Definitely seems to be the plan. In all honesty, I don’t see how we can possibly build a semi-competent pitching for next year without major spending in free agency. I fill like we are going to see a lot of scrap-heap trades this off-season for guys who can eat innings and bridge to Nastrini, Mena, etc. Who is the modern day Ivan Nova? I fully expect two guys like that and/or C tier free agents in the mold of Severino/Montas to complete this staff.

I’m inferring from Jerry’s comments. Said we he had a great core in place and followed that by saying Moncada was finally returning to form. It’s very clear to me they think can win with this positional group with minimal changes outside of adding a catcher and some role players. I also don’t see Getz being creative enough to swing a big Yoan trade or Jerry being willing to eat his salary.

I’m pretty sure it was reported elsewhere that the MLB gave the Sox a waiver from having to do this as result of previous diversity hiring efforts.

Zero chance that is the infield next year. No one is giving Moustakas or Andrus a starting job. Plus it sounds like Moncada is staying put. I think the only wild card is whether Tim sticks around. If he goes, then I could see someone like Whit brought in for 2B and Sosa sliding over to 2B. Otherwise, the resources are going towards pitching and catching IMO.

Good point…that would take away a bit of the sting, although it won’t matter if this coaching staff can’t get Dylan to figure his s%*# out.

I take it you didn’t listen to the press conference, because I’d expect almost none of this to happen. Grifol has already been confirmed back. Jerry mentioned that winning next year was possible because of a weak division and our “strong core” and specifically highlighted Moncada looking better. They are legit blaming this turd of a season on KW/Rick and poor clubhouse culture that was addressed by the moves made at the deadline. Sounds like they feel they have a few holes in the major league roster and need a bit more depth, but can fix this thing relatively easily. Just don’t point out that we have no pitching and a lineup full of guys who aren’t that good and/or don’t really care.

Given the facade we can win next year, I just realized that Dylan Cease is all but certain to be here for the next two years and then leave for nothing. Amazing how fucked we are with Jerry and this hire.

Let’s be honest. Chris clearly has no ideas other than “Dayton Moore won a World Series and is willing to mentor me”. It’s going to be amazing when that is finally announced alongside keeping Grifol & Haber. Hard to believe that much “thought leadership” in one org was even possible.

I am at a loss of words. I literally came in with the lowest of expectations and was still somehow disappointed. I still can’t get over that half his answers were “I’m going to sit down with Pedro”. Like holy f***, Pedro should be banned from MLB for gross misconduct as manager. And yet this is Getz’s go to guy. @fathom - It’s so clear the plan for next year is trade for Salvy, sign two C tier SPs, and hope that “improved culture” will somehow rejuvenate all the broken and flawed players on this roster. “Let’s call out the elephant in the room, we play in the AL Central”. Just throw some s%*# against the wall and hope it sticks long enough to sneak into the playoffs. I don’t even know how to cheer for this franchise, when I actually want Jerry to never see a winning product again in his lifetime. He simply doesn’t deserve to witness another playoff game, which means waiting 10 years or so for his reign of terror to end. Sucks my oldest will be in college and won’t give a f*** about the Sox by then, but that’s the unfortunate reality with the near immortal Jerry Reinsdorf at helm.

But also offered up his incredible baseball knowledge & strategic thinking to both Getz & Grifol.

That would require having an actual plan unfortunately. Hopefully Chris will come up with one and Jerry will fund it. Until then, sounds like there will be a lot of deep conversations with Pedro “the man with the plan” Grifol.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say this, but that is the worst press conference I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Pedro at least said all the right things when he was introduced, even if it was a bunch of false promises. Chris had no specifics on how he will improve the org. His entire plan is “sitting down with Pedro” and that will somehow magically fix everything. It is so fucking clear that this f*** whispered a bunch of sweet nothings into Jerry’s ears and was able to convince to hand the ship over to him without a legitimate plan on how to fix s%*#. Also, I can’t believe we are stuck with Pedro for another year and it’s painfully obvious that Haber will be an integral member of the front office. Throw in the fact that they plan to compete somehow next year by doing “things” and I have never been less confident in this org in my entire life. Chris Getz is basically a poor man’s Rick Hahn but without the ability to lawyer speak. What a complete fucking disaster. At least a few media members took some shots.

These comments keep getting worse and show just how fucking lost Jerry’s mind is at this point in time. May god have mercy on our souls for following this s%*#-show of a franchise.

Can’t wait until we hear that Haber will be retained as Assistant GM. Then we’ll know for sure that Getz is simply more of the same.

Getz had incredibly limited experience with the Royals when they brought him in to lead our player development function.

Cheap, inexperienced, and insular were apparently the three key criteria for “single Baseball Ops decision maker”. But seriously, how many teams don’t have a President or EVP leaders their Baseball Ops above a GM? For a team in desperate need of a strong voice & vision at the top, this truly seems like an odd time to against trend.

So what time are we thinking this gets announced? Want to make sure I’m there when Grifol (or whoever the f*** does it) announces the hire.
