  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 31, 2014 -> 07:43 AM) Boo hoo the Sox are getting national attention for once over the Cubs. Cry me a f***ing river Dickstein. Huh?
  2. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 30, 2014 -> 05:58 PM) Also I'd be thrilled to have 2 Chris Sale's atop the Sox rotation. Handedness be damned. Word. Most sane people would.
  3. Kiley's latest mock. http://sbb.scout.com/story/1407185-2014-ml...mock-v2-0?s=381
  4. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 30, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Is it completely unrealistic to think 2016, at 20? Yes.
  5. Mayo's new mock has the Sox taking Rodon.
  6. While I'd prefer Aiken, I'm okay with Kolek too. I think some around here are a bit too down on him. If the Sox think highly of him I'm sure they've done there due diligence and don't think he's at immediate risk of blowing his elbow out, or are confident in being able to smooth out anything that concerns them. It also sounds like they might be able to garner a bit of financial flexibility with the pick as well.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 29, 2014 -> 12:53 PM) Is the AZL league supposed to be of lesser quality competition a la Bristol? Yep.
  8. Frankie Montas still awesome. 6.2 IP 5 H 2 R 1 BB 8 SO
  9. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 26, 2014 -> 08:17 PM) Ventura is getting knocked around by the Astros. He's still young obviously but so far he's not blowing anyone away until he gets his command. But I like him a lot He's getting knocked around because he's injured. Was sitting around 90 before he was pulled. Might have to add him to the TJ epidemic of 2014.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 26, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) 17,075 on Memorial Day? REALLY? Were all of those fans Yankees' fans the last two days? DJ marketing the Chris Sale start hard, lol. Saying how he would buy a ticket if he wasn't already coming to the game. Great defensive play by Conor, two nice swings by Viciedo and Gillaspie to tack on some more runs hopefully. This thread is about Gordon Beckham.
  11. Irrational pet peeve time. It's Rodon not Rondon.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ May 24, 2014 -> 07:52 PM) if I remember correctly, he was never going to be a big strikeout kind of pitcher, mostly grounder and put outs. Not going to make a big deal out of this particularly because Danish is only 19 in High-A, but pitching prospects for the most part need to show a proclivity for the strikeout. Strikeouts are a significant barometer for future success, especially at lower levels as competition only gets better as you move up. Even your pitch to contact sinker types strike people out in the minors. Extreme cases like Brandon Webb even had K/9's in the range of 7 to 9 throughout his progression. There are obviously outliers and exceptions to the rule, but a lack of strikeouts should raise some concern. Once again, not really worried about Danish. He's 19, on an innings limit, and is only working at 88 to 91 so far. Just hoping that more swing and miss shows up as he hones his craft.
  13. All the ground balls by Danish are great. Hope the swing and miss starts to develop too though.
  14. Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN · 17m Report that Jerry Reinsdorf was part of #WhiteSox contingent to see Aaron Nola is false. Also listed Kenny Williams Jr., scout for diff org.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Board survey time....who is your wish list for the 3rd pick? 1.) Aiken 2.) Rodon 3.) Freeland 4.) Nola 5.) Kolek
  16. QUOTE (southside hitman @ May 24, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) Yeah I would be pretty pissed/shocked if they selected Pentecost. If they wanted to go hitter, which I don't think they should, then go for Alex Jackson. I actually like Pentecost, though 3 would be an overdraft. I still think he's going to go rather early in an under-slot selection due to the lack of true catchers and college bats overall. None of his tools grade out remarkably but they are all at least average. Combine that with solid defensive ability and he's a legitimate top 15 guy.
  17. Aaron Fitt really likes Aaron Nola at least. Aaron Fitt ‏@aaronfitt 5m Aaron Nola is awesome. I am convinced that he is going to be a very, very good big leaguer, and fast. He's just smothered Hogs since 1st. Expand
  18. For anyone watching, LSU's shortstop Alex Bregman is an early candidate for one of the top picks in the 2015 class.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ May 22, 2014 -> 05:22 PM) I'm no scouting eye expert, but I really like Aiken's delivery. Seems real simple. Kolek scares the crap out of me, but could very well be a future all-star. Maybe they like Aiken and would take him at 3, but not Kolek....and Nola is a Plan B if Rodon and Aiken are gone. I hope so. Aiken is my 1-1. Nola as a fallback option with some financial flexibility involved would be fine with me too.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) You would hope so. I wouldn't be too upset with Nola, as his stuff is much better than the likes of Broadway. I would prefer Aiken over him, but I still can't imagine the Sox taking a high school pitcher with the 3rd pick of the draft. I don't mind Nola. Not sure I'd want him at full slot though. The fastball and breaking ball are good pitches. The pitchability, command, and makeup are great as well. The main knock on him is the arm-slot and how he will fare against left handed hitters at the next level. He's almost a side-armer.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ May 22, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) Is Nola someone they could make a deal with that's on the cheaper side to spend more later on? Likely. He's not a top 3 talent. More like top 10.
  22. Speaking of Nola. He's pitching right now against Arkansas. ESPN3 stream etc.
  23. keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 6m White Sox in heavy on Nola today - I saw Kenny Willliams Jr and I was told Reinsdorf is here too Expand
  24. JJ Cooper ‏@jjcoop36 6m Beede, 41 BB in 90.1 IP this year (+ 12 HBP). 55 BB in 94 IP in '13. 13 BB in 14 IP for Team USA last summer.
  25. keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 2m Beede hits the first two Rebels in the 7th and his day is over. 6 IP, 2 R, 5 BB, 4 K.
