Rumor: Sox Pursuing Jose Quintana
Them extending him is entirely a different action from them acquiring for Shields in the first place. Whether the extension, Preller destroyed Hahn in that trade.

7/27 Sox @ Rockies 2:10 CST
No Sheets in either game is exactly what we asked for! Is Tony finally learning that he shouldn’t automatically play a bad LH hitter out of position simply because a RH pitcher is on the mound?

It’s really bad unfortunately and reflective of poor roster design.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
That’s fair, but they were prepared to enter the season with Keuchel with only VV as insurance. Regardless, I’m not optimistic they would DFA Leury this early.

That would require Hahn admitting he made a big mistake and he’s traditionally be stubborn in that regard. It took Keuchel multiple months of being completely useless plus being a clubhouse cancer to get let go. Legend is adored in the clubhouse, at least by Tony and that probably matters more than anything.

If you’re wondering why the Yankees would consider a Gallo for Pollock move, this is a general reflection of how all of New York feels about him: Pollock’s player option remains a legit obstacle to such a trade, but it’s still an interesting idea that would theoretically make sense for both clubs otherwise.

Who warned Hahn not trade him?

Trade Rumors Catch-all
I don’t think you can option Leury at this point in his career. If true, he basically handcuffs the roster and makes it challenging to address both RF & 2B because we already have eleven other guys who have secured spots (Pito, Big Energy, Anderson, Yoan, Eloy, Vaughn, Robert, Pollock, Engel, Grandal, backup catcher). You’re basically forced to go with a five man bench or remove one of the other guys from the roster. Honestly, I think we only see one LH bat added and they go with what we have at the other spot.

He gives us an extra starter for the stretch run and then a left-handed relief arm come October. I’m good with it if the price is reasonable and it doesn’t prevent us from addressing the positional group.

Robert Murray also indicating we have interest in Quintana.

It’s so great seeing him return to form now healthy. Would be nice to get 2021 2H Grandal back ?

Don’t tell Rick Hahn that because he just pulled it off!

Most frustrating offense I can remember as a Sox fan. We literally have one guy on pace for 20 HRs and he’s currently on the IL with an undiagnosed issue. For reference, the 2018 White Sox who bottomed out at 62 wins in the middle of our rebuild had four guys with 20+ and another two with 17+. And it’s not like we have a bunch of guys who can’t hit HRs. This is straight up shitty approach from a hitting coach who honestly believes in a “fuck the HR” mantra.

Dusty Baker would hate Grandal clogging the bases like this.

So 10 groundballs and two DPs so far. But hey, we’ve got one hit and two reached on errors to show for them! Frank has gameplanned the perfect approach for Coors!

How many groundballs do we have tonight? For the love of god fire Frank!?!

I remember when people ripped the Sox offense led by Thomas, Konerko, Ordonez, & Lee for being station to station. Meanwhile, now we have a bunch of slow guys hitting groundballs without the insane amount of homers. Got to love a Frank Menechino offense!

He had a 93rd percentile xwOBA, 97th percentile K rate, 96th percentile fastball velocity, & 98th percentile fastball spin rate in his first season back after missing multiple years of development due to TJs & COVID. Dude looked like a bonafide stud…ERA be damned. For comparison, Cease had a 3.91 ERA last year and is suddenly one of the best pitchers in baseball. I’m confident Kopech is going to make a similar leap next year even if this year is somewhat disappointing.

He looked untouchable last year though…I’d be real hesitant to move him when we all knew this was going to be a development year for him.
