  1. Why not just install some laser beam fencing that disintegrates flesh on contact. And then let all the mutt dogs overpopulating our animal shelters roam free on our side of the border to fight over carcasses. Then everyone could go back to owning only purebreads and the border becomes this laser dog fest that nobody wants to f*** with.
  2. Where can I find the penis thread?
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 10:51 PM) There's scant economic evidence that minimum wage increases have led to anything but positive effects over time. Part time work at places like Wal-Mart has nothing to do with Dems (you didn't name a specific company in your example above). It's all about increased profitability and weakened labor unions. Pure capitalism reaps what it sews. Let me ask you this, has Wal-Mart been a net positive in Making America Great over the last 30-40 years? What happened to all the grocery stores, Five and Dimes/Ben Franklins, heck K Mart/Target/Sears/JC Penney, etc that a lot of Americans grew up with? Replaced by profits and increased economy of scale. Sooner rather than later, Amazon and Alibaba will complete the wipeout and there's nothing at all Trump can do to stop these gathering forces of globalization. Get with the program or be run over by progress. The shopping mall will cease to exist. Another final thing to consider is the conspicuous consumption of wants (rather than needs) starting in the 1980's along with the extension of easy credit/credit cards. Also not to be blamed on Dems. And Dems have put a lot more money into apprenticeship/training and vocational programs than Republicans over the years. Trump has a press conference/photo op about a $200 million apprenticeship program in order to distract from Russia and then it just disappears into the mists of time, never to be heard from again. I'll go one further. I can get anything delivered to me in a matter of minutes here in China. Everything is done by mobile phone/swipe payments, and cash is hardly used. The cost to deliver all these things?....the drivers make 14 cents per delivery. If they don't deliver on time, the first offense they pay a $150 fine, the second they lose their jobs. How many American are willing to work for $14 per hour, compared to $0.14 cents to work hard? http://relevantscience.blogspot.com/2017/0...na-thrives.html I just don't know what to respond to here. Statistics on minimum wage increases over history do not really apply to doubling...doubling...yes doubling the minimum wage. I'm very anti Walmart but it's the reality now. The ACA helps Walmart man! If you can't see how the ACA crushes the smaller business I don't know what to tell you! The big boys can absorb the cost but the small shops have to get clever just to survive. And the way they are doing it everywhere is by having mostly part-timers. And if you double the minimum wage a few things happen. The price of goods has to increase substantially and the workforce has to shrink. There's really no other common sense way to look at it. I'm not anti-ACA over some partisan bs reasons. It's over economic reasons and it pisses me off because it's f***ing over the poor. And the struggling middle class! It can only shrink the economy not help it. Just admit it sucks. It's ok. You can still worship Obama even if you admit it sucks. Everyone just needs to admit it sucks and get to work fixing it, scrapping it, whatever. People need money to survive, not fake healthcare. It did some nice things but I think overall it is a net negative because the poor have no chance to climb up now, and our country is now going to have to become single payer with waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy too big of a population for that to work efficiently, or at all.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 10:12 PM) If you believe that poor people getting access to health care is a flaming pile of S*** then the ACA is exactly that. That has been the Republican Party Policy since 2008+. Yes, ~38% of people in this country will in fact get cancer. Yes, there are things we could do about that - like strengthening EPA regulations. However, cancer death rates continue going down, because we are expanding access to health care. We are about to kick tens of millions of poor people off Medicaid. More than were added by the ACA. If you think that people dying of cancer is a big pile of S***, then tell us a better way to do this. Otherwise, congratulations, a whole lot of people are going to die of cancer who we would have otherwise saved. But they aren't the important ones. It is that simple. Think bigger picture man! Get away from those talking-point statistics for a minute. Just try. Just try to play devil's advocate with yourself. Maybe even google "why the ACA hurts poor people". I've never done it but I bet you'll find some interesting points. The poor are poorer because of the ACA, and it's going to get way worse if something isn't done. It basically said, you will forever be poor. Is that really better than some bulls*** health insurance that a majority of doctors (The good ones) don't even want to accept? "Hey Joe Poor, you can come be an apprentice and make a couple bucks more an hour, but you'll lose most of your health subsidies, so you'll actually make less money. Or you can stick with your under 30 hours a week because your boss only has 1000 part-timers now job. You pick. Meanwhile, vote Democrat and demand a $15 minimum wage so your small-business owner boss has to lay off more people, probably you, to compensate for his increased material and labor costs. And make sure you thank me for that $6 loaf of bread in 2020. But hey go see your Medicaid doctor for free for 5 minutes." -Obama
  5. But don't you get what the ACA really was? A big flaming pile of s***. It's that simple. The real issue is that what we eat and drink is poisoning us. Everything we use is made out of oil byproducts. Everybody's chicken comes from some Tyson factory. Isn't it 1 in 2 men will develop cancer now, or 1 in 3? The problem is cancer. That's it. f***ing cancer. We're all being poisoned and I have no idea how to stop my poisonong or my son's poisoning. Flint was just the beginning. America is one big Flint. And I don't know what to do to protect my loves ones. Move to a tent by some stream in northern Canada? f*** if I know.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 10:15 PM) Eighty-seven percent of upper-income Americans -- those making $75,000 or more annually -- own stocks, as do 83% of postgraduates and 73% of college graduates. Sixty-four percent of Republicans hold stocks, compared with half of Democrats and independents. Men are more likely than women to be stock owners. Those aged 50 to 64 are the most likely of any age group to say they have money invested in the stock market. http://www.gallup.com/poll/147206/Stock-Ma...owest-1999.aspx Poor people don't own stocks?? Somebody get them some stocks! American Stock Sharing (Act) has never been needed more.
