  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) Sharp - Toews - Hossa Dano - Anisimov - Kane Panarin - Tuevo - Morin Shaw - Kruger - ? (Dejardins maybe) I expect Sharp to be moved still
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:53 AM) good fine on the contract signing. however, what ever the GM wants in the day to day lineup, i believe that will be Q decisions. if bowman is saying this, then he is doing damage control It's not damage control. He acquired a 27 year old C that he has always wanted.
  3. Mike Dunleavy back to the Bulls for 3 years and $15 million. I can't tweet from work sorry.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) every one is making assumptions without any guarantees on anything. no one will know what line he would play on, no one will know how he will perform on and in Q's system no one will know if with the way the team comes to ST, no one will see who will be expendable. no one should look beyond next yr to figure the future. jeez. that should be obvious. Bowman mentioned specifically that Toews and Anisimov would be his top centers for years to come. And according to Fox Sports Midwest, Anisimov is about to sign a 5 year extension with the Blackhawks
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:23 AM) can't sleep. it was discussed and the rumors pages stated the price. Bickell - draft pick |s|, Sharp - 1 rounds and a middle round and a prospect sharp = http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2501073...blackhawks-star bickell = http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/2015/06/23...-and-red-wings/ http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2015/6/23/...s-bryan-bickell re good management, that good management idea went sour really quick after the failed trade. no can deny that there was talked and bowman price was too high. either way, if the hawks did not trade Saad, there will be a whole new ideas to make things work. Saad is too good for what they got back. esp in the front end of this trade. who know 4 yrs from now, when Dano develops. the point is, keeping the team ready to make another run at Lord Stanley. re Anisimov define what your opinion is on cap friendly?? re Dano, he may develop as you hope, but everyone knows what to expect from a proven, young talent in Saad. Anisimov is not some bum though. He's probably going to be the 2nd line center. They had no leverage in a Saad trade though, man. They got a really good package considering they would have only received draft picks if they waited any longer. There was no better deal. It was this deal or draft picks.
  6. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 07:36 AM) Why this talk about Fulmer? He hasn't even signed yet. Is this a serious question?
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) and that will be an ideal way to judge bowman ability to manage a team. i am not hating bowman, but i am not praising him either, the off season is a perfect time to discuss this. Questioning Bowman is crazy though. For some reason people still do this. He had to tear apart the team in 2010 because of Dale Tallon. Everyone said they'd never win again. They won the cup in 2013. In 2013, they had a reshuffle as well. People thought it was over again. Then they won the cup in 2015. The man knows what he is doing and Kane and Toews aren't even 28 years old yet. For all the s***ty sports teams in this city, I'm not going to question the GM of the one that isn't.
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) you make a very interesting point. i didn't know it was Pitt and thank for that little tidbit. i really do not agree on the nice package, but hey it is difference of opinions. with the off season still in the beginning, if the hawks matched, then there will be time to address the other situation that was caused by matching the offer or just get the draft picks. Pitt which should be around the #16 pick, and i am basing this on this yrs results. Bowman won 3 SC rings, but he did not assembled the team that was Tallon. Tallon got the first SC ring and it was thru his drafting that made it possible. now like i said last week, this FA situation was going to be tricky, and this will show to me if Bowman is a good GM. so far, it is not looking good. now, Saad is talented, how old was Towes was when he got his big contract, Saad is a special kind of a player. a extremely talented player. he could have easly help this team win more SC's. instead what was the rtn for Saad and a very promising Dman??? this is not even close of an equal rtn. Tevo salary is not up yet, so he is not in this equation. if rumors are to be believed, bowman screwed the pooch on bickell and sharp last week. if one chooses not to believe in the rumors, then how can one believe in a msg from twitter?? again, bowman did some nice move last season for me, which helped in securing the 3rd SC. see, i am giving him credit. Bickell and Sharp are still getting moved though. That has nothing to do with this. They were never going to pay Saad what he is going to end up making.
