  1. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 08:33 AM) ' I took a look at Peegs and oh god there was a "Flight tracker says there was plane flying from Bloomington to Boston yesterday." If Stevens came here I'd happily eat my shoe, but he's not leaving Boston after only two seasons. How did college coaching rumors start before the availability of flight trackers?
  2. QUOTE (South Sider @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 07:44 AM) Up to the Hawks to win it tonight. None of this playing down to your competition nonsense. Edmonton is going to bring it tonight and the Hawks need to be on top of their game. Nashvilles dropped 5 in a row and St. Louis lost last night too. If the Hawks can get on a roll here... first in the division may still be possible. If they didn't blow that 8-game homestand, they could be sitting pretty right now.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) Apparently Briggs will not be a Bear next year. http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/source-lan...turn-bears-2015 That's good. He's past his prime and seemed to be a major headache in the locker room. That being said, he was a hell of a player for the Bears. Always overshadowed by #54, he was probably just as good, if not better.
  4. Awesome!! Congrats to you and the family!
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) Kershaw 6 up, 6 down, and no one has even hit the ball hard. In vintage non-October form
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) 10-8 over an 11-7 B10 team doesn't have too many precedents. How many 11-7 teams have had home losses to two sub-150 ranked teams?
  7. Teuvo to take a seat Friday night for Desjardins. Q has never met a tough guy he didn't like
  8. I think you guys are really underestimating how many fans the Cubs would get in Milwaukee. It's not THAT far, and there are plenty of Cubs "fans" in between Wrigleyville & the state line, not to mention tons in Wisconsin itself too. On like two days notice when the hurricane hit Houston, they got over 23k at Miller Park when Zambrano threw the no-hitter. Would they draw more total at the Cell? Probably, but it wouldn't be that significant.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) Beilien likes having Spike take the ball out when a 6'9 guy is guarding the in bounds and refused to foul up 3 with 10 secs left...twice. Guys missed FTs as well. Didn't that cost them the Illinois game too? I remember a few inbounding turnovers late with Egwu in his face.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) Abt had some ridiculous range that was $50k! It was a 60" or something like that but looked vintage. edit: here it is, looks awesome in the right home but jesus that price I've got a friend who found a "broken" Viking 48" on Craigslist for $1000. One of the burners wasn't working, but it took a buddy of his less than an hour to fix it ( I think the ignitor had gone out). So while "used" might be a hard sell, if you can get what's essentially a $10k stove for $1k it might be worth it. edit: have you thought about induction? cooks as well as gas supposedly but the stovetop stays cool to the touch, and it can boil a pot of water in 60-90 seconds. I saw that thing at ABT, that's just crazy. It doesn't help shack much, but in Chicago, ABT is the only way to go with appliances.
  11. We just picked out all new appliances for our new kitchen a weeks ago. We went with mostly all Whirlpool appliances, the higher end of their models. Except for the drawer microwave, which they don't make yet I believe. That's gonna be a great space saver, but man are they expensive. Unfortunately, this weather has delayed our construction and they can't seem to finish the framing, so I don't have any reviews for you. Hopefully we can start using these by summer.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 3, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) Choke Job by Georgia, wow. Missed free throws It's cause ESPN stopped showing the Serbian kid's dad and his mullet.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 3, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) McCoy to Buffalo for Kiko. Will be official next week. Huh? At first look, what a great trade by Philly
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) CBS Sports MLB ‏@CBSSportsMLB 1h1 hour ago Yankees' Chris Young struck out in an intrasquad game ... against a pitching machine http://cbsprt.co/1zSNMZy I did the same thing last Saturday night. At Sluggers. Drunk. Do you wanna sign me Yankees?
  15. Illinois could also use the other bubble teams to stop winning. BYU & Boise State may have passed them up Saturday night with huge road wins
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 3, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) Pretty lame if you have to do this and are considered a "basketball school". http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/438/...e/p2p-82963287/ That was so 2004. It's a "golf/tennis school" now. Country Club U baby!
  17. Didn't expect so many spirited opinions about Cleveland, thanks for the entertainment guys! We are just there late Friday to mid-Sunday with the wedding Saturday night, so just need to entertain ourselves Saturday during the day. Sounds like the RR HOF should do the trick, unless I decide to help the struggling local economy at the casino all day. Figure on Friday night finding a sports bar to watch hockey shouldn't be too tough in the middle of the downtown area. One shocking thing I learned today is that Cleveland actually has a subway system, I did not expect that.
  18. Got a very exciting trip to beautiful Cleveland this weekend for a wedding. Anyone ever been to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Worth a visit?
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 04:53 PM) Casino night? Nice change of pace from just going out for drinks. This is a good idea. Head out to the Rivers, they have a separate bar/club so you can still get really drunk if you want. Pick up some suburban chicks or some conventioners
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) Garfien just said Sox tickets sales are up 50% from the same time last year. What's 50% of zero?
  21. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) also, as Sox: Dunn: -1.2 fWAR Pierre: 1.5 fWAR The version of Pierre the Sox got the first year they had him was a better player than Dunn as a Sox without a doubt. 2011 Adam Dunn: -3.0 fWAR. That can not be mentioned enough
  22. QUOTE (South Sider @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Vermette looks thrilled to be on this team, judging by his intermission interview. As a fan, that's really cool to see! I'm happy to have him here And don't look now, but the Predators might finally be coming back to earth. Other than the weather, I can't imagine there is much positive about playing for the Coyotes. Major breath of fresh air for him. Ben Smith flew to SJ right after being traded, played last night and scored a goal and an assist, good for him.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) Only they didn't. Houston did. But the quote was referring to the Yankees, not the Astros. The Yankees never even made him a formal offer. Either way, I can slightly alter my post. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 2, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) I'd find it awfully refreshing if one of these athletes had the balls to tell the truth and say "I chose the White Sox because they offered me the 2nd most money and that's what's important because it's my best chance for a payday and athlete's careers are short."

  25. Every dollar counts nowadays. I wonder if this means Tuevo will find himself in the everyday lineup or not. Desjardins can play wing too, but the C spot is kind of set with Toews/Vermette/Richards/Kruger
