  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 06:24 PM) <!--quoteo(post=3531633:date=Jul 1, 2017 -> 06:39 PM:name=iamshack)-->QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) <!--quotec-->I'm with you...he sounds like a DH, but Fathom seems to think his bat is so good that he's still worth it. Not only is he a good hitter, but he's just so likely to be traded to an AL team it makes sense to speculate about him as a strong 3rd piece for Q As a 3rd piece I'd love him, but I find it hard to believe Q lands three top 100 guys unless the headliner isn't great.
  2. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) UZR + DRS both had Anderson as a very good defender last year and I think it's safe to say he passed the eye test as well. This year he's taken a step back. Development isn't always linear. Can we pin this post? So sick of the non-stop Anderson b****ing. Give the kid some time for f***'s sake.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) Jason definitely does. Fathom would be furious if we did not get Calhoun! The problem with Calhoun is where do you play him. Can he stick at 2B and not kill you there? For a team that plays half its games in a park that greatly benefits from keeping the ball on the ground, I'm not sure how I feel about relying on Willie up the middle. And this all assumes the Sox would be willing to move Moncada, which I'm personally more than ok with but the front hasn't hinted at much interest in at all. On the other hand, if he's only a DH/1B that greatly reduces the value he provides obviously. Just don't think he's a great fit for us as much as I find him as interesting prospect.
  4. Who is calling Adolfo a sure thing? He's a physically gifted young prospect finally putting those tools to work for the first time in his career. Yes, we all know the K rate is a huge concern, but that doesn't mean he's not a legit prospect. And the four years thing is absolute nonsense. He missed almost all of 2015 and about half of 2016. This is essentially his first full season of professional baseball. All things cosidered, this season has been a huge success so far.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=m...itting/2017/ALL Where do you get that idea about Adolfo's numbers...trending up for the past month. Also has five walks in his last ten games. Tilson, if 100% healthy, is Pods lite at a time and place when the homer reigns supreme again. If healthy. Yeah, that Adolfo comment was an epic fail.
  6. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 1, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) It's stupid to bring LaRoche's religion into this every single time he's mentioned, especially when it has nothing to do with his dumbassery, and also especially in light of SoxTalk's rather dim view on personal attacks of this nature. My own religious viewpoints are irrelevant. Dude, Adam LaRoche was the one who brought his religion into this. Did you even read what he said? I literally have no idea why you caught feelings over Jenksy Cat's post.
  7. Let's get this thread back on track. Who thinks the Dodgers could be the sleeper team in the Quintana sweepstakes? Rumors are they are interested in a cost controlled TOR starter and Q could also provide a huge impact in this year's playoffs as well. The Dodgers also have the pieces to get a deal done. Any deal IMO would have to be built around Verdugo & Buehler IMO. Get me those two guys & two of their recent high profile LatAm signings and that's a deal that could make sense for both sides.
  8. I doubt anyone has a better top 5 than Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, Hansen, & Dunning. I guess the Braves may have more depth, but a 6 to 10 (in no particular order) of Fulmer, Adams, Guerrero, Stephens, & Flores is pretty hard to beat. It's got to be pretty close overall.
  9. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 10:43 PM) Nope. Catholic who hasn't attended mass in over a year. Nice try, though. Why did you catch feelings about this then?
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 10:31 PM) I can totally respect that LaRoche may have gotten a prescription drug addiction partly from baseball. Everything else about him is super weird, but I think the drug thing with pro athletes is super valid, if you lose any edge, there goes your massive payday. No offense, but Adderall can be abused by pretty much anyone looking for a little bit of edge in the focus department. I'm 33 and college kids were using that s*** religiously to get by back in the day. I don't think being a baseball player really has anything to do with it.
