4/26 Games (Giolito and Dunning)
Seems like he's finding some control his last two starts, as the K's have greatly outnumbered the BB. He's still either missing his spots, or else his stuff is flat, cuz he's getting hit hard.

4/25 Games
according to MILB, both games of Kanny's DH are rained out. oh well.

4/24 games
aaaand Kanny rained out again. I feel like i'm being punished for my optimism about Dunning.

White Sox have "set" Luis Robert market
Interesting Q in the MLBTR chat: Eric 2:09 Is the possible pending arrival of Otani going to discourage some teams from going after Robert? A team that goes over the limit on Robert will be dq'ed from the next international signing period, correct? Jeffrey Todd 2:09 Good point. That would be the case. Technically they'd be limited to sub-$300K bonuses, and Otani is obviously willing to take less money, but still that'd be a huge sacrifice on his part. 2:10 John Manuel said today though that he sees Robert as a top-25 prospect out of the gates, so that decision would be plenty justifiable for basically any team. There's no guarantee you're going to be the one org that Otani picks. All the more justifiable for, say, Reds/Pads/White Sox. With the Sox newfound wealth of pitching prospects, maybe they will go all-in on Robert.

White Sox have "set" Luis Robert market
I see the Reds as the dark horse with STL or HOU the favorites. SDP and OAK less likely for the reasons bmags laid out above. CHW are the true wild cards here.

White Sox have "set" Luis Robert market
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) Seriously? I would classify the White Sox as the favorites personally. Badler is usually very good about this stuff, and if he thinks a team that is over the limit already is more likely to sign him, i'm inclined to believe it. That said, there's always a chance the Sox surprise.

Prior to that Badler update, i'd have pegged us at like 20%. Now? Maybe 5-10%.

David Robertson
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 10:37 AM) Neither player listed is a Top 100 player. Soto isn't even a top 10 guy for Washington. He sure is on MLB.com. He's their #3. Also, as an 18 year old in full season ball, his stock is going to be rising quickly. I would expect by midseason he is on most people's top 100.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) I don't know what the Sox are thinking, but I wouldn't mind them eating cash if it meant receiving the best possible package. It seems like they've shown a willingness to eat money in recent years so who knows. I hope so. If Robertson continues to be terrific and the Sox eat maybe 5-6 million left on the deal, I could see Soto + a lottery ticket as a possible deal.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) Would a 2 player package of Juan Soto and Andrew Stevenson be too much to ask for Robertson? Those guys are really intriguing. I remember seeing the question posed in a Fangraphs chat and the guy thought that without significant salary eating, Robertson wouldn't return a top 100 guy. I tend to agree, so yes.

The Rangers aren't likely to be buyers unless they rebound pretty quickly. They're looking more like the ill fated injury prone team from a couple years ago and less like the world beaters from 2016.

Derek Holland
Good call. I'm sure both Derek and the Sox are pleased.

Sign Avi to a long term contract?

4/18 Games
Louie Lechich was finally scored on Micker 2-4 with a 2B and a K Collins struggling at the plate but positive reports on his defense give me hope.

Updated teams interested in Q
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Apr 13, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) Besides Kaprilian (major spelling error here) what do yhe Yankees have in the minors for pitching? Once Tanaka opts out and Sabathia is gone what options will they have? http://www.pinstripealley.com/yankees-pros...arren-prospects This does a good job of examining their depth near-term.

Willy Garcia Called Up
Gotta be Asche or May option rite?
-
Sox sign Ryan Rayburn
Fun answer - he got sick of seeing him thrash Sox pitching. Real answer - at some point Hahn is going to trade Melky. Most of the backup options could generously be called AAAA guys. Raburn may end up pressed into service soon.

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 09:32 PM) What did Tatis show, exactly? Average tools across the board, some of which has started to show in games. SSS and all that, but he looked good after trade / this spring.

Tigers @ White Sox- 4/6/17
Trade Geo now before he gets hurt!

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) You mean that he is just another guy out for money and notoriety? Always follow the money. I was going to say that his 'bias' towards the Sox is because they historically suck at drafting and developing, but even your theory makes more sense than "He hates the WS".

Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
I think its more that the Sox screwed up and traded a good prospect before he had a chance to show anything. Kudos to the Padres, I guess. Other publications are high on Tatis, its not like Law is alone. Why does there need to be a conspiracy or grudge? What happened to Occam's Razor?
-
Update: Luis Robert has been cleared according to Rosenthal
Can we all collectively accept that Law ranks prospects differently from the consensus and move on? It's really dumb to keep beating that dead horse.

Mike Pelfrey Close to deal with Sox
This makes a lot of sense, as he replaces Volstad/Danish as the first guy up if they lose a starter. Pelf stinks, but he is capable of getting MLB hitters out. Can't say that about Volstad, and Danish is miscast as a starter.

Mike Pelfrey Close to deal with Sox
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 12:51 PM) Where did it say he was going to start? I quickly glanced and didn't see that. "With the White Sox slated to be without left-hander Carlos Rodon for at least the next month, the club can now insert another veteran hurler in Pelfey into their current starting rotation." This looks like mostly guessing, tho. It's probably a minor league deal.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) I'm assuming Covey is as good as gone then. Covey or Ynoa would be the only guys that make sense, unless they're trading a reliever.