  7. I'm not too worried about the low walk total. He's barreling the ball almost every AB. I think another few months or next year he will start getting the full respect from pitchers. Right now he's probably labeled as "Cmon, I've faced this guy the last few years...he ain't THAT dangerous". Keep it up Avi and you'll be relabled as "Uh oh, better be extra careful here". Then I think the walks will trend upward. Super impressed so far. Best thing that could have happened this year for the Sox.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 08:45 PM) Lol. i would cook my own s*** brownies and eat them if we got Robles.
  9. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) Robertson and swarzak for robles Love it. Win win.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 04:15 PM) Kopech couldn't finish 4 innings Think he comes back pissed next time around, 12-15k?
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 09:40 PM) Where has cutting corporate tax rates and individual income tax rates (disproportionately) for the top 20% worked in ANY world economy? It's simply going to lead to even more inequality/wealth gap in society...it's simply going to lead to $25-$30 trillion in debt (which means there will be NO MONEY left over for government after defense spending and entitlements like Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid and interest payments on that growing debt). There's no economist in the US who believes that we can have consistent 3-4% growth, because we'll eventually have to raise interest rates. Meanwhile, pulling out of TPP, $1.3 billion in lost tourism due to travel bans/threat of bans and laptop/battery rules, pulling out of the Paris Accords...we're LOSING MONEY AS A RESULT OF ALL THESE DECISIONS!!!! Meanwhile, the Chinese are steaming ahead with the AIIB and One Belt/One Road infrastructure project (NEW SILK ROAD) that will tie 60% of the world's population together economically. We have the ridiculously inept Amtrak, while here in China the average long distance train travels 180-200 MPH, new developments are happening in quantum computers every and there are more ENGINEERS here than public school students in the entire United States. China will soon have their first commercial airlines, to go with their developments in robotics, computing and rail travel, not to mention solar/geothermal/wind turbine, etc. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/07/opinion/...trade.html?_r=0 You are being foolish/naive if you think we're well-positioned to compete globally and that these tax rule changes, exemptions, etc., will boost GDP growth significantly. Companies/CEO's will simply use the extra money to invest in robotics (replacing more workers), buy back shares and finance more mergers and acquisitions, leading to more profits for Wall Street and fewer consumer options for Main Street. I don't get the purpose of the tangent fest but small busines owners would instantly be able to hire more employees and invest in more equipment. Now I'm highjacking this thread. Not my intention, sorry. Just originally was saying I'd like to see him get his shot. Trump needs to shut up and quit feeding the dogs and the dogs need to shut up as well...for the f***ing good of the country.
  12. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) Picking 4th if the season ended tonight. 4 games behind Philadelphia for the #1 pick, 3.5 behind San Diego for #2. Winning 2 of 3 against San Diego in May could end up having significant ramifications on next years draft. Certainly possible but I like that there are plenty of NL teams they can beat any series. The Sox' rotationis starting to show its colors so it's hard to imagine winnijg too many series against a pretty competitive AL. PLUS the Sox potentially stand to get much worse after the deadline. Not too familiar with San Diego's roster but what pieces do they have to trade that will impact their competitiveness? Surely no Quintanas, DRobs & Kahnles We also get to call up the AAA guys. Hopefully they shine but the rest of the rotation stays garbage
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 08:32 PM) What ideas? Which ones are good for the country? His policies of tax benefits for the ultra rich and continued pillaging of the lower and middle class are bold I guess. And I dont see how anything is stacked against him. He has the house and the senate. He has the ability to rip off executive order after executive order. But instead he's doing next to nothing and having signing ceremonies for memos. He's playing golf, talking about the election and not doing his job. How can anyone get behind that? Corporate tax rate at 15% and getting rid of the over 50 enployees mandate would boom the economy like I've never seen in my adult life. That over 50 employee mandate is making the poor waaaaaaaay poorer. That kind of s*** bothers me big time. That's probably my biggest gripe with The ACA. Sure they got coverage but now they can't work full time anywhere.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:13 PM) I typically think Comey does come off as credible because both sides can't decide whether they like him. I don't think whether Trump is a liar is really up for debate and I agree at face value that I'd take Comey's word over Trump's. Hoping an investigation would go away isn't really a crime. I think it's disputable whether that's a directive. He didn't qualify that Trump's words nauseated him or left him rogue on the matter like he did with Lynch. It seems like Lynch's directive, as he put it, had more of an effect on him than Trump's yearning. Now people will say that's not the point of the investigation but I don't see how that matters. I do see how you could look at Trump's firing of Comey and say it looks very bad for Trump but if you're Trump and you know you didn't collude with Russia to interfere with the election do you keep giving validity to that conspiracy? The investigation on Russia has been going on since before the election with two different administrations and a full-fledged effort from the majority of the media and they still can't find a smoking gun. The people in Congress who investigate it - Waters - "There's no evidence of collusion." Feinstein - "I haven't seen any evidence." Comey on the NYT piece that started the conspiracy - "almost entirely wrong." At some point, whether people like Trump or not, they're going to have to let him go on with his administration. Well said. I'm very very independent myself. I know this isn't a popular opinion on here but I still maintain that the Clinton campaign used the Russia hacking situation as a distraction from the somehow ignored conspiracy against Sanders. That deflection has become this huge thing and I would bet my house that nobody on Trump's team including Trump is/was acting as some kind of Agent for Russia. A lot of people have already suffered and been smeared because of this. I don't like Trump but I want him to be able to get to work being President without all this baggage. Some of his ideas are bold and I'd like to see him get his shot. But it's not a good thing for America if the deck is stacked against the President, no matter who it is. Trump's gotta do his part and shut up about it too. Like you said, at some point let's get back to working on America. A whole ton of people didn't like Obama's lack of any leadership position prior to becoming President but he still got his shot. His legacy is Donald Trump like it or not.
