My only problem with the Rox as a Q destination is that we've heard nothing at all about their deadline intentions. Its possible they're keeping it close to the vest, or that they haven't decided, but I remain skeptical that they will add anything significant this deadline.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 12:00 PM) It's their 2nd, 3rd and 6th best prospects for a SP who's ERA is 4 and WHIP is 1.3. You know, completely stripped of context like this, it almost looks like a reasonable trade. Why don't teams like the Royals or Orioles get on this deal?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) Brewers could really use Kahnle Alternate take - it's now virtually certain that Clint Frazier wouldn't be part of a package for Q.
  4. Looks like Ynoa cleared waivers, so he's off to Charlotte.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) Do they? They have two awesome starters and then a bunch of question marks. That's not going to work very well come playoff time. IMO, they'll almost certainly add another quality starter. It's possible, but there's not much pressure. They seem like a better match for Gray, who they can probably get without trading Tucker or Whitley.

Getting the Brewers and Cubs involved would help his market quite a bit, as its hard to see an AL team biting right now. The Yankees are regressing hard and the Astros already have one of the best rotations in baseball. Hopefully the Barves rumors are true as well. I'd prefer him in the NL, obviously.
  7. Seems like the 2nd wildcard is gumming up the works, so to speak. Right now, only three AL teams are definitely selling, and most of the NL teams that are in sell mode don't have much to trade. I'll say first major trade is Ryan Madson to the Red Sox. Dombrowski is aggressive and they could use a set-up man for Kimbrel.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 06:20 PM) Build up that trade value Frazier, Melky, Robertson, & Kahnle! And Holland! though I hold little hope for it.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Yankees, Blue Jays among the teams here with a keen eye on tonight's game. https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/883473134451658752 BJs must be doing due diligence. If they rip off a string of wins, they could be looking at a starter or, more likely, bullpen help.

My idea for Frazier was for the Angels to acquire him to play third, thus moving Escobar back to second. Red Sox and also the Yankees, to some extent, are possible Melky, well, see above. Angels, Royals make the most sense as far as need, but its tough to see a fit, money-wise.

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 07:05 AM) A sentence I never thought I would read. Yeah, I noted that it felt weird to write it. Also, Melky being an improvement over Alex Gordon. These truly are the end times.

I can see Melky being moved to a fringe playoff team - looking at the LF and DH leaderboards, the Royals and Angels stand out as teams that have gotten sub-replacement performance from the DH slot, and Melky would be a big improvement over Pujols or Moss. The sticking point will be money, though, and it's tough to see that being worked out before August. But yeah, someone will eventually trade for Melky.
  13. I think Melky gets moved in August, simply because there's no reason to keep him around and he won't have so much money owed at that point. Frazier has looked better lately, so its possible he goes before the July deadline, but also possible he joins Melky in going after. Shields might be an off-season trade, a bad money swap or something, to free up a rotation spot, or else he stays. Robertson, Q and Swarzak should all go before the deadline, easily.
  14. I voted Swarzak, because he's on a cheap expiring deal, so there isn't money to haggle over, and he won't cost much in terms of talent, and there are enough teams that are close to a WC spot who can convince themselves that a peripheral BP upgrade is worth it.
  15. After the AS break, after some trades open spots, after the Super Two deadline passes.

Verlander doing the best he can to tank his trade value, which helps boost Q's market.
  17. daggins replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, Frazier hit a double and a HR in his first game up, so now, of course, the Yankees won't trade him.
  18. I'd still probably take the Braves, but yeah, good collection of arms in the system right now. Pleased as punch that guys like Jordan Guerrero and Bernardo Flores have stepped up.
  19. Tilson is doing the hokey pokey with the walking boot... he puts his right foot in, he takes his right foot out, he puts his right foot in...
  20. Well the good news is that we don't have to worry about cutting into Leury's and Engel's time in CF. The bad news is that Tilson fractured his foot (again?) Beginning to accept we won't see him in 2017, if ever.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 05:56 PM) Good pitching tonight. I'm predicting a nice rebound from Lopez tonight. Prophetic. 6IP 1ER 1BB 9K 1HRA.
  22. No matter how awful their pen is, no how desperate it seems, the Nats are not trading Robles for relievers. Lets just stow that talk.
  23. But hey no hey really keep trying to wring just that very last drop out of has-beens like K-Rod and Kevin Jepsen. See how well that works for you.
  24. Every time this happens I feel like the giant from Twin Peaks It is happening...again
