QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 08:29 PM) In DSL Coronado was 4-4 with 2 doubles. J Guerrero was 1-5. Mieses had 3 hits. All of those were 2016 signings? I think. I believe so. All are 17. Anderson Comas too (2-5, 3B). Mieses just turned 17 on May 31.

Bernardo Flores and Matt Cooper too.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 07:20 PM) Overworked? Maybe he has a physical problem we don't know about...? Ricky forgot about the day off. -

Q already starting to fray. Gonna be another long bullpen night. -
Dunning doing weird things. 9 outs, all K's

QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 09:06 PM) Strikes out the side in the 6th and his fastball was around 88 on the gun. But that curve ball was just untouchable today. He threw a couple decent change ups that inning too. Some guys on the board have said the Charlotte gun is always slow, so that's probably closer to 91-92.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) At any rate, it seems like all the recent concern at SoxTalk Land is migrating to Yoan Moncada. Mostly just concerned about the recent power outage, although it could be linked to the thumb. His slash line is still fine and the K rate is improving, with BB holding steady.

I think Frazier is toast as a starting 3B. Maybe on a 1-year, show me kind of deal, but I can't imagine extending him.
-
Two things - he was due for a slump, given that he's carried a .400+ BABIP for most of the season, and also, he's returning from an injury, which might be nagging him a bit. He should still be up in July, which was probably the plan all along.

http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20170604 Something weird i've noticed is that when Basabe and Collins are both in the lineup, they both tend to have similar results. No real evidence to back that up, just seems that way. Michalczewski continues to hit the ball hard. Maybe, like Engel, he needed a demotion to remember how to hit?

Shields starting for Charlotte tonight, per Twitter.
-
Ynoa - Hip flexor strain. probably not arm related, hopefully will be a short stay. This could just be workload management, giving him a bit of a break.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 3, 2017 -> 09:20 AM) The whole point of the thread is not to go for it but that our rebuild is super far along, which is super enviable. Good players are about to come up from AAA. Celebrate! It's not super far along at all, and the only useful pieces ready to move up are Rey Lopez, Moncada and Delmonico. Delmonico looks like more of a role player, Lopez a 3-4 if he pans out, and Moncada, well, who knows. That's one potential star and two useful pieces. Add that to what is already in place and you have what, a 75 win team? This process is just starting.

I guess I don't see any of the six guys I listed as a huge reach. Pubs are split on Peterson (MLB.com has him 31, Fangraphs at 8) but the other 5 guys are all generally listed in the 8-13 range.
-
- Kendall - Pratto - Faedo - Peterson - Smith - DL Hall You could swap Smith for Haseley, but I assume they assume he will be gone. I'm also really hoping they are at least considering an underslot deal for like, Hiura or Warmoth. Actually based on his comments i'm gonna edit this.

This DH interview with Hostetler is pretty eye opening. Says they're down to six players on the big board - 4 college, 2 prep. No breakdown on bats v. arms. Says they are prioritizing the same things as last year. "We do want to limit a guy with a swing and miss (probability); we want to make sure that we have hitters who put the ball in play and pitchers who pound the zone." Doesn't really sound like Kendall, but then again, Hahn met with him, so there's some smoke there. https://www.dailyherald.com/sports/20170601..._medium=twitter

May 30th Game Thread: ChiSox vs. BoSox
daggins replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in 2017 Season in Review
Whereas in past years we've had stars with no role players, this year we have strong role players and a lack of stars. Go figure. -
FYI, some Fangraphs bros chattin' bout Q 9:42 Phil Sheridan: Is Quintana hurt? How do you explain this season for him? 9:43 Paul Swydan: He’s had a few bad starts, and a bunch of good ones. I think he’s probably fine. 9:43 Jeff Zimmerman: Everything seems inline but his ERA. 9:43 Rick Hahn: Q got tattooed again tonight. Does this totally crush his mid-year trade value? 9:44 Paul Swydan: If teams are scared off because Deven Marrero lucked into a couple of homers against them, they probably need new talent evaluators. 9:44 Jeff Zimmerman: No, but he wasn’t going to bring back too much talent anyway I'm guessing when JZ says 'too much talent' he means a Chris Sale return. If he falls back into line, he could still get a Cole Hamels return, which would be ok.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 30, 2017 -> 08:49 PM) Is there another? LOL None the excels at panic like this one. But I don't frequent other sports boards - its probably the same for every team. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 30, 2017 -> 08:44 PM) Disappointed all the way around. Bosox .190 hitter with two homers and five RBIs and we miss the Big homer by a few feet. But I don't know how Q's struggles tonite morphed into a complete meltdown of the entire list of pitching prospects of the organization? What board do you think you're on?