  9. Here's my take: Brandon Saad is a guy that I didn't want the Hawks to lose and I really didn't think they would. $6.5 million per is too much for the Hawks to pay though. There are rumors on twitter that Pittsburgh is pissed. They were going to come at him hard tomorrow. Bowman and the Hawks obviously knew that he was getting a sheet that they just couldn't match so they cashed in. They got a nice package considering. These were the Blackhawks 3 options in this case: 1. Trade Saad today which they did. 2. Let him leave as a RFA and get a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick in 2016 3. Match his contract and gut the team further (Kruger, Shaw, possibly Seabrook) They didn't think Saad was worth that much and I don't blame them. You can't keep everyone. They have Toews, Kane, Keith, Hossa, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson and Crawford. They will have to pay Teravainen at some point. This was the smart move today. They will still deal Sharp and Bickell and get themselves some flexibility. It's a salary cap league and this is just the way it is. Also, Stan Bowman has won 3 Stanley Cups as GM of the Blackhawks. When does the man get the benefit of the f***ing doubt? I mean seriously? What does he have to do? I trust what they are doing. Questioning Bowman after 3 cup titles really makes people look dumb.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:36 AM) Only other realistic MMLE options are Jameer Nelson and MAYBE Mo Williams. Nate Robinson could likely be had, but he's not as fun or good post surgery. They are supposedly interested in JJ Barea.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) LeBron wants Dunleavy, so I want to keep him even more. He's got the shooting, is passable defensively and has a nasty streak in him. We have to remember Hoiberg is our coach, not Thibs. I think we can reasonably expect Noah, Gasol and MDJ's numbers to all go down and for Niko, Snell and McDermott's to go up. Jimmy and Kirk will likely see some reduced time as well to more sane numbers. Use the MMLE on Stuckey, keep Jimmy and MDJ and roll with this: Rose / Stuckey / Moore Butler / Snell / Hinrich Dunleavy / McDermott Taj / Niko / Portis / Bairstow Gasol / Noah Then you just hope the flashes they showed last year are real and that a new coach and system will have a big effect. They still don't have a backup PG though. Stuckey isn't that guy.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) Hold on. That money can't get allocated to those guys. I'd rather just sign Stuckey with my tax payer exception and then have Dunleavy with bird rights and still have Taj. With Noah's knee, we can't afford to deal Taj, imo. Plus Taj is out with an ankle injury anyway so I don't see it. With MDJ / Snell / McBuckets / Butler (and a Stuckey or someone), I am comfortable with our 2 / 3 (plus Niko I'm sure will still get some time at the 3 as well). Then with Hinrich and Stuckey (or whomever else is signed), I'm more comfortable with our back-up PG situation. Whenever I see a Taj trade rumor, I think, why would we downgrade our front court for such a minimal upgrade in the back court. No they can't use the Dunleavy money. I forgot about that. They can go over the cap to sign he and Jimmy because they are their players. They will have the MMLE which they can use on a backup PG. They still need another wing though. They aren't athletic enough. I would trade Taj for another wing. I used Terrance Ross as a possible example. Gibson is overpaid. He's a backup PF that makes almost $9 million per year. I'd much rather trade Noah, but I don't think anyone wants Noah.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Do we have an idea of the money Butler's offer is actually worth? I haven't been able to find the amount ot even general specifics. Just that it's the first time in nba history someone has gotten a max qualifying offer. I read somewhere it's estimated at 8 million more total if he were to get a max offer next year. Obviously that number would be in the air, but if it's close to that there's no way he's taking the 1 year 4.2 mil qualifier. If he takes the 5 year deal, I think it's 5 years and $90 million.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) what i see in hou is a trade of their surplus players with a possibility of a decent prospect. in other word, sell off those prospect who they identify as extra players in the big picture. i would not want hou to dictate the terms of the trade. Why would the Astros be dictating terms? Shark is the White Sox asset. Sox dictate terms until they either decide to take less for their asset or not trade him at all.