  11. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 10:15 PM) Oh cool, another SoxTalk Laroche thread where it's totally rad to make fun of a dude's religiosity. That's swell. FWIW, I think Laroche sucks. He played terribly for us, and then quit because he thought being a baseball player exempted him from a pretty ordinary workplace expectation. But being a super evangelical has dick-all to do with it. Let me guess, you're a super evangelical.
  12. Moncada 1/3 & BB. Delmoncio 2/4 so far. Fisher with his first HR at Winston Salem. Micker 2/4 so far tonight. Adams with 5 K's through 4, but gave up a 2R HR.
  13. Frazier is now officially a league average hitter despite a ridiculously low .218 BABIP. He'll finish the season with 3+ WAR and I think he'll return something of value 30 days from now.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 06:48 PM) If it's any consolation, I've heard LaRoche, who lives in Ks., is doing great work with veterans. he has a big fundraiser for them and routinely hosts events on his property raising money for veterans and funding hunting trips for them, etc. I don't think LaRoche is an evil person by a long shot. Who cares if he wanted his kid to hang out in the clubhouse? I don't automatically take the team's side on issues like that. The kid is probably being raised to be a good kid. This is from a guy who despised LaRoche's hitting as a member of the Sox. Hopefully it's as great as the work he did with those underage prostitutes in Thailand.
  15. How about not gambling on signing a bunch of stars when it's never worked before (despite already having at least one star in place) and instead trying to draft and develop our own stars no matter how painful that may be. We didn't trade Butler to immediately sign a lesser version of him and go right back to NBA hell, or at least I hope not.
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) I don't understand the posters that would rather be right than have a White Sox player do well. It seems like you'd be happy if Kahnle reverted back to his previous form. But dat beef sandwich!
  17. Chicago is the greatest city in the world and anyone that would consider leaving is a dirty rotten traitor.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) Alex Call is playing. No Burger or Sheets. That's awesome about Call. Really need to get him back in Winston Salem.
  19. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) What's wrong with Candelario? I don't think he sticks at 3B and don't he has nearly enough upside to be the second piece in a Quintana deal.
  20. I love me some Eloy Jimenez, but I really don't like really like the Cubs' secondary pieces. Don't get me wrong, a Jimenez plus Schwarber or Happ deal would work for me obviously, but the Cubs aren't doing anything like that, at least not for Quintana.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) I agree...I don't think it does us any good to be packaging some of our better assets such as Q and Robertson or Kahnle unless it gets us the PARTICULAR guy(s) that you really want. Otherwise, there is enough demand out there to trade them separately and get additional depth. That being the case, if the Sox really loved Rutherford or Frazier, for instance, much more so than Tucker or hypothetically Jimenez, maybe it would be worth burning one of those chips to get the guy they really wanted as opposed to just some other top 50 prospect. 100% agree. I think more often than not, you're better off selling your key assets separately. Now if there is a guy who your scouts are convinced is a sure fire superstar then I get it and it's possible soemone offers something just so overwhelming you have to take it. But typically teams only want to trade so many prospects (or only have so many) at one time that you're better off doing deals with multiple clubs.
  22. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) Honestly I think Q is worth one of these packages Frazier + Sheffield + Andujar or Rutherford + Sheffield + Adams + Andujar Last off season i had him and Eaton pegged at near identical value but having said that the trade deadline brings about another level to the mix so we will see. Hahn will get what he demands or he keeps Q, I'm not worried. Additionally I think the sox are better served just paying down Robertson's contract to get the best value, his contract isn't some albatross; its actually below the going rate, just look at Melancon. The difference in value between Frazier & Rutherford is not Adams. Honestly, I bet most scouts are split on who the better prospect is. I do think that first package is fairly reasonable though. Maybe throw in Todd if Andujad is too good of a 3rd piece, but I think the basic framework is there.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:30 AM) Excellent article and those are good possibilities. It's really a shame that they lost 2 of their top prospects to injury; unfortunate for those guys, and makes it tougher to trade the prospects they have left. It's not like they died. Torres in particular should be fine.
