  1. QUOTE (heirdog @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 07:18 PM) Anyone else concerned that each of Matt Davidson’s subsequent HRs had less distance, launch angle and exit velocity? He was coming back down to Earth with each shot and I think it’s fair to assume he won’t keep up this pace as he clearly was getting tired as the game wore on. ???? Yes, by game 82 he won't be able to hit it out of the infield. By game 160 he will expire on-field from exhaustion.
  2. Matty Three-Times
  3. Missed a bunch of this game but lols at Duffy getting a case of the oopsies in the early innings. That KC rebuild is going to be brutal.
  4. Shields is absolutely going to get released by like, June.
  5. I guess Royal, Braves or Sox at this point, and all those teams are in the tank, to varying degrees.
  6. Is it just me or is Solak a ridiculously light return for Souza Jr?
  7. Beer hits a double in his first AB. Law seems to be extraordinarily high on him, he seems like a comp round guy.
  8. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 11:03 PM) I will feel bad for whoever is the Pre/Postgame host because callers won't know the difference between Bruce Rondon and Carlos Rodon, should Bruce make the team. I'm glad the Hawks never had the Dano/Danault problem (they were both traded) because Foley would have had his brains scrambled daily. Imagine if Jose Rondon makes the team.
  9. Boone Logan has carved out a nice career for himself, and Thornton was good. Everyone else...woof. I had forgotten that Ryan Bukvitch somehow got a job with the Orioles the next year and pitched actual MLB innings by some miracle of low expectations.
  10. I mean, if you get enough guys who can throw 98-100, one or two of them have to end up decent, right?
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 04:24 PM) The idea that the Royals would have been okay with Brandon Moss instead of Hosmer is actually pretty damning there, Morosi. The absence of Brandon Moss does not create urgency to do anything. Why don't the Royals just sign Duda if they want to fake compete?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 11:41 AM) I will be the first to admit that I don't know the draft prospects that well at all, but for my two cents. 1. SS 2. 3B 3. LHP Yup. My exact thoughts when I saw this thread title - High Upside Middle Infielders and Left Handed Starting Pitching.
  13. Pretty backwards to say this is because a few people were offended. It happened because the logo is a horrifically racist characature based on social mores from 100 years ago.
  14. FYI, I believe he had Tatis Jr at #3 :(
  15. Pretty easy to link the Sox to anyone when they have been very active in recent off-seasons and have been known to check in on pretty much every available player.
  16. QUOTE (Saladino'sMustache @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:47 PM) Not saying this means anything, but 14 minutes ago Delmonico posted a picture on Instagram with Machado that was taken in 2010....https://www.instagram.com/p/BcsqSiMnlQJ/?taken-by=nickydelmonico P sure all this means is that he and/or his friends read the internet.
  17. I don't doubt the Sox are serious about pursuing Machado, I just strongly doubt they end up with him.
  18. Rox also a fit for Avi, I suppose, if they don't think Dahl comes back strong. I think they should push hard for Yelich, though. They need more hitters/fielders. Yelich + Carlos Santana makes them a pretty tough team.
  19. GIANTS out Looks like its Dodgers (or Yankees) or bust, baby
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) Maybe I'm crazy, and admittedly I have never seen him play, but are these japanese league stats THAT impressive to warrant such lofty scouting reports? I mean Eric Thames absolutely destroyed japanese league pitching, far more than Otani ever has. I'm not knocking pro japanese baseball, but the competition level is far below the MLB. His 3.3 BB/9 is merely average supposedly for japanese league pitchers as well. Pitching grades: Fastball: 80 | Slider: 65 | Curveball: 50 | Splitter: 65 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 70 Hitting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 65 | Run: 65 | Arm: 80 | Field: 50 | Overall: 60 I'm by no means calling him a bust, but I think there will be much more of a learning curve for him than is being projected. You're crossing up the KBO, which is usually seen as between A+ and AA, and NPB, which is usually considered to be between AAA and MLB caliber. Thames annihilated the KBO, but offense is generally high in that league. Ohtani is an amazing talent, bar none.
  21. You crazy for this one Jerry!
  22. ALC is going to be hilarious next year with three teams in full rebuild.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 4, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) Guererro doesn't project particularly well as a LOOGY. He's a touch-based lefty who's bread and butter is his change up and his breaking ball is still coming along. Guererro has put up some strong peripherals but he's not a guy that a scout is going to fall in love with or a guy that has the stuff to survive in a "hidden" type roll. He certainly could be taken but I am just struggling to find the role that would make sense. Unless some noncontender likes him enough to position him as a longman in a mop up role I'm not sure where fits. Considering the roster of non-competing, rebuilding teams continues to grow, I absolutely expect some team will roster him as a starter and just let him take his lumps a la Dylan Covey.
  24. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) Is he supposed to start the year in the minors, or be up on Opening Day? If he isn't in the majors, there's going to be a huge stink by his agents and the player's union. He's already signing for a fraction of what he should be getting.
