QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) Month for most home games September .........JR can't be very happy. Also 1 off day in April very strange. But only two weekend series that month. August has three weekend series.

I think cooper needs to go more than Williams or Hahn.

QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) thanks on many counts and you are 100% correct. the sox fans, except before this yr, did not and will not support a full rebuild. they will show their displeasure by not showing up or spending good money on crap. that has always forced the owners hand to do it correct or even go further than ok in acquiring players. this is the a good enuf span that i can remember in a long time when i seen a time of the org in this state of hopelessness. easy was for me to explain it, a ship without a captain who has a clue of what to do. Sox fans don't support the team at all, rebuild or not.

Joe Jackson reinstatement request denied

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 07:29 AM) That's fine, but almost all the evidence points to him most likely not being in on it. He took money. -

I think Jackson was guilty. But i also think a lifetime ban is just that. Jackson has been gone over 60 years. Let the hall decide his fate. Same as rose. He should not be alive to enter the hall. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Regarding your post ... I know baseball can't be compared to the real world, but there are gads of White Sox employees behind the scenes involved trying to make a living here ... and failing. Can you believe the White Sox higher ups were dumb enough to believe this team would be able to vie for a one-game wildcard thus made NO MOVES at the break? In the real world, this is unacceptable and so many people are fired. For instance ... the projection was totally incorrect. Whether it was Hahn, Kenny, Robin ... unless it was Jerry (which it could have been), heads should roll. The Sox had a lot of bodies that could have been dealt for some valuable pieces. Just the fact they probably could have gotten rid of last winter's acquisitions and failed to pull the trigger on trades is unacceptable. We should right now be like Detroit, starting a rebuild without Melky, LaRoche, Robertson, Duke. Those 4 guys could have been dealt and think of the $$$ it woulda freed to try for better players. As far as your main point in your post, just as the Ozzie era pretty much had to end, this Robin era has to end. You all get mad at me for repeating myself, but nobody seems to address my comment. How in the hell can we expect to avoid a season-opening sweep against whatever Central Division team we open with next year and how in the hell can we expect to avoid the same pattern of s***tiness (bad performance on road; bad performance in all divisional games, only a so-so performance at home) under Robin and his staff?? The White Sox utter failure the last 2 seasons means the whole coaching staff and most of the front office needs to go. Now will it magically improve the White Sox? Probably not, but we know one thing: The pattern has been set in stone and this regime won't be able to change the discourse. Who is with me: FIRE EVERYBODY (staff and most of the everyday players). -- p.s. If they hire Dave Martinez or Alomar or Bell, I am going to puke. As far as GM ... Dombrowski was available. Now he's not. Detroit traded players who had expiring contracts and no compensation picks.

Sox have tried to sign Samardzija to a long term deal

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) There is a clear line between being a fan, and a writing and article for the papers. This looks like something that would have been posted to the White Sox facebook page. It's a blog post on a radio stations website. And you should have heard him on the radio with these stats. -
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) She's been there forever. Seasonal though. Sox don't typically sell things at the right prices, just been my experience. As you told me years ago, they'll always order a ton and we'll see them at the sale this winter for $25+. Hope the Abreu from SoxFest is there, was disappointed that wasn't sold last week. Landed a bunch of autographed balls for $20, but really would like an Abreu! Considering that the day of game workers cant get these items, it seems fair the sox are letting them in on what looks to be insane pricing.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) I am surprised no one has said this yet, but this article was embarrassingly devoid of any substance at all. It was a mix of innuendo and insults, with no corroborating evidence or information. It reads like a fan wrote it. Holmes should be embarrassed to have his name attached to that steaming pile of garbage. Holmes is a fan. One of the few the sox have on the wcubs, I mean wscr -
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) Kudos to you! What gate did you use? Cause it wouldn't have worked at the gate I used. I was told that by an employee who I see / talk to at most games. She had no reason to lie. It was an offer to people that work there, not a garage sale or public sale. Not something the Sox do on the regular either, that is what she told me. If that's the case they threw money away. $5 for a ring that is $60'on eBay is nuts. Was this lady a full time staffer, or a seasonal staffer? Because I'm going to bug my guys about this!

