White Sox Option Jacob May, recall Willy Garcia
Jerksticks replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yea bye dude. Sorry man bye. -
Stay the course for sure. But somehow watching this team I feel like it's hands down better than last year's, somehow. Losing 10 WAR in two players tells me otherwise but maybe Renteria is worth about 6.5-7 WAR. I dunno. The bullpen is also lights out. They are killers right now. Can't believe Rodon is coming back too. Done rambling.

His defense is so much better than I expected. His floor is already above average which is huge- ceiling is greatness. Defensively that is. Worrying about a young person making some mistakes and jumping to conclusions from it is in the manual of What Not To Do As An Adult Human.

QUOTE (ron883 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) Ownage? If by ownage, you mean him confirming the ownage done by me against all the doubters. I made that thread last year early in the season, and Jose went on to post a pedestrian .820 OPS. This just confirms my prediction Yea but dude it's pretty common knowledge that he's not the superman of his rookie first half. Pitchers can get him out but he's still dangerous in any given atbat. His bat isn't hurting the team by any means.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 12:13 AM) We simply can't allow that crazy man to nuke the West Coast in a couple years. China has to realize we can't take that risk. If they don't help us out, global nuclear war is ahead like in War Games. Do you think Kim just presses FIRE the minute a couple ICBMs are ready? I honestly don't know. I mean how much does he really care about the citizens of his country? I'd love to know. That's the key.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 05:24 PM) Try since health care fiasco, Whitewater and huge profits on insider commodity tip. This goes all the way back to 1980's, when they accused of authorizing drug cartel flights into Mena, AR, and murdering Vince Foster. Hillary even called it the vast right wing conspiracy to destroy her, but it didn't take nearly as well as Trump's tactics. Bingo. What i was saying about propaganda is that i don't think most adults over 30-35 believe all this hype about increasing racism, misogyny, white supremacy etc. That's complete bulls***. Sure it riles up really young adults, especially on college campuses, but seasoned adults in general are just out in the world trying to cooperate with everybody else. I know a bunch of people of all backgrounds, can't think of a single racist. Can't think of a single misogynist. Don't know any nazis. And I've been out there. My job every day is to go out there and meet new people of all classes and races. The hate isn't there. Just people out trying to make a few bucks for whatever reason. The only hate is at these marches and campuses- I live in a college town. The media spotlight on every isolated incident is not helping this country. Bad people gonna do bad things.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 01:47 AM) I plan to teach my son that the path of a Gandhi, MLK, Mother Teresa or Obama is just as valid as being a billionaire business tycoon. In the end, our charities, churches/ministries and social justice warriors will be the only ones fighting for those made obsolete by this new economy. Below is one of the solutions Bernie Sanders has proposed... What is to be done? There is a possible solution to the economic challenge: universal basic income. Our economy still generates enormous wealth. The question is how to get that wealth to the people who need it. The answer might be to provide every American with an income sufficient to buy the basics -- food, clothing, shelter and modest pleasures such as recreation and a bit of travel. There are details to work out, such as how high to set the basic income level so as to cover everyone's needs without turning everyone into a lazy bum. But the concept is straightforward, and its implementation could be surprisingly easy, perhaps building upon the Social Security system. Moreover the cost is reasonable. Divide current total US personal income, around $13 trillion, by current population, around 320 million, and we get a universal basic income around $40,000 per person. Not bad. The harder problem is the psychological one and the attendant social and cultural problems. What happens to human nature in a world without work? Will we all become sloths? Or, freed from the need to work, might we find within ourselves a hidden Michelangelo, an unknown Patsy Cline or an undiscovered Maya Angelou? We might find out sooner than we think. I feel like you were reading too much into my intent with my SJW comment. I just meant wanting to burn people at the stake by making sweeping generalizations based on isolated incidents of wrong. Not the ways of Gandhi, MLK & Mother Teresa. It's Easter. Let's hope some people get overwhelmed by feelings of love, tolerance & forgiveness today.

Yes I agree. It was really the obsolescence of "guys at desks" that started the decline. Gone are the days of the middle-management stooge, which probably represented tens of millions of Americans. And gone are the guys at factories forever. So now you have to officially be good at something. The gap between have and havenot is going to keep increasing and taxing the rich won't do a damn thing. Not one iota of one thing. Neither will blowharding about bringing jobs back. Get good at something or you're not getting a decent house and sending kids to school. I don't blame the Boomers. It was inevitable. The PC crowd, kids being babies, the global economy, automation etc. was inevitable. It sucks PC has to exist but dah well. All we can do is teach our kids to respect everybody the same and to never ever become a social justice warrior.

