  1. What in the world are you talking about? Race has had nothing to do with these hires. This is once again Jerry going what he is comfortable with. Right now, that happens to be a white former MLB player. For the last 20 years it was a black former player. He’s had women in important roles and has a history of black and Hispanic managers. Calling out Jerry for being racist is literally the only card you can’t play against him.
  2. I’m dangerously close to sitting out White Sox baseball until Jerry dies. Starting to question what is the point in supporting a franchise that is held hostage by an incredibly stubborn, out-of-touch owner. Jerry has always wanted to win “his way”, but you’d think he’d finally wake the f*** up given a possible sale / exit might be coming. But nope, still going to promote an insular, unqualified employee to be his head baseball decision maker without even attempting a legit interview process, despite it potentially costing him hundreds of millions of dollars down the road. Unfortunately, our only hope at this moment is Father Time and that’s a terrible predicament to be in as a fan.
  3. What title are they going to give Chris? GM or President / EVP of Baseball Ops? Also, I guarantee that Haber remains assistant GM once this is announced.
  4. Jerry is such a fucking clown
  5. Kenny trading for the wrong player (Berry/Barry) Guillen family drama his final years as manager Omar Visquel being a complete POS as AA manager Clubhouse napper mystery / allegations
  6. Insular org gets more insular…everything should work out fine
  7. Why in the world would you want continuity of ownership? And Michael Reinsdorf is a complete boob…let him f*** around with the Bulls and stay clear of our Sox.
  8. Wow…hopefully one day we find out the entire truth. Definitely still some pieces that don’t add up.
  9. Click would be ideal. But if not him, I’d say bring in Brian Sabean as President of Baseball Ops and and then Jeff Kingston to be GM.
  10. Have you heard any other names that could be in the running?
  11. I don’t get how the logistics would work with Soldier Field. I suffer through it for a Bears game or concert once a year, but I definitely wouldn’t make that trek 10 to 20 times a year. Arlington Heights would work great for the Bears, but probably not ideal for our fanbase. West Loop would probably make the most sense of those three options.
  12. Again, they had no idea the source of the bullet. They didn’t know if the shooting was intentional or not. Sure, they may have assumed it was a random stray from outside the park, but they did not know that for sure as of 1am this morning. Meanwhile, people continued to sit in that area. Had more bullets come in 5 minutes later, 15 minutes later, etc. would you still feel it was the most tactical response possible? Thank god it appears to be random, but why even take a chance?
  13. I don’t disagree on the dangers of a crowd rush. I’m just saying doing nothing doesn’t seem like a good response either. There should be some tactical way to de-risk the situation without inducing mass panic.
  14. I’m not sure I’m following your point here? Three people were hurt in a crowd rush? If there was an actual active shooter, that would be a small price to pay for saving many innocent lives. And I’m not suggesting they should have sounded a panic alarm and told everyone to rush for the exits. But I certainly wouldn’t have left people 20 people away from a shooting for the remainder of the game with no explanation of how it actually happened. Also, do you think if that random stray strikes the woman’s head and not her leg, the game would have gone on? There were literally kids hopping up the stairs seconds before the bullet struck. If it hits one of them do they stop the game and take it more seriously? In your mind, what would it have taken to trigger some actual action?
  15. They didn’t know the cause of the shooting, which is the entire point I’m making here. They may have guessed it was a random stray, but as indicated in their release this morning they’re still not quite sure what happened. How did they know more bullets wouldn’t come flying in? They didn’t know where the shots came from, so they didn’t know the motive of the shooter and whether it was intentional. Why in the world you take any chance and leave fans there? Yes, I’ll take my sons to future Sox games (if they are ever good again…lol), but last night I would have no doubt left immediately if there was any chance some fucks were purposely shooting into the park. And guess what, the Sox didn’t give me a choice because they didn’t inform anyone of the shooting until well after the concert was cancelled. They made the call there was no immediate threat despite having no fucking idea what had actually happened. And that there is the entire problem with how they handled things last night.
  16. The goal is to avoid “more causalities” and yet they let people continue to sit within 20 feet of where three people were struck by bullets. How did they know more bullets wouldn’t come raining down on fans? Like I don’t even get the argument here. Doing nothing is 100% unacceptable.
  17. I think we need to see if there will be an actual process or if Jerry basically has his mind made up already like Nightengale is suggesting. I’m pretty pessimistic on the former, although it’s possible he has few guys in mind for the role and there will be actual interviews amongst those select few. I don’t see him taking his time and interviewing a bunch of up-and-coming executives from other organizations though. Just doesn’t feel like his style.
  18. Biggest White Sox mystery since the clubhouse napper case. But yeah, it seems pretty far-fetched physics wise (if it did indeed strike three people) but more likely than a shot going off during the game and no one actually reacting.
  19. But that’s the thing…they don’t know or at least didn’t know where the shot came from at that time. But you really think if there is someone firing bullets into the park from the outside, the best course of action is to not stop the game, keep the fans and players where they are, and assume more shots won’t be coming in? There is no way for them to know for sure there wasn’t an active threat at the time and they did absolutely nothing to protect the fans or players. I get masking the cancellation of the concert with a made-up “technical” issue to prevent mass chaos, but I don’t find it particularly cool that a bullet flew into the LF bleachers two innings before I was walking my nine & six year old boys around the LF concourse. That’s fucking bullshit and honestly I find it way worse than if someone had snuck a gun in and security had actually apprehended a suspect.
