I don’t have much interest in trading Hendriks for catching help. I hope they get a lot more than Danny Jansen if the Jays are the team.

I never said to give him more time. That was a different poster. You cited a bunch of Bill James nonsense about his outfield play and then used that to prove that he's a bad first baseman. I truly don't understand what's happening right now.

Vaughn will be at 1B, Eloy will likely DH. Oscar Colas will play RF and they'll add another LHH to play LF. Will it be better? I have no idea. The lineup will be more balanced and the defense will be better overall though.

Where is it coming from that Vaughn is a bad first baseman? Also, it's first base. It's not that big of a deal. He has to hit. That's my bigger concern.

I'm not excusing anything. He should be fired. Sox fans think Rick Hahn is the boogeyman though and he just isn't. Jerry Reinsdorf is. This is nuts and so disingenuous. I firmly believe he'll be decent-good defensively at first base because that's his position and that one he was drafted to play. How he does defensively at first base has nothing to do with how he played in the outfield.

This is just not possible, man. So you're playing Vaughn in the outfield again? If you wanted to keep Abreu and trade Vaughn, that's an actual plan. Running it back isn't though.

That's not what I mean. The roster assembled isn't good enough. They need to spend more money. It's the only way out. That is up to ownership though which has been my entire point.

How many innings has he played at first base? There's no question that he's the worst defensive outfielder in the entire sport. How would Jose Abreu have fared in an outfield corner because that's essentially what they asked Andrew Vaughn to do.

I don't know if you know this but Ken Williams is Rick Hahn's boss. And they should both be fired.

What would you have done to bring back Abreu? He's back at 1B on a 3/60 deal. What's the rest of your plan?

I disagree vehemently on the last part. You're kidding yourself if you think Rick Hahn wouldn't have given Manny Machado $300 million to seal the deal. The front office should've been fired. These guys aren't good at operating in the fashion that is required under the ownership of Jerry Reinsdorf. It's really hard though. He runs his team like a small/mid market operation but doesn't get any of the perks that those teams do. They don't invest in infrastructure in the minors, internationally or in regards to player health. All are tenants of Jerry Reinsdorf's other professional organization as well surprisingly. Not spending on huge free agents is fine but signing five bad players instead of 1 good one is absolutely a Kenny Williams ideology for sure. Hahn isn't good enough to work under the Reinsdorfian practices. I'm not sure if anyone really is though in 2022 and he wouldn't hire anyone outside of the organization to try because he'd have to hear outside perspectives confirming his archaic methods. Yeah it sounds great. I'm just not sure what that trade looks like and its sounds like the trade market is basically nonexistent right now
