  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) 60 pitches already. Get into that pen and blow it up too. Always nice to get into the pen early in the first game of a series.
  2. f***ing Laser by Abreu right! Would love to see Frazier gap one right here.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) It's been some wait. Clearly you didn't follow the 2015 Sox much ?
  4. Finally some luck goes our way. Time to make them Adam!
  5. I really, really like having Eaton in RF. Each flyball out that way should no longer be an adventure.
  6. 1-2-3 inning. Nice work Chris. Now let's get some f***ing runs.
  7. No f***ing walks Chris.
  8. Ball four base hit!!
  9. First base running f***up of the season by the first base runner of the season!!
  10. Guys, sin city sox has been trolling for years. Don't you remember his "extend Beckham" posts from early last season?
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Avila 8th would break up the righties at the end and Jackson 9th breaks up the lefties (Avila, Eaton, Rollins. Yes yes I know that Rollins is a switch hitter). Yeah, I don't like having three lefties in a row, plus Jackson batting 9th puts a bit more speed in front of Eaton potentially. I don't envision the bottom of our lineup looking like this for very long.
  12. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) Man sox got screwed in april. One day off and royals get 5 days off. Sox are going to need to come out strong in april. There will be rainouts in April, I'd rather have less days off and let the team develop some momentum. We all saw how well the team played last year after the extended break due to the Baltimore riots. Save the days off for later in the season when we'll actually need them.
  13. I'm expecting some big things tonight on Walking Dead. To make Negan's unvealing a big deal, they really need to have at least one major death. You got to think one of the four characters captured by Dwight bites it tonight.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 12:16 AM) He does walk a ton, but, 2011 aside, he has less power than Flowers or Soto and strikes out more. Avila's worst season against RHP was last year when he put up a wRC+ of 94 and the rest have been well above 100. Flowers best season as a starter was a wRC+ of 95. There is no doubt in my mind that Avila/Navarro platoon is a significant upgrade over Flowers and largely due to Avila's ability against RHP.
  15. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) That scene with Alfred Molina and "Sister Christian" and "Jessie's Girl" is incredible. One of my all-time favorite movie scenes.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) Need someone on the bench who can catch the ball in the outfield. Thus Shuck Shuck didn't seem like that good of a defensive outfielder to me. Other than solid contact/on-base skills, I don't understand the love he gets around here. Would much rather have Murphy as our left-handed bench bat than Shuck.
  17. I'm actually happy they made this move. I want nothing to do with Ishikawa. Don't care if he's left-handed when he can't hit RHP at a league average level. Sands at least provides one above average skill in that he can hit LHP. He also put up pretty even splits during a strong stint in Columbus last year (SSS I know), suggesting there's at least some potential there. I'd obviously much rather have a legit left-handed bat on the bench (sorry J.B. Shuck), but until we can find said player, I'd rather go with the younger guy with some upside than the older has been.
  18. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) 5th starter type I'm ok with this move. Don't have to give anything but money. Need insurance for Latos. How do you fit him on the roster if you keep Latos?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) FutureSox.com ‏@FutureSox 10m10 minutes ago Two names still in camp that are just as interesting as who was cut: Jacob May and Phillippe Aumont. They'd be crazy to start the season with May on the 25 man roster. He's another guy who needs to play everyday in AAA to see what you have. While I remain skeptical he's an everyday player at the major league level, we're going to need at least one OF in the near future (when/if Jackson departs) and he's probably next in line for an opportunity. Let's hope he's closer to the player he was last year prior to the concussion than he was after. Also, is this the deepest the Sox have been on the position player front in years? Just off the top of my head we'll have May, Anderson, Sanchez, Davidson, & Coats waiting in the wings in AAA. Those guys can basically fill a hole anywhere in the lineup but catcher. That's a pretty exciting chance of pace compared to how things have been in recent years.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) So the Sox should just ignore the 1141 plate appearances Davidson has made in AAA the past 2 years where he barely hit .200 and struck out more often than Adam Dunn, and base a roster spot on the 44 plate appearances he made this spring in games that don't count. No one really can be serious, right? Send him to Charlotte. If he's worth a roster spot, he will show he's worth a roster spot. Thank you, I'm literally shocked by the amount of support he's getting around here. And top of everything, he just takes away at-bats from a guy who has already shown he can hit LHP at the major league level in Avi. Davidson needs to start the season in AAA playing everyday so we can see if his spring performance is sustainable (at least the K rate) or if this is simply a mirage driven by a SSS in the desert.
  21. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 10:24 AM) You're absolutely right. But unless the Sox make a trade or sign a Venable or Murphy, it's what they have. If LaRoche hadn't quit, he'd be your opening day DH and batting 6th. Would that be any better based on last year's performance? As bad as LaRoche was last year, he was basically as good Ishikawa has been in his career against RHP. Even with just a moderate rebound, he'd have been the far better option this year. I hate saying this, but losing LaRochs actually hurts us if we don't go out and sign or trade for a left-handed bat to figure into the DH mix.
  22. QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Im good with that lineup, though I think you swap Avila and Jackson for 2 reasons: 1.) Break up the group of righties 2.) Get more speed in front of Abreu and Frazier when the roster turns over 100% agree with this.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 08:10 PM) I agree. I'd like to see Davidson up DHing and see how he does since we know what Ishikawa is. Davidson has some confidence back and I'd like to keep it that way. Dude, if Davidson is the headcase you make him out to be, then he's all but doomed when he finally gets an opportunity at the major league level and struggles. The guy has to put together a successful couple months in the International League before I consider for an everyday role with the Sox. Furthermore, we already have a guy in Avi Garcia who has shown some ability to hit major league pitching. No doubt we should add a left-handed bat to at least split playing time with him if not serve as his platoon partner. But if we can't land said player before opening day, then I'm going with the guy at DH who has put up 90+ wRC+ at the major league level vs. the guy coming off two seasons with 30% K rates in AAA. This overreacting to spring numbers has gotten out of control.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) Let's go over the final spot with Saldino, Shuck, and backup C being 3 of the bench spots. Sanchez- Great defense, average offense Sands- Worse than Avi in the OF, pretty good stick Ishikawa- LH bat, plays 1B, has had a good spring Davidson- Mashing this spring, but can it continue? Pretty good defense at 3B, can he play 1B? While I haven't seen Sands play this spring, I find it hard to believe he's a worse defender than Avi.
  25. I'm not a huge fan of West coast games, but will take the ability to watch an opening day game live on TV than being forced to watch delayed on DVR or follow on GameCast. Also, we don't have a day off following opening day this year, which is also a huge plus. Nothing worse than waiting months for your first real taste of baseball only to have to wait two more days for your second serving.