QUOTE (ron883 @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) I don't think many people adore Hillary. But you are more of a simpleton, self admitted. You have admitted to not know the most about politics. Things are explained to you often but to know avail. You are easily swayed by propaganda that plays on your emotions. That is a big reason you feel why you do about her, realistically. I don't think most people are swayed by propoganda. Like the whole idea that racism, xenophobia, misogyny etc. are on some huge increase. Most people don't buy into the idea that isolated incidents put into the spotlight symbolize some big change. Thank God people aren't dumb enough to buy into that crap. Most people just go about their days trying to feed their families. There's really not much to fight for anymore- everyone has equal rights. America is better every year.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) I will go into the fetal position and cry for a month if Glasnow is the headliner in a Quintana trade. Me too. The only time I wanted Glasnow was when we were trading Peavy.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 04:54 PM) Blake Hickman has been my choice since his draft. It's hard not to root for this guy. Can't believe how time flies- already almost 2 years ago

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 09:20 AM) Which is the same response republicans have for not shutting it down. So we finally found something each party agrees with. It's different. IMO, the premise for the Trump victory wasn't so incorrect. These politicians have to go. It's not about what's best and compromising anymore, its all about party, and getting re-elected. It's too bad there wasn't a more stable, thoughtful "outside" candidate, instead of one who still thinks he hosting a game show. I wonder if George Soros just threatens to kill every Dem's family if they don't stick to the plan. Same goes for the Republican side, just don't know who the big cheese is. I too was also hoping the outside candidate would rattle the cages and get everyone back to work. I'm voting for Terry Crews in 2020.

Holy smokes I can't believe MiLB starts today! I hope the servers are tuned up for the 20 extra comments these game threads are going to get.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 2, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Yes it was...shows how silly the perception about KW is, to be honest. Completely agree. The idea that Kenny is some cowboy who always wants to go for it no matter the cost is fantasy. The Sox had an impressive core from 2000 on. Supplementing it & augmenting it were the only smart choices. KW did a fantastic job. I think the lack of playoff appearances is more on JR for being too tight to add the final piece. And some of the failures were a direct result of freak player injuries. I think KW did a great job considering he was always $10-$20M short of what he needed to swim with the big dogs and sign cornerstone pieces.

2017 White Sox Home and Away Uniform Change
Jerksticks replied to Frank_Thomas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes this seems like a quality move. -
Lopez/Giolito/Kopech/Moncada/Fulmer sent down
Jerksticks replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I still feel like the tell-all for Giolito will be velocity. That's always been his game, where all his stuff plays off the fact that the hitter is worrying about 96 coming hard as s***. If this velocity never comes back then he's basically starting over as a crafty guy, which he's never been. All this talk about switching mechanics, getting back to basics etc. makes the conspiracy theorist in me worry a bit because batters are teeing off on his arsenal. Totally understand this is super premature. I just hope he can start lighting up the gun soon. -
I'd like to add that we need a nasty pen just as much as a nasty rotation, and maybe even more soif we're going to try to win with a staff of young starters.
-
Yes I like him in relief, but I'd like to see him bred to be a 2-3 inning, once through the order guy. Maybe he pitches every 3-4 days, once a series or so.

QUOTE (Soha @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 09:17 PM) I suspect the Astros believe they are the only serious contender for Q, and there's no point in bidding against themselves. The great news for us is, whether that's true or not - there should be plenty of suiters as the season plays out. I think this is true too. I also think it will play out early like the Peavy 1 deal that fell through. An injury or some realistic assessments by teams in mid-late May will kick up the chatter. After a leaked story or two.. welcome to the early trade winds. I'd guess Q's gone by June 1st. Mid June at the latest.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 06:24 PM) You guys realize whoever they would replace him with would more than likely sound similar, right? I'm still pushing for Ghost Hawk. Input your voice, output Hawk's voice. Problem solved

QUOTE (Donaldo @ Mar 26, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Have there been any Alec Hansen sightings this spring training? Best damn question asked here in a while..nice hoss!

Man it would be sweet to trade them a package of Q & Rob just for the evil satisfaction of drinking up the oil with their straw.

I'm guessing Shields is pure toiletdick today

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) I'm starting to think May makes this team as the starting CF until Tilson gets back. Yea it sure seems like May has done everything a guy can do to win a spot. Same with Bourjos. Do they bat with the same hand? Seems like a tough call (pun intended for alex).