  15. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 06:39 AM) Until the Cubs learn how to beat the Cardinals, they aren't going anywhere. What does this even mean? The Cubs are so young and ahead of schedule. I wouldn't bet that they won't start beating the Cardinals at some point. That time isn't now though. Cubs have the better long-term assets and more $$ to spend. It's not about "learning to beat them". It's just that it'll take time for the Cubs to actually be really good. They have so many young guys that droughts and losing streaks are going to happen. These young guys need like 1,500 plate appearances before I make any judgments about any of them.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:46 AM) The Sox can ignore the potential benefits of an exciting metamorphosis at their own risk. But Hahn's promising offseason has only resulted in a bump of 1,014 fans per game and their average of 21,910 ranks 27th in league attendance — with 49 home games left for the division's last-place team. They'e already lost 50% of their offseason ticket bounce. And selling advertising for radio and t.v. broadcasts from here on out (if they weren't already locked into season long packages) will become a game of rapidly dimishing returns. Other than playing the Cubs and July 17-19th (2005 reunion)...things are going to get uglier without anything beyond cosmetic changes taking place. Exactly. If they truly feel like making some roster tweaks and bringing back Ventura is the best thing then they'll do it. White Sox fans shouldn't even enter the thought process. If they bring back Ventura, the crowds will be the same as this year pretty much. If they keep him and end up being a good team, the crowds will be better. They need to win and win consistently for Sox fans to attend games. We know this already though.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) Production? Not worried about anyone producing anymore this year, Hahn must love getting those high draft picks, I'm talking about his role as the Adam Dunn/Adam LaRoche of this lineup, and while I also think Melky stays he's been pathetic offensively this year and if I'm Jerry (who has no interest in this team), I'm not paying him in a lost season Nobody is taking Melky Cabrera off their hands though. How exactly would Jerry decide to not pay him in a lost season?
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 08:56 AM) #1- Just my humble opinion, I don't think the media has the impact they used to. #2- I don't think Ventura will be replaced during the season. The time to do it was May. Now? Who cares? #3- If they do fire Ventura during the season, it won't be until after Reunion Weekend. July 20 is an off day while they're still home. That would be the day. I agree. I'll be stunned if Ventura gets fired in season. I'm actually still not positive that he'll be fired in the off-season. They like Steverson and Cooper. Are they going to make a new manager inherit those guys? I still think that they just move some players around, keep Ventura, and try to win again in 2016. That doesn't make anyone happy. I still think that's what happens though.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosen...630-column.html Advocates trading Chris Sale, among other ideas...which is basically blowing up the entire roster and starting over. Fact is, nobody’s sure how the Sox front office works after Williams’ comments over the weekend that Hahn isn’t good enough to take Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf’s first phone call. Hahn, though, made the announcements of the new signings and acquisitions last offseason. So, I guess Hahn is in charge of making the roster and Williams is in charge of blowing it up. That’s apparently why Williams accompanied the Sox during consecutive series losses in Minnesota and Detroit. He wanted to evaluate players. He didn’t need to spend the money. The players stink. Trade as many as you can as fast as you can. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...-htmlstory.html 39% blame players, 36% blame Ventura/coaching, 25% the front office Yesterday, Matt Abbatacola said that he knows that the White Sox wouldn't get what Sale is worth in a trade but that they should do it anyway? What?
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 05:44 AM) Am I alone in not really wanting Dunleavy back? Maybe on a one year to work McD into consistent PT but wouldn't be mad if he went elsewhere. You're not alone. I feel like that money can be spent elsewhere. I want to get more athletic and less white but that's just me I guess. Dunleavy is good when his shot is falling but he's bad defensively and he'll take minutes from McDermott. I'd rather split the $$ between Stuckey and Barea and then trade Taj for another wing.
  21. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Jun 30, 2015 -> 02:26 AM) Greg is a troll, right? LOL. Nope I'm afraid not.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) If you're already watching True Detective and Ballers, just stay on HBO and watch the Brink, it's hilarious. And then keep staying on HBO and watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, because it's the best show on television. Tim Robbins is outstanding on The Brink.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) Hilarious that people think a 1-year qualifying offer is even a thing. What do you mean by this?
  25. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 09:39 PM) Might not be as crazy as it sounds. Last 10 games when Milky and Eaton have been hitting well they've started to score more runs. Had they nit coughed up 2 games late they very easily could have won 6 of their last 8. If Avi gets it going again along with those 2 the offense will look even better. Yep. If they score 4 runs a game during that 0-8 stretch, they'd be something like 36-38 and the tone would be much different.
