  1. Glad to see Rick thinks Trayce Thompson will save the day. What a fucking clown show this organization is.
  2. Jerry would rather have one Leury Garcia than 40 front office employees. It’s why we’ll be in baseball hell until Jerry finally exits this organization.8
  3. He talks a big game? He said all the right things in his opening press conference and then failed to deliver on any of them. The “we will control the strike zone on both sides of the ball” will go down in history as the biggest over-promise / under-deliver s statement ever. Dude has no back-bone whatsoever.
  4. He’s drafted two top 40 prospects while selecting in the teens or later. That’s super impressive. Need to separate the talent identification from the player development. Not Shirley’s fault that Getz & KW Jr run that show.
  5. Rick being phased the f*** out! You gotta love seeing it!
  6. Here are Rick’s “core” players for 2024 with their current fWAR: Lineup: Robert, CF = 4.1 Benintendi = 0.8 Jimenez = 0.7 Vaughn = 0.1 Moncada = (0.1) Anderson = (0.5) Colas = (0.6) Rotation: Cease = 2.4 Kopech = (1.6) Bullpen: Santos = 1.3 Bummer = 1.1 Crochet = (0.1) That’s a total of 7.4 fWAR from our “core” this year. Strip out Robert & Cease and it’s only 0.9 fWAR. Good luck to this one into a division next year Rick!
  7. Add another impact reliever to the list of things Hahn has to address to make this team competitive.
  8. Hahn effectively added the following: One high-end catching prospect One post-hype catching prospect Three quality SP prospects in AA A semi-interesting relief prospect A lottery ticket arm in the lower minors a 32 year old, RH 4th outfielder Hahn gave up the following pieces to do so: The best rental SP on the market An expensive SP with bad 2023 results Two relatively cheap rental relievers One overpaid reliever with a club option One overpaid reliever with a 2024 salary A controllable 1B/DH with huge power Overall, I’d grade the summation of these trades an A-. I hate Rick Hahn with all my heart, but he did very well in trading these pitchers, addressing org needs without sacrificing overall talent. I downgrade the overall grade slightly due to the uncertainty of the Burger deal. Eder sounds pretty legit if healthy, but the scouting reports on him since returning from TJS are very mixed. If the stuff is there, then this is a very nice return. But if the hope is “Coop will fix ‘em” I’m not sure I feel quite as good about that gamble. That being said, I give his broader deadline a hard C. Hahn has improved the outlook for 2025 forward, but under no circumstance are we better for 2024 despite Hahn trying to spin it that way. And that lack of clear direction is very problematic, especially when we were in the midst of a strong seller’s market. Now, it’s very possible the returns weren’t there for Cease, Tim, or Bummer to pull the trigger and if that’s the case you hold until the off-season. But saying there is a path to contention next year when you have a garbage core and close to a dozen holes is highly concerning. Burning through Cease’s value in some Hail Mary attempt at winning in 2024 would bring my grade down to an F-.
  9. Our offense is an abomination…that’s why we aren’t competitive this year.
  10. Zero chance that will the the rotation. They will almost certainly sign two starters.
  11. I love that the media is calling Rick out for his bullshit. What an arrogant piece of s%*# to think Sox fans would believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
  12. Choose your fighter! Player A: 120 wRC+ | 57th % xwOBA | 92nd % max EV | 31st % speed Player B: 115 wRC+ | 84th % xwOBA | 100th % max EV | 71st % speed Player C: 105 wRC+ | 59th % xwOBA | 76h % max EV | 10th % speed
  13. Do other teams has much pool left as us?
  14. The entire “core” is playing today but Cease & Eloy and we look like a fucking joke. Burn this s%*# to the ground and start fresh with players who aren’t broken and actually want to win.
  15. lol…I think Moncada got visited by long COVID and back problems, no clue what happened to Kopech though.
  16. The Sox better demote Kopech after this game. And I don’t want to hear the “there is nothing for him to learn in AAA”. The kid is worthless right now and needs to figure his s%*# out in a stress free environment. I get we desperately need innings right now, but I’d rather some scrap heap dude take a beating every five days than do absolutely nothing and expect a different result with Kopech.
  17. Yup, just a horrible signing. I get he’s not a horrible player (yet) but never commit big dollars to very average players. Still pains me that the Cubs got Bellinger for a one year commitment where we felt compelled to go with the low upside, safe player for five.
  18. What do you think has caused the stuff to regress?
  19. Bigger disappointment this year? Kopech or Vaughn?
  20. We should scoop up both Severino & Montas no matter what else we do at this deadline. Perfect guys to target for a team that needs a miracle to win next year.
  21. It’s not getting any easier with Cohen opening a hole in the Mets rotation and having endless amounts of money to spend.
  22. They need to take their time with him simply from an innings standpoint. And these were just intended my guesses of where these guys start. For example, I don’t envision Mena spending too much time in AA next year, but it’s probably where I’d start him. I’d expect Schultz to end the 2024 season in AA, but no reason to rush him there too soon. He’s probably the only arm in the system with a true #1 ceiling so we should take our time with him.
  23. I’m 100% open to the idea if Crochet is willing to spend a year in AAA. And honestly, it’s further reason to punt the 2024 season. With the recent trades and this past draft class, we could actually fill out our minor rotations with legit prospects. Let those guys have a year to develop without risk of rushing them to the majors in some Hail Mary attempt to win a garbage division. AAA: Crochet* Nastrini Bush* Burke Thompson AA: Mena Cannon Pallette Kelley Simas High A: Schultz* Taylor McDougal Schweitzer* Adams/Murphy/Vera Low A: Keener Gordan* LaCombe Oppor* Arias*
