  1. I think you're right. Conor was brought up his first year in Pro Ball, so he had to be optioned every year after that.
  2. Still don't see why they didn't option him to Charlotte... Not that they need him or anything like that, but you never know. They have the space on the 40 man.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) i am a little confuse on Saladino and his hitting. in the past, in the minors, he really was an inconsistent hitter. last yr being the only yr he hit over 300+. this yr in the minors, he was hitting 250+. now he is hitting 300+/-. so what kind of hitting can i expect to see if the continues to stay up??? .281.
  4. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 10:42 PM) Danks and Sale and pray for hail Copywrite it.
  5. I still don't get how Danks can clearly out-pitch Shark.
  6. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:50 PM) Good games from Trayce Thompson & Jason Coats in Charlotte, I've been really impressed with Coats throughout his time with us. He's never dominated a league but he's never "failed" in a league either. I know he doesn't have amazing tools but I could see him having a Jeff Conine-type ceiling. Jeff Conine was a stud hitter for 2-3 years. Slight exaggeration. Edit: I should have said 12-13 years. Conine was a terrific major leaguer.
  7. As long as this thread is talking about trading Q for an outfielder, why not Q for Cargo? I would rather have Cargo than that head case from LA.
  8. I thought I would revive this thread. I keep hearing that Rockies really want to trade Cargo for pitching. Cargo has been hot lately, getting his average up to the .250 range after a real slow start, which was caused by minor knee surgery last year. He has looked very good the last 2-3 weeks. Rumors are from non-media sources. Just sayin'.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) Stats in college, at a lower level DI program, may not mean a ton. Ouch. That's my alma mater you just threw under the bus. They had a pretty good program when I was there back in the 50's and 60's. I bet it's still a better program than most Junior Colleges. Anyway, he signed last Feb and had a lot of spring training activity from Feb to June, I'm sure, so he hit the ground running.
  10. It feels like just last year that we had a similar level of anticipation when it was announced that Rodon would be making his pro debut.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) NDFA signing. Clearly too much for AZL. He could maybe play 1B in Kanny - their first baseman (Alexander Simon) was just a need-a-guy pickup and he's about 2 levels lower than he should be, so he doesn't really need to be there. I just googled him. Pretty solid stats at SIU. Can't imagine why he wasn't drafted.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:10 AM) Nice to see Zangari with a few hits and Cody Daily is just murdering the AZL. I've been noticing Cody, too. Don't know much about him, except he is almost 23 and a Saluki.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) How is it that Schwarber and Gallo, two players who also aren't very good defenders at their chosen positions, can go out and play some outfield without much problem? They can throw. I still like the idea of Micah at DH.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:05 AM) That would be huge. I'm open to trading Robertson to shed the salary. Disagree. Robertson still a good closer, even though he cost Sale a win. If he goes, how many wins will the new guy cost? I don't want to read about it.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 12:00 AM) 15 scouts at his last outing, and he throws a complete game shut out. What more could they want if the goal is to trade him? I doubt they trade him. Same here.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) Not saying you are wrong, but I didn't realize Avi stunk this much. Is he this big a disaster or are you exaggerating? My vote is exaggerating.
  17. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) Hamels and Cueto are the only better pitching options out there. Although a team trading for Shark only gets him for two months, it is a seller's market. Got to take advantage of that. Dump LaRoche simply to shed the salary for next year. Rather see the DH spot filled by a group of guys who can play multiple spots. Melky on occasion. Or Avi. Even Micah Johnson. Might be able to get something for Petricka or Putnam. And get Gillaspie out of town ASAP. That is my thought, too. Micah at DH. Keeps Sanchez at second where he can improve as a hitter and gives Micah the PA's he needs.
  18. Boni strategy: 1. Order him to shave; 2. Then, cut him.
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) Obligatory would Micah Johnson make those plays? I doubt it very much. Sanchez playing much better; maybe he likes having Saladino around.
  20. Walters went to Minn IIRC.
  21. You guys are too tough on Avi, IMO. Let him finish out the season; he'll get his at bats. Geez, the guy hit close to .370 in 3 trips to AAA. Bad injury last year. This is his first full year in MLB. I'm pulling for him.
  22. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) Ynoa should be eligible for Rule 5 this year. I think the org would like to see how he adjusts to AA before putting him on the 40 man. Ynoa. I still remember the interview Hahn gave right after the Shark trade, when he said he held out for Ynoa to be included in the deal, that he really wanted him, etc. I always wondered if he really meant it, or was just BSing the world, sort of justifying giving up so many players.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:42 PM) I would let Davidson get his at bats or the other minor leaguers ready for a trial like Thompson. Even Soto or Kottaris. Anybody. After the All Star Break, yes.
