  1. I don't need to blame anyone. They need a hitting department. Alan Zinter was hired as minor league hitting coordinator and the coaches have focused on approach which I think is a good thing. They likely need a lot more employees though. An organizational director of hitting with everything flowing down makes sense to me and I think it's coming. It's been a rough year. The roving instructors made really meaningful changes with George Wolkow and Bryan Ramos has noted the same recently as well. They've drafted and acquired players with on base ability who have controlled the strike zone. I like the strategy. It just takes a long time.
  2. We released our top 30 list this week. Read it here: https://www.futuresox.net/2024/08/27/futuresox-2024-mid-white-sox-t30/
  3. Is this a serious question? They have a ton of pitching depth and some high end options. Their pitching infrastructure is awesome right now and it's the reason why the White Sox have an upper third system. I don't give Janish the credit for the pitching either but I also wouldn't blame the lack of hitting development on him either.
  4. Does Paul Janish get any credit for the pitching development?
  5. I believe Chuck asked a question about him being fun and entertaining etc
  6. Mt. Carmel recruits all over the Chicagoland area from the south burbs and the city itself. Loyola gets every catholic school on the north shore. They're both powerhouses but they should be because they recruit from all over. It's why it was extra sweet when we beat Loyola at Loyola in 2021 in the semis on our way to a state title.
  7. The trend is that it's four dudes with premium upside and one low upside college bat. And please enlighten me on which ones he didn't push for? I don't know that Hagen Smith was his preferred path. He was the scouting director but the scouting director has bosses.
  8. I'm not talking about personnel moves. Manager from the outside, new international director and new facility in the DR plus a director of hitting. If he does those things, I'll feel much better.
  9. I coach at Lockport. Looking forward to getting going.
  10. This isn't true from what I understand but also, which one of these guys is unlike the others? Garrett Crochet, Colson Montgomery, Noah Schultz, Jacob Gonzalez and Hagen Smith. Jeremy Haber
  11. I'm not sure that that is the only thing he's done right. It hasn't gone well so far. I need more time though. I need to see what moves are made on the front office side this offseason. It's a really important winter. I run the White Sox prospect blog, FutureSox. I really don't get very much access and it doesn't influence my coverage. I criticize the team all the time when I feel it's warranted.
  12. The pitching infrastructure and development is really good and they’re building a new Dominican Academy. That’s about all I got right now though.
  13. This thread is humorous to me. Chris Getz is in year one. I can’t argue that he’s good but he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. What a massive waste of time.
  14. The person mostly responsible for Jacob Gonzalez is no longer in the org. I’d bet on the pick having significantly more upside than that.
  15. Reinsdorf is lazy. That doesn’t really have any bearing on what happens now though. It is what it is. Agreed Right but there’s nothing we can do about it. Hopefully he hires other guys like Brian Bannister For sure. It’s a tiny sample though. We have no idea yet.
  16. I’m glad that there are more outside hires coming. It’s a huge positive. Chris Getz didn’t hire himself. I’d personally prefer to be optimistic about this plan instead of just bitching and moaning over things I can’t control every day. Maybe that’s just me though.
  17. Development models are a big issue though. You can’t be super conservative with your minor league pitchers and then expect them to go 6 innings in the majors. Offense is bad though because pitchers are awesome now. Unless pitchers somehow get worse, hitters will continue to struggle.
  18. He was drafted low because he was hurt and came back as a senior. Was like 23 already on draft day.
  19. He’d be nuts to give a timeline. It just depends. They’ll be awful in 2025. Could they be fun in 2026? It’s possible depending on prospect performances. They could start spending in 2027. Getz would be crazy to lay out a timeline. Theo Epstein never did.
  20. Mully and Haugh did fine. My only issue was not asking about potential changes to international scouting and offensive infrastructure
  21. You’re right. Drew Thorpe sucks. Chris Getz got fleeced. The Sox are fucked and we should all stop paying attention. Hey now I fit right in.
  22. I think the amateur scouting is fine. I’m expecting a new international director this offseason
  23. Fair point. I just think writing off Drew Thorpe is stupid. I need to take a break from this hellscape I think.
