I hate to keep saying this because Elko is a good story, but for a fan base so rabid against guys with high strikeout rates and low walks, Elko is somehow overlooked.
Watching him haul ass down the line, you can see how he has a sky high BABIP in the minors. But look at Moncada and TA for examples of guys that relies on high BABIPs to succeed.
And all of these players ranked just as — or higher — than Vargas, which is what people played up when they acquired him. They also went through hot streaks and somehow based on a month of not being the worst hitter in baseball + a good Cubs series, he is now the future.
Eloy was a pure Cubs killer.
Luis Robert is literally a Gold Glove-winning, All-Star. He's a bust because as a Lat-Am signing he had massive, massive tools.
This organization just sucks all life from players as time goes on.
Man, even if it was poor results with trades (Kimbrel, Lynn in playoffs), or going half ass on signings, the Sox somehow tried more than the Orioles.
Orioles got a rental ace and let him walk. Absolute madness.
