QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) I think as long as there were so many lights I couldn't see the audience I could do a bang up job. I would Slam my fists down over and over and Point my fingers at the audience and yell at them. kinda like this

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 11:30 PM) Well, you wouldn't of had to throw it practically every time, and so that might have took more time off the clock, if you still had a good RB. No, they aren't. They were the 59th best "total defense" last year, while Wisconsin by 38th, Michigan was 24th, and Ohio State was 1st. Did you watch the game? It's hard to run when a defender already has you wrapped up right when you get the ball. -

Can't be too upset as an Illini fan. That is no doubt the best offense we play this year. Secondary was my big concern coming into the season especially at safety losing Harrison and Mitchell. Too many big plays given up on defense and special teams. Surprised we could not run at all in the first half. The good...Juice looks like a lot better passer this year just needs to relax and not throw as hard as he can like he does sometimes. He made some nice touch passes that really show some potential. He's got a few options to throw to at wideout now nice to see Duvalt and Judson step up. Good to see the team not give up in the 3rd after falling behind 25. We got EIU and ULL coming up the next 2 weeks. -
I say go with the vulture. He'd be pretty much guaranteed to win since that is what he's been doing all year.
-
Another question...will another game thread be started or will someone dig up the one from April 28 and just use that? So much confusion with this unique situation.
-
Yeah...I get BTN w/ Dish and there's about 4 or 5 overflow channels so you'll get all of the games.

QUOTE (jeffthedude @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) If you can't expect them to sweep Oakland, then you certainly can't expect them to make the playoffs. This is probably the easiest stretch of the season for us (KC-Oakland-Seattle), and there comes a point in the season when you look at the schedule and say, yes, they need to win these games. This is a series the Twins would have swept. Actually, it's a series most teams would have--Oakland has won something like 4 games out of the last 30. We have lots of games against Boston, Tampa, New York, and the Angels coming up. Who really thinks we're not headed for total destruction in those games, especially considering how most people realize we're going to get swept by the Twins at the end of the season? I mean, this is a team actually thinks Ken Griffey is a major league center fielder, traded the farm for "Dirty .230" Swisher, does not have anything close to a fifth starter, and would have a losing record were it not for the stroke of luck that is Carlos Quentin. If after all that you STILL somehow think this team can make the playoffs, the least you should expect is a sweep of the AAAthletics. you seem like a fun guy to be around.

Danks, Carrasco, Thornton, Jenks!!!

Pretty sure BA was on my list. I've always felt he got a raw deal after 2006. His .225 avg while batting 9th in the order was not even close to being the reason we missed the playoffs that year and he is the best defensive centerfielder the Sox have had in recent years. I think it is pretty apparent that this list will be loaded with recent players since many members of this site are in their 20s. The farthest my memories of Sox players go back is early 90s and that is stretching it because I didn't really get into the Sox until the late 90s.

ESPN is reporting that Brett Favre actually has one more year of eligibility left and is going to come back and play for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles this year. Stunning development! -
If anyone wants good entertainment I suggest going back and reading pages 45-52 of the game thread.
-
I'd like to thank the Mariners front office for not trading Raul Ibanez...until we play them of course because he kills us but good to see him rake against someone else as well.
-
Wow! As others have said this was the game of the year. Hopefully this carries over to the rest of this homestand and for these last couple months into the playoffs.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) We need Crede, Contreras, and Linebrink back. A lineup simular to this would be awesome, but most of all, the bullpen needs to pitch like they were when Joe Morgan said they might be the best bullpen ever. I still say he's the jinx. Cabrera Pierzynski Quinten Dye Thome Griffey Konerko Crede Ramirez I'd prefer... Cabrera Pierzynski Quintin Dye Thome Ramirez Griffey Crede Swisher But who would have thought we could miss Contreras so much. Getting him and Linebrinnk back will help a lot just with the teams mindset. Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, Vasquez, Contreras 7th-Dotel/Thornton 8th-Linebrink 9th-Jenks Back to the way things were in May and June. Who says we're out of this thing? We just need to get healthy.

Last night was definitely bigger. More enjoyable for me would have to be last night as well simply because I was at work during the win on Wednesday and last night I was listening on the radio until the very end so I obviously went nuts when JD went deep.

what a couple of wins in a row! huge!

Sent...just in time! If the two Jose's (Paniagua and Canseco) aren't #1 and #2 I demand a recount!

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:26 AM) Never mind, looks like I'm too late. I think he means tonight as in Wednesday night. At least I hope so cause I have yet to get my list in.

I'm also very surprised with all the Maggie hate. I mean she is no Angelina Jolie sure but she is a much better actress than Holmes and at least imo better looking. She's kinda got the girl next door thing going on. As for the movie itself. It's a little ridiculous that imdb users have it as the #1 movie of all time. And by a little I mean a whole hell of a lot. It was the best superhero movie of all time imo but come on people lets not get carried away. Doubtful that they'll be able to make another one as good as this one especially now without the Joker or perhaps another actor portraying the Joker. Anyone heard from Nolan whether that would even be an option and if so anyone have any ideas who may be a good replacement?

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) I'd love to see those '80s uniforms used as alternates more often. They looked really nice yesterday and brought back some great memories. I wouldn't. Leave the 80s in the 80s. Plus, everytime we break out special unis (1983, camo, etc.) it seems like we lose. -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) If they are so worried about Kazmir and Webb pitching why are they there. New Rule: Don't go to the game and take up a roster spot if your pussy ass can't pitch.

Josh Hamilton Presents the 2008 Home Run Derby

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) I agree it was impressive, but I hope ESPN doesn't over sensationalize this as the GREATEST THING EVER IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL! Haha...they already said this is one of the things that people will remember about Yankee Stadium after it's torn down. Bulls***. People forget about the HR Derby around oh...Friday when actual baseball games start up again. -
Used to be 7 3/8 but either my head is getting bigger or my hats are shrinking cause it's now 7 1/2 and I got a bunch of Sox hats that don't fit me anymore.

God hates Josh Hamilton -
I still buy cds but I recently purchased my first iPod and find it much easier to use that for my car rather than having to drag each cd around everywhere. I'll continue to buy cds because I find myself flipping through the booklets every once in awhile when I'm listening to an album and have nothing better to do.