  15. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 03:24 AM) I guess all the evidence they have so far is "fake news" then???? Whoa man. I'm no die-hard Trump Hog. Just been around long enough to know Hillary pulled out the Russia card as a deflection. I bet even she is surprised at what it's become. And what evidence? Maybe I missed some.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 06:59 PM) They didn't meddle. Putin cleared that up with Megyn Kelly.. Every country is meddling all over the world. Do you think the Arab Spring was...organic?
  17. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) lets lose 99 games This could easily happen once the whole Covey. Pelfrey, Shields & Holland tran derails into a flaming pile of scrap metal. Bullpen is showing signs of not being able to carry a heavy load, which no bullpen really can.
  18. And the Russians continue to laugh at this circus. What a bonehead move it was to make public "the Russians meddled in our election". The rule is you keep that s*** under wraps because every country is trying to meddle in every other country's affairs every day. That's geopolitics par for the course. Making this into this big ongoing story is the worst thing for global democracy ever. Makes us look so stupid giving them all this press. And still no evidence anybody did anything wrong, as obviously expected. So dumb. Let's get back to helping Americans. Oh look another American politician met with a Russian politician! Oh no! Manchurian Candidate. Gimme a break.
  19. Those standings look very nice. Thank you
  20. Greg I'm no expert. If that was sarcasm then funny funny. I just meant by Mr. Environment that I'm one of the many that really cares about the issue. I just always thought this whole deal was a big f***up waiting to happen. As someone above mentioned, without the battery technology this is a giant waste of time and money. And it was like a free pass to wait 5-10 years to address the issue, because Nicaragua is right, there's no accountability. The $100B slush fund (as a baseline i believe) was basically going to line the pockets of major energy companies because obviously many countries that would "benefit" from the money haven't the technology or infrastructure to do it themselves or utilize any of the money properly. So BigBoyOil and BigBoySolar and BigBoyFilter were going to travel the world "helping" these countries but running out of money immediately to do anything substantial. "We need trillions more". All this money needs to go to research IMO, all of it. I mean all these countries are agreeing to limit emissions already, why does the world need to shell out trillions on something that doesn't work like bandaids without adhesive. Or using chewing gum to help the titanic float for another minute. If we all figure out a way to harness and store the sun correctly then that is the time to invest and save the planet. Meanwhile, everybody do what you can and share what you discover. I think what Trump did was bring more attention to an issue that needed it. It's pointless without policing it.
  21. I'm glad we took the lead here. Took some balls. Now let's fix the climate the right way, whatever that is. As a climate activist myself, I feel like the Paris Agreement just kicked the can down the road. The CEOs of the major energy companies are pissed because the money won't be as easy and the idiots are mad because they think this means "pollute, pollute, Trump hates the Earth." Such idiocy. We can do better than "let's each put a filter on a smokestack", which was basically what this deal was. Always hated it, and I'm Mr. Environment.
  22. The whole point of the thread is not to go for it but that our rebuild is super far along, which is super enviable. Good players are about to come up from AAA. Celebrate!
  23. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) Just sayin we want to rebuild, f this year. You kidding? I don't think anybody is arguing to go for it this year. The consensus is focusing long term, spoken from the GM himself. Not sure what you are arguing here brother
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) So many games against teams in the division. Baseball made a big mistake doing that. My gawd. It's always the same games. Chisox vs Det, Minnie, Cleve, KC. ... Grows old. What would you like to see? 11 games against each team in the league and 8 interleague? You'd get the superstars to different cities more.
  25. It's a little bit harder to breeze through a season when your entire pitching staff isn't having a career year. Almost everyone pitched out their ass last year. I don't think Russell is a good major leaguer. He'll stick around because he plays a decent shortstop, but his bat is terrible. It's fun to look at his stats from last year when he wasn't playing the Reds or Padres AAAA pitching.
