And had anyone signed an extension the size of Eloy’s before playing a single game in the majors? JR basically broke new ground with that deal.

I’m fully expecting them to lock him up to a five year extension this winter for something around 5/$100M. Buys out one free agent year and allows Yoan to hit free agency as a 29 year old. That’s a win for both sides IMO.

Here’s my thought on Adam Jones. Our AAAA OF guys all suck and I don’t want to rely entirely on Leury if a corner guy gets hurt. Jones is cheap depth and a great clubhouse presence. I don’t like giving up arguably two of our best prospects after the elite guys when we have tons of financial flexibility, but Nimmo fills so many needs (RF, left-handed, OBP) and is under control for three years that he’s worth giving up some talent and spending elsewhere.

I had Madrigal in the leadoff spot originally, but switched to him last second to ninth. Really a toss up for me.

You are way off here man. Yoan isn’t even arbitration eligible until 2021. Alex Bregman who was in the same situation last offseason essentially agreed to a 6/$100M extension. Moncada would probably cost more because he already has $30M in the bank and might not be eager to sign away two free agent years, but there’s a number way below $300M to lock him up for the next five seasons.

Hahn has to find a way to lock up Moncada this offseason. While buying out two free agent years would be ideal, even one would be a huge win IMO.