White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) South: I suspect things like this have been going on for decades, all under the table. I respect your viewpoint but if that's what it takes to win, then so be it. This isn't a morality play, it's a business...and for the last decade basically business has been very poor. Mark When you have $200 million dollar investments in players, that thinking goes out the window FAST. -

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) All's fair in love and war. If this was a quid pro quo deal more power to Epstein. Wish the Sox were smart enough to do something like that. Mark You mean to circumvent the rules, written and unwritten? Hoyer has long been theo the boy genius' b****. -
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) What is a sellout? 39k? So you do 35k. It just sucked trying to get in. Rings were gone by 12:30, plenty of folks didn't get one. If you have people going for you, yeah, you can get plenty if you are there early enough. That day, the in and out would have been tough. They also sold the rings to employees this past week, $5 each. Bobbles for $3. It was easy. I just walked in and out 11 times( my wife went in once, and my neighbor went twice) As for the $5 ring sale, where u hear this? Considering they sold the Fisk statues at the garage sale a week after handing them out at a game for $40, I don't believe you. Also, I know for a fact that back door deals are not tolerated.

I wonder why he wasn't placed on waivers earlier in the month. Also, I wonder who else has been put on waivers?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) I guess that's the main thing, if they don't need the payroll flexibility. It just seems silly for a non-competing team to owe a closer $35 million for 3 years. They clearly wanted him for four years. That's why they signed him for four years

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) Without a doubt. He is one of the most hated players in the league by teammates. There is a reason that he needs to travel from team to team. He is truly one of the most dislikable people you've ever met. In Baseball he is on par with Bonds and sheffield. He spent 8 years in Chicago. And he was only traded from the twins to make room for mauer, the local boy who just happens to be the #1 pick in the draft. And after he left the sox, can you really blame a team for giving a guy a one year deal when he's 37?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) Is it safe to say Joey Belle was the meanest person in Sox history? Or is there anybody else rivaling him? Seems like he was a pretty big prick especially judging the one story about him calling one of the Soxtalk members a xxxxxx for taking his pic in spring training. That's pretty bad. I can see why some dont wanna sign autographs, but a picture? Cmon Joey. Ask steff

#KennyWatch begins; aka M's fire Jack Z

QUOTE (VAfan @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 05:26 PM) We drafted Sale and Rodon and Fullmer. We stole Quintana for nothing. We unloaded Jake Peavy for something in return. We got rid of Alex Rios. We signed Jose Abreu on a very reasonable contract. We extended Sale and Quintana on very team-friendly deals. There are a lot of things the Sox have done right. The worst move in my mind was hiring Robin Ventura, then extending him. And it's fair to hang that on Kenny Williams. I used to like KW, and was glad we had him. Now I would tend to agree with those who would be fine if he left. But for my money I'd rather the team lose Ventura and get a real manager. I think that will have more impact on the field than what Williams does. Hahn extended him. -
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) I get some extras too, to trade mostly. If the Sox were better on the field, they'd have better returns. Konerko Day there were lines like crazy, that SHOULD have been an all fan giveaway. Same with the ring. But yeah, as it stands, no need to have 40k these days. Milwaukee gives you one bobble per ticket, wish the Sox would do that. Make my life a bit easier. Sox had 33k paid for ring day. Far from a sellout. ( I also got 13 rings that day)
-
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) I did too, but on the Kids Club Southpaws. Ha. They were a bit steeper, $5 each. Not as many people hate southpaw circa December 2013

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
ewokpelts replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) Of course Danks is the guy you want to move. Now which bad contract are you willing to take on to do it? Simple. Eat his contract. Something the sox are loath to do. -

ewokpelts replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No matter what, they need to be less lefty heavy. Four LHP starters is too much. That said, the LHP to move should be Danks. Q's contract is too team friendly. I also think rodon should be back in the minors next year. -
Quick sidebar: The nex t bobble for dye is this Saturday. Prices on stubhub? $7 and up, same as the box office. That's why the sox don't do all fans. They don't draw much above and beyond the 20k they announce to give out. Never mind a chunk of those are guys like me going on and out for dupes.

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) This bobblehead hobby is BIG. At the last White Sox bobblehead giveaway (Scotty Pods) I met somebody who is a big time bobblehead collector. He said he has over 1,200 different bobbleheads. I thought he was kidding. He took out his smartphone and showed me pictures of his mancave/bobblehead room. He wasn't kidding. Space is the killer with bobbles. That and dust bunnies
