bailed out.

I have the game on mute, listening to the replacements, but whatever Hawk said about that called 3rd strike is justified.

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) HI GUYS ITS JI JIM THOME. I miss the days when that site was funny.

bad defense is bad.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Orlando Cabrera is overrated. fixed. Statistically he was one of the worst hitters in the AL IIRC
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) Alexei's baseball instincts are fine, it's just his concentration and focus that are lacking. But his baseball "instincts" are a lot better than the likes of BA, Fields or Borchard, etc. Disagree. I think BA had decent ones....as long as he wasn't hitting. I think Ramirez gets by on athletic ability rather than any baseball instincts. I won't argue you on the other two guys though.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) Very hard. He'd need to learn how to hold runners on, get a read on ground balls, know when to be the cut-off man on plays to home, trail runners on extra base hits, catch pick-off throws and apply tags, do some scouting on hitters to find out there tendencies, and he'd be nowhere close to Paulie a far as making picks on bad throws. I wasn't trying to downplay 1B, but generally it is the easiest position to play.I guess my greater point that was not made clear is that I think JD has okay baseball instincts, I mean he isn't like Alexei Ramirez or anything.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) But JD needs to be a full-time DH. 5 errors and countless missed catches or balls falling out of his grasp just foul that should have been outs...not good. I always thought JD could play an adequate 1B if Paulie was ever traded. I mean how hard could it really be? I think he is athletic enough. However, with Paulies "resurgence" this might never happen.

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) anybody have a stream for the game tonight? I think this stuff is frowned upon around here...but anyways http://www.myp2p.eu/competition.php?compet...ipline=baseball you will have to download the player but it's easy.

White Sox Acquire RP Tony Pena from ARI for Brandon Allen
Paint it Black replied to chetkincaid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Meh, this sounds like a case of a prospect getting too hyped up but certain people and web sites. Besides, power hitting first baseman are pretty easy to come by. I like this move considering Linebrick has shown he is consistently awful in the second half. -
I have not read any of this thread, but we have been sellers all season. It's time guys. This current team is nowhere near a championship, and thus, need to sell anything not tied down. If someone was stupid enough to give you anything for Pods/Contreras/Konerko/Thome do it immediately. I think Dye, Jenks, and Dotel have some decent value where a "bidding war" could happen, for lack of a better term.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) I hate Ozzie's use of Thornton so much. After the 3 run hr, you have to f***ing pull Linebrink. He pitched a ton of pitches and wasnt even good. How can every Sox fan understand this, but f***ing Ozzie screws it. 4 runs in 1 god damn inning, Id rather have f***ing brought in Jenks when it was 5-1 still and 2 men on base. It's drives me up a wall that Ozzie didn't use one of the two best relievers (IMO Jenks or Thornton) when the best hitters are up (i.e. the heart of the order). Whatever, though. Annoyed more than ever.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) I'd take MacDougal over Linebrink now. Linebrink is a one pitch pitcher, and that one pitch is the straightest fastball in the majors. apparently you're not too concerned about throwing strikes... Look up Linebrinks stats people. Over his whole career he has sucked in the second half. This is no shocker.

GameThread: White Sox(27-31) vs Tigers(31-26) 7:11 CSN+

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) If we get after these guys for showing enthusiasm, then we cant have the opposite concern (that almost all of us do)...that they play passionless and solely for the money. Here's a guy showing he actually enjoys the game - i wish more were like that. No, I just wish guys would act like they have done it before (see: Marino Rivera). -

why is Dontrelle Willis such a spas? I can only imagine if he put half the effort into pitching as he does being a spas.... -
THE OFFICIAL SOXTALK 2009 MLB DRAFT THREAD
Paint it Black replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
according to Keith Law: 'His problem is at the plate, where his swing is long and his trigger -- a toe tap and big stride that closes his stance -- comes very late. When he squares something up, it takes off, but the squaring-up frequency isn't high enough and his pitch recognition isn't advanced enough yet to overcome the problems in his swing." So basically he'll fit right in with this organization. -

Josh Fields questions future with White Sox
Paint it Black replied to chisox2334's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Josh has shown he has the ability, as his performance showed in 2007. I get what he is saying in some ways. He had a very short leash last year, and has it this year as well. Does anybody remember how bad Joe Crede was offensively AND defensively when he first started his white sox career? Just sayin' people. I guess what I am trying to get at is some kind of bigger picture. Ozzie has shown a quick hook with younger players (Anderson, Fields, and so far Beckham as well) while "established," albeit awful veterans get playing time and this is troubling to me. -
When should Greg Walker be fired?
Paint it Black replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 06:17 PM) I'd just like to see this team at least once take the approach of taking pitches the other way. Goddamn...it's not Rocket Science. THAT falls on Walker and the horses*** approach most have on this team. If our players need a coach to tell them to "take pitches" then we have waaaay bigger problems... but I understand the point you are making. However, they are hitting tonight, so is the fiery mob settled down a bit? -
Tigers @ White Sox GAME 1 1:05pm WGN-HD
Paint it Black replied to WSoxMatt's topic in 2009 Season in Review
QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) Except in 2006 there was no need for extra offense in CF because the whole damn team was hitting AND MackowiaK wasn't a good hitter. Right now they need the bat, and he's hitting. I'll ask you this: who leads off if not Pods? Uggh I don't even want to think about it, considering Pods really isn't any good at leading off either. I mean your point it well taken, and just shows what a sorry sack of s*** this team is. -

Kenny Williams, I'd like you to meet onbase percentage.

Paint it Black replied to WSoxMatt's topic in 2009 Season in Review
QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) Mother of God, do you realize that he's the only guy on the team that is actually hitting? He better be in center. no no no. Talk about shades of Rob Mackowiak. And Pods won't do this all year. Stop fooling yourself. and that f*** first pitch swinging? awesome.
