  1. I already did this in another thread, but there isn't a massive shift in any area of Avi's numbers except two places - Pull % and BABIP. The pull % might lead me to believe he's picking his spots better, but instead he's swinging more, both in and out of the zone. So its hard to tell if he's for real or not. I don't think the Cards (or any other team) will give us much for him now, so it benefits Hahn to wait until the end of the season to see. If he finishes with a SLG over 500 and WAR north of 4, hell yeah, trade his ass ASAP. Teams will buy that, and it's not like he'll give us a discount to play here after 2019.
  2. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) I would value him as a 2-win, replacement level player. Not a 4+ WAR All-star, and certainly not a 6+ WAR superstar. 2 win is an average player, more or less. Replacement level would denote 0-1 WAR.
  3. I think Cafardo is making stuff up here. Assuming he's not, yeah trade him now for anything you can get. I'm not a believer.
  4. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 10:33 PM) Who is being demoted/DFA'd for Shields to pitch on Sunday? Hasn't been announced. Holmberg? Infante?
  5. I was mostly joking, but he has looked pretty good the last few outings, at least the first two times through the order.
  6. Seems kind of pointless to follow this until after the trade deadline, no? The Sox will be mediocre-bad until then, and likely worse after.
  7. No one. I picked Abreu because trading him when there's no market for 1B would be dumb. But trading anyone not named Rodon or Anderson is reasonable at this point.
  8. We were all very concerned for our boy, and this is an exciting result.
  9. Moncada bomb. From the right side this time.
  10. Whew. That was close to being very bad. That is a much more Q-like outcome than i've seen most of this season.
  11. Gray seems pretty likely to move, i'll agree. He's been decent and has the numbers to back it up. But there's multiple teams that could use a starter for multiple seasons, and Gray getting dealt doesn't preclude a Q trade. Even tho he's been dingered, he's having a pretty decent game tonight.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) Archer, Cole and Yu are the three that should worry Hahn I'm extremely doubtful the first two are getting moved, and skeptical of the last, although the Rangers may still crater. Darvish's value is a lot different since he's the closest thing to a true ace available and he's a FA at the end of the year.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) Herrera is a pending FA though, right? 2018. He's Arb4 next year, so he won't be cheap, and he's also having kind of a crappy season.
  14. I'll just have to do another of these in a month after everyone gets traded but: 1. Moncada 2. Kopech 3. Robert 4. Lopez 5. Giolito 6. Collins 7. Hansen 8. Burger 9. Adams 10. Fulmer 11. Burdi 12. Dunning 13. Sheets 14. Basabe 15. Adolfo 16. Engel 17. Flores 18. Am. Nunez 19. Michaelczewski 20. Guerrero 21. Stephens 22. Fisher 23. Cooper 24. Delmonico 25. Mendick 26. L. Martinez 27. Call 28. Skoug 29. Danish 30. McClure Hon. mention - Booker, Morrison, Clark, Bummer, Curbelo
  15. Top 5 hasn't changed. Burger probably slots in the 6-10 range. Sheets in the 15-20 and Luis Gonzalez, McClure and Skoug in the 20-30.
  16. I said Leury, mostly because of two things - 1. He's trimmed his K rate by, like, 10%. That's nuts. 2. He's hitting for pretty decent power for a little guy. Neither of these things seemed even remotely probable at the start of the season. Whereas Avi harnessing some of his pull power seemed like it SHOULD happen, at some point, just maybe not with the Sox.
  17. Like, Jimenez/Candelario/Caratini/some pitcher. I could see that working, maybe.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Or they make it something like Schwarber, Almora and someone like Clifton. Struggling players for each other. Can forget Eloy Jimenez or Happ. Baez is probably more valuable to the Cubs now anyway, fwiw. Cubs' fans would say it's an overpay, Sox fans not enough to move the meter. Cubs don't get Q without Jimenez. End of story. No one wants broken-ass Kyle Schwarber.
  19. From Fangraphs' Eric Longenhagen: "If not for the way Alec Hansen pitched after signing, Flores would be generating more buzz as the White Sox’ draft coup from 2016. Flores struck out a batter per inning as a sophomore at USC but his velocity was inconsistent as a junior, showing 93-94 some starts and dipping back down to 88-91 in others. He worked more with a cutter in 2016, though it may not be a pitch of focus going forward, and has a projectable four-pitch mix. Flores made more starts in pro ball after he signed than he did in three years at USC, so not only is his arm relatively fresh but his pitches probably feature more projection than one might expect from a typical college arm. He has a good pitcher’s build, pitches with downhill plane, and has feel for a shapely, average curveball and changeup, in addition to the cutter. The changeup was flashing plus in pro ball with great velocity separation from the fastball and arm-side fade. Flores mimics his fastball’s arm speed, as well. I think, if you’re willing to project on the pitches based on a lack of reps in college, that there’s mid-rotation upside here. The velo fluctuations are concerning, he didn’t blow away rookie-level hitters in 2016, and he’s far from the majors, but I think Flores is one of the most interesting prospects in the system." I like the kid a lot.
  20. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:05 AM) I think we match up the best with the Yankees and Cubs tbh. I would love a package centered around Rutherford. Rutherford/Sheffield/Andujar is my dream package. I think Frazier and Torres are off the table due to proximity.
  21. I'm always amazed at how badly Schoenfield values these hypotheticals. Anyways, that seems like too much from Houston (beautox's package) but about right from the other teams. If Houston doesn't include Tucker it's hard to see a deal happening there. They don't have another high ceiling OF prospect that they can substitute. Fisher and Teoscar are nice supplementary pieces, but not headliners.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 08:03 AM) Lmao, if James Shields is what turns Giolito around. The cause of, and solution to, our rebuild woes. Hopefully LG can keep up the string of good starts tonight.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 12:06 PM) Easily the most unlikely thing that has happened to the White Sox this year, and that is including Tommy Kahnle. It's almost as unlikely as Leury Garcia being the second best player on the team by fWAR.
