Bryan Reynolds’s requests trade
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jose was better last year, but gun to head I’m taking Giolito over him for next year. -
You’d have to sign a free agent like Quintana or Manaea, but I think that would be a likely downgrade.

That’s the million dollar question no one who wants to trade Lucas can answer. And in a rotation with three dudes already with health concerns, it’s very hard to move one of the two dependable guys who can soak up innings.

I really don’t care what FG lists him at currently, he’s 100% a 55 FV prospect by my self evaluation. -

I word for word said “blue chip prospects”, which I view as guys with a 55 FV grade or above. On average, there are 40 to 50 of these guys in a given year. There were three of those traded at the deadline. Two went for a sure-fire future Hall of Famer and the other went to a team with a 20 year post-season draught in a trade that was generally viewed as an abnormally high price. Why don’t you tell me how many of those 2021 top 100 prospects were traded when they were top 40 to 50 prospects? -

The Giolito ranking is very misleading as he was losing some helium by the time we acquired him. -

The game has radically changed since then and blue chip prospects are more valuable than ever. The Adam Eaton deal is a poor comp for a Reynolds trade. Regardless, two top 75 prospects is not worth the same as Montgomery & Vaughn. Teams aren’t stupid. Andrew was a top 20 prospect who was rushed like crazy and played out of position by a desperately dumb organization. This same kid had a 125 wRC+ through August of last year despite the worst hitting coach in baseball playing up his worst tendencies and before his legs wore out from playing the OF. Every intelligent organization would die to acquire him and watch him develop into a 140 wRC+ hitter. He’s worth considerably more than you think he is despite only four years of control. And conveniently you use the MLB.com rankings for Montgomery and not Baseball America’s, who have him as the #35 overall prospect. The difference between the #35 prospect and a guy in the 60’s or 70’s is massive. And guys like Montgomery, especially of the positional variety, don’t get moved very often in this day and age. He is the type of centerpiece prospect that would get the Pirates’ attention and one very clubs would be willing to match. Honestly, I’m doubtful the Sox would even consider moving him. I truly believe something like Montgomery, Ramos, & Vera would be incredibly tempting to the Pirates and I’m not sure many teams would actually want to pay a steeper price than that. -

Who is offering more than that? -

Those ZiPS projections are insanely conservative for our younger position players though. I think with even just reasonable additions it’s unlikely we finish below .500 next year. -
Mike Clevinger to Sox per Rosenthal

So I listened to this and Murray said it would include a mutual option, which is basically is just an easy way to defer some money to the following season. -
Not Sox related, but hearing the Cubs aren’t big on Senga and are pushing hard for Taillon. Wouldn’t be surprised if that happened at the Winter Meetings.

Lower minors are going to be loaded with fun SP prospects. Theoretically it could shake out something like this: Vera | Pallette Mena | Schutlz Simas | McDougal Kelley | Schweitzer Cannon | Nolasco

Good article from Fegan on Tosar, who will definitely will be involved with the hitting but will be more of a jacks of all trade type of guy. Sounds like his focus will be ensuring the guys are prepared to play on a daily basis. I know many of us have accused our players are not being ready and not doing their homework and it sounds like that will change under this coaching staff. Very excited to see what Grifol and staff can do next year.

He was the guy in the dugout supposed to be coordinating with the actual analytics function on how to use them for in-game decision-making. He was not the guy crunching the numbers or saying how we should use them for roster decisions is my point.

Fully agree. This DeGrom deal has a chance to be epically bad, just jealous the Rangers ownership group is willing to spend some big dollars.
-
Here is me saying we should sign him to a 5/$138M contract, which is what MLBTR was projecting for him at the time. He literally got 80% of that. No idea how others felt, but I was pretty pissed we missed out and this isn’t a case of revisionist thinking.
