QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) so when garnett and allen joined pierce in boston they didn't know they'd play for a championship? They must have been pissed. And apparently, if the Bulls got Bosh and Wade, they'd be like the TrailBlazers from two years ago. Is this guy seriously thinking this stuff is actually legit?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) I think he's just looking at things from the perspective of the players. If it weren't about money, this would all be sorted out by now. He seems to think that wherever these guys go, they will get no endorsement money, win no championships, etc. That might be the case for Bosh, but Wade and LeBron are beyond that.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) That was nowhere near being close to his 140 character limit. I know, but it makes people do stuff like Gonzales just did.

This is why Twitter sucks... The limit of 140 characters makes people think they're texting. We need to understand you!

Bucher must have no heart, all he talks about is money, money, then some more money.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) LaRoche has better power but other than that, they are very simlar. Plus LaRoche has played mainly in the weaker NL. averge stats projected over a 162 game season for their career. LaRoche: AB-558, R-79,H-152, 2B-39, 3B-1, HR-26, RBI-92, BA-.272 Teahen: AB-588, R-81, H-158, 2B-34, 3B-6, HR-14, RBI-69, BA .268 I'm not saying Teahen is as good but I wouldn't give up a whole lot for LaRoche becuase in half a season he's not going to be significantly better than Teahan. At least, in my mind. You're forgetting that LaRoche's career OPS is .831. Teahen's? .748. Not to mention that LaRoche is a great second half hitter. I can care less for almost every number you put up there. Most of those are counting or team-oriented stats and reflect next to nothing about individual offensive performance.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Well, i think LaRoche's production won't be much better, if any, than Teahen's. So,using that theory, we might as well just wait on Mark. . My order of preference for guys we have mentioned is: 1-Fielder 2-Upton 3-Dunn 4-Berkman 5-LaRoche other possibilities that have had little, or no mention are: Corey Hart Ludwick Huff Overbay Fukudome Aramis Ramirez. You can't be serious. Mark Teahen's about as average as you can get. LaRoche's actually a GOOD offensive player and has been for his entire career.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Buehrle earned his 10/5 rights last night, im surprised this wasn't talked about on a bigger scale here on SoxTalk Because we know that as long as this team is in this race, Buehrle's not going anywhere.

7/6 - Los Angeles vs. Chicago
White Sox have the second best bullpen in baseball, best in the AL. They also have the second best rotation in baseball. All of this results in them being the second best pitching staff in baseball and the best in the AL.
-
7/6 - Los Angeles vs. Chicago
The White Sox have two of the most valuable relievers in baseball in Putz and Thornton. Thornton leads all of the AL in reliever WAR (second in all of baseball, only to Jonathan Broxton). Putz is 10th.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) I would think so, and I HATE that Kaplan is going around reporting this. Bulls supposedly might have a couple trades for Deng locked up. I hope Kaplan doesn't screw it all up. And yes I would love the deal cause I'm a huge Bayless fan as a backup PG. Incredible potential. Probably the 2nd or 3rd most athletic PG in the NBA. This rumor has been around for a couple of days now.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) if we are like 4 mil under 2 max FA's then why would we do this deal if we are going to be still a few mill over what we need to be at? Beats me.

Pryzbilla will make $7.4 million this year, contract expires after this next season. Bayless makes $2.2 million. We would save about $2 million in the process.

Kaplan reports that the Bulls have a trade in place to for Luol Deng to Portland for Bayless + Pryzbilla. Kaplan's actually going on a Portland radio station.

Thibbs is a good hire. Trading Hinrich away won't be bad at all if we can get a big free agent.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) The thought of Kotsay or Pierre in CF, even if only a few times, makes me want to cry. I still think we should DFA Jones ASAP, but I wanted to throw that concern out there as a consequence of such a move. I can live with Pierre, but Kotsay?

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) So what you are saying is that David Lee would be a good option for Ozzie's White Sox? Pretty much. Plus, he'll be the cheapest of the three.

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) I know that's the consensus, but why? Also, from my point of view, if you can get Lebron, does it really matter a whole bunch who the PF (out of those 3) is with Rose, Lebron, and Noah? Bosh fits best in this case because he has the most talent and can compliment somebody like Noah, who is a garbage scoring center and can get him offensive boards. Bosh is the best shooter of the 3. David Lee is also a decent mid range shooter, but he's an effort guy, talent's not quite there. Boozer can post up a bit and has a signature turnaround shot. He's not bad, just hurt too much.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) My only concern here is the idea that a deal with Toronto is being held back by Noah (we're not even sure if that's true though). I know Noah for Bosh doesn't get you all that much better, but I think it's a risk you have to take in order to improve your chances with LeBron and Wade if the opportunity is there. Beyond that, I think as much as everybody (me included) panics at new reports, they're probably all lies anyways. I'm really thinking that LeBron is going back to Cleveland. It's really a battle for Bosh right now. Whoever gets Bosh might end up landing Wade as well.
