under the table dealings also. Oh I totally agree. But to play the b...b...but unions! game when there is special interest filth on both sides is just naive.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) Just like unions. Kind of a big difference between labor unions and a self proclaimed "secretive group" wouldn't you agree?

Job Hunt Thread
Yeah that is what I am finding out. I have had two interviews and both were because of connections. My problem with some of the recruiters is that I don't have any professional experience in the field, and so most don't want to touch me. It sucks because I put myself through school (two jobs at the same time in college my senior year) and employers don't seem that impressed with it. I dunno.

Job Hunt Thread
After looking my school has no such thing. Thanks ISU for being completely worthless once again!

Job Hunt Thread

Job Hunt Thread
Bumping a potential good thread. It's tough being unemployed and trying to find a professional job. Anybody have a good place to look that isn't the careerbuilder/indeed/whatever else? I'm a finance major if that helps.

Midwest Cyclone Tuesday/Wednesday
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) I remember a tornado warning my sophomore year when I was on the 20th floor. That was kind of terrifying. Waterson resident, perhaps? I remember one my freshman year opening night for the White Sox in 2006. Ignored it to watch the game.

QUOTE (chisoxt @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 02:55 AM) In a second I would take the Cub roster and farm system over ours right now. Their 25 man roster? Yikes, absolutely not. I would easily take their farm system over ours, since ours is one of the worst in baseball. That's why the future is pretty bleak to me.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Ozzie. 88 wins is damn good. Sometimes I wonder how the frick we won that many with that team. You answered your own question.

I could name every person in that dorm room with me, the first person I hugged and the exact phone call to my dad. I want more championships. The future is somewhat bleek....

Illinois Voters
Quinn/Gianoulias. although voting Gianoulias is soooooooooo hard to do. But I think Kirk is creepy plus anyone running on the "I'm a fiscal conservative" line I won't vote for because it's never true. Also voting for Foster for my congressional district.

ESPN looking into Mel Kiper's relationship with Gary Wichard
Clausen was running a pro-style offense in college which scouts love to see. Not that Bradford wasn't either, but it was hard to evaluate him with the injuries.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) That was such a bad semester to start college. Nothing else in the world mattered at that time. THIS. Although it was a great way to meet people for me. I remember having like 15 people in my dorm room just watching game 2. October 26th, 2005 was my favorite night in college.

Trade Candidates for Kenny this offseason
Nobody wants Flowers. His stock fell hard this year. Also, most of the guys on your list are under control at a very cheap price for a few years still by their teams. If Kenny called the Dodgers and offered a package Floyd, Quentin Jackson, and Flowers he would get hung up on.

Players who failed when it counts/against the Twins
QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) Nerves? Pressing? No. No. Small sample size. Seriously, 3 at-bats.

I enjoy making rash and vague judgments within small sample sizes too.

Don't tease me Trib...
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) Aside from CF (and the failure of Anderson) can you name a single position that has remained a gaping hole over a period of multiple years that hasn't been solved, even temporarily? third base.

Ridiculously long, good Posnanski article on KW.
QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) I only see one playoff season in there. Perhaps I am a lunatic for wanting to get to to the postseason. Too many people here settle for mediocrity. This whole, "at least we're not the Royals" sentiment is depressing. Not to sound like a Cubs fan, but since when is 2 (in 2008 they had 89 wins, might win 90 games this year) a disaster? I mean I just think your rhetoric is a bit over the top.

Another ridiculously long SI.com article on KW & the Sox

Ridiculously long, good Posnanski article on KW.
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) If you read the KW article, one thing that stands out is his propensity for tinkering...it's like he can never stick with a plan for more than one year without deconstructing it and throwing together another blueprint that might lead to success or disaster, but usually ends up somewhere in the middle. And that's always the elephant in the room for the Sox...to be great, we'd have to be horrible for 3-5 years and be in a "reloading" process. The problem is that KW doesn't have the patience to do that (remember how many times they said they'd never want to go through another 2007 again, both Ozzie and KW?) and the revenue loss in terms of season tickets, walk up and advertising/sponsors would be tremendous. We'd be back to the late 80's or late 90's again and talking about moving the team even to one of the few gullible/naive and economically anomalous markets left in the US, Mexico and Caribbean. I'm just throwing s*** at the wall here, but you might be onto something there, as far as the White Sox have not shown the ability to build any kind of farm system. I'm not saying that trading away the "prospects" that they have recently (Richard, Hudson etc) was bad, because really, name anyone you want and the White Sox have been right (and yeah I'm counting Geo and Young, I'm not a believer). I think the lack of a talent pipeline is the only thing I really have not liked about KW in the 10 or so years. Admittedly, it's been better with Beckham and Sale (and I liked the Mitchell draft, the injury is just bad luck). And maybe some of this is on ownership who have been unwilling to spend money in the draft.
