  1. I used to be convinced that there had to have been a second shooter. After looking at some things recently though I'm not so sure. The things that I find most interesting are the strange events that followed including Jack Ruby's involvement, what happened with certain evidence, and various quotes from people involved.
  2. The 45th Anniversary was this weekend and I've seen a few things on TV regarding the topic so I was just wondering where Soxtalk stands on this issue.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Real nice win for Illinois tonight That is a game that they would lose last year without a doubt. I think they were perfect from the free throw line which was the difference in the game.
  4. Illinois up 1 at the half but is going to have to limit their turnovers to hold on for the win. Vandy started making some plays late in the half and actually had about a 6 point lead before Illinois went on a little run to get the lead back with McCamey's 3 to end the half.
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 07:46 AM) Illinois is in Nashville to take on my Commodores tonight...should be a good game...We are a tough, tough team to beat at home, but we are so young and Illinois has alot of experience that should help...Kevin "from the office" Stallings and Bruce Weber are also very good friends which should make this an interesting matchup....i'll say vandy pulls out a close one Meh...Vandy should win by 10 or more. I hope I'm wrong but Illinois really isn't all that experienced either to be honest. And the seniors we do have just aren't very talented. I really do like what I've seen from Mike Davis though. He'll be a big part of the team's success this year and into the future. Tisdale needs to start playing better and I'm afraid he may struggle against Ogilvy. Still...we have the same problem as last year in that we don't have any players, outside of Meacham and sometimes McCamey, that can hit a jump shot. I think once Alex Legion joins the team it will help the offense a lot and they should be much better by the end of the season than they are right now.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) I bet it is still nominated for Best Picture. As I said before, the Academy loves anything to which Eastwood is connected. He could film himself taking a crap for 3 hours, and you'd better believe it'd be up for Best Picture and Best Actor. No...It may get a Best Actress nomination for Angelina but the reviews are not good enough to warrant Best Picture. I would think Gran Torino probably has a good chance at a Best Picture nomination though.
  7. I'm not liking this move immediately but I'll cut Kenny some slack with the success he has had recently. I'm assuming quite a few more moves will be made before the end of the offseason and this is all just part of the plan.
  8. So it is now provocative to ask "why believe in a god?" I would assume that any human with half a brain has asked himself this question many times before? How exactly is that provocative? I would think that the only reason a religious person would find this provocative or offensive is if they are insecure in their faith and why they believe in God. Otherwise, they would have an answer for the question and just move on with their life.
  9. Ah yes...I see we can have God and Jesus shoved down our throats every block of every town in the nation but 1 ad campaign asking why people believe in an invisible man in the clouds is just taking it way too far.
  10. Interesting Poll On the Topic It seems that Jews, women, and Hispanics are likely to be the next to reach the White House. A homosexual is more likely than an atheist. I would like to see where Muslims would rank in this poll. I'm assuming somewhere near homosexuals but still above atheists.
  11. This ballgame is ova!!! Barack Obama, the Junior Senator from Illinois, is going to be the 44th President of the United States of America! YES!!!
  12. Keep an eye on the Mississippi Senate Race Musgrove vs. Wicker. The fact that Miss hasn't been called for McCain gives me hope that the Dems could still get to 60 seats if they win that one.
  13. QUOTE (Soxy @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) Please please please no Michelle Bachman or Norm Coleman. Those were the two I was gonna mention. C'mon Minnesota don't let me down.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) I got a 73% on this quiz. 75% Booyah!
  15. 1 vote for Obama/Biden 1 vote for Dick Durbin 1 vote for Steve Cox in the 15th Congressional District Did not vote in the uncontested races Voted No to the Convention Voted No to all the judges being retained
  16. Obama - 326 McCain - 212 Split the "battleground" states into 3 categories w/ my predictions... Toss Up Florida - McCain Missouri - McCain Montana - McCain North Carolina - Obama North Dakota - McCain Ohio - Obama Close Georgia - McCain Indiana - McCain Nevada - Obama Virginia - Obama Close...but not too close Arizona - McCain Colorado - Obama New Hampshire - Obama Pennsylvania - Obama I hoping I'm wrong and it's an Obama landslide but honestly I will take an Obama win even if its 270-268. I'm one of the few that still thinks McCain has a chance to win this thing. We did elect Bush twice after all.
  17. I'll be switching between CNN and MSNBC. Probably just DVR the Comedy Central Special and watch it after everything has calmed down a bit later in the evening.
  18. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 06:06 PM) no way. if someone needs to be bribed to vote they need to just stay at home. Agreed. Bad idea. Back on topic. I don't see how 1 day off every 2 or 4 years to allow people more opportunity to take part in their civic duty could hurt. I say get rid of Presidents Day and/or Columbus Day and replace it with Election Day even on Midterm election years. Also, what does everyone think of having a National Primary? I'm somewhat conflicted on whether it would be good or bad for the process.

I saw Religulous this weekend. Liked it. Nothing groundbreaking and you pretty much get what you would expect from a Bill Maher documentary. It had me laughing all the way throughout until about the last 5 minutes but it does leave you thinking about an important topic that I think too many people just ignore or are afraid to discuss.
  20. 2005 ALCS Game 2 My dad was at the JOE CREDE! vs. Cleveland game in September 2005 but he left when it went extra innings and I still give him crap for it. And coming soon...2008 ALDS Game 3
  21. Just gotta say how satisfying this win was I'm still sort of feeling the effects of it. Before the game was the most pumped I've ever been for a game (even more than any of the '05 playoffs). Simply because it was a single game that determined our whole season, no second chances if we lost like in a playoff series. Plus it was the Twins and after seeing them celebrate last week it was so nice to see our guys return the favor. Talk about a change in momentum/confidence/attitude after last week. I hope these guys can ride this wave for another 11 wins!
  22. Anybody have links to some photos of the celebration from Tuesday? Also isn't there a way to get a larger version of these photos? http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/teams/photos/CHW I'm pretty sure I've done it before but I don't remember what the secret is?
  23. 1 drink everytime McCain says "my friends"
  24. Martin Luther King Jr. was a community organizer. About the speech I don't think it was what she needed to do. That speech is not going to get many people in the middle to look very kindly upon her. This speech was her introduction to the nation and the only people that it truly appealed to are the right wing conservatives who already supported McCain so while it may motivate the base it won't win many new votes.
