  1. Hell, we had Yermin throwing in the 70s and 80s when he pitched.
  2. Leave places of learning out of this!
  3. Pitchers that throw at dudes for hitting homers are some of the softest dudes in sports (looking at you Keller). Speaking of which, why do pitchers get away with so much behavior that position players would get crucified for? We all know Yermin would get raked over coals by La Russa if he did anything close to Liam's Vince McMahon walk the other day (which was fantastic), and again, Liam is one of La Russa's dudes.
  4. lmao, here he is whining about Tatis' 3-0 homer. He clearly has a whole lot of feelings on the subject. And maybe you could have given him the last part, about not wanting to give the team a chance to retaliate against you, except he proved he was full of shit when he didn't stand up for Yermin, said he had no problem with how the Twins handled it, and even said that maybe the Twins were just trying to throw a slider that got away.
  5. Because he didn't respect the Twins.
  6. + this And while losing Eloy and Robert hurts, Vaughn lessens the Eloy blow a bit.
  7. 0 clue. I need to check in on the Charlotte games when he's in the OF
  8. Well what the fuck do Frank Thomas and Ozzie Guillen know about succeeding with the White Sox that Tony La Russa doesn't?
  9. What does CC know about pitching?
  10. lmao you say this right after a post writer says she was forced to write a false story
  11. Ok, even weirder/my bad: Callis reports that he is in extended Spring Training but can't move to Birmingham until the visa is resolved. https://www.mlb.com/news/where-white-sox-top-prospects-are-starting-2021 Who knows what the requirements are with our immigration system, but it might be restricting him to one location while it gets worked out, despite him being a high profile figure.
  12. Because he was. Then he was supposed to get assigned to Birmingham but is now having visa issues. This has been discussed plenty on the board.
  13. Yeah the NY Post is kind of known for this.
  14. Dude can't even get into the states right now. I know you got weirdly upset over people suggesting that we may have other internal RF options (Gonzalez, Sheets, Rutherford) last night that aren't Colas/Cespedes, but lordy, as stop gaps they could end up playing crucial roles.
  15. Mate, I'm gonna try and make this simple. 1) Players have fun performing during the game. 2) People adhering to some vague, unwritten rules complain about them. 3) They throw baseballs at these players for breaking rules that aren't written down. 4) The message is clear: Don't break unwritten rules or you risk injury. Stop having fun. That turns people off from the game. It doesn't have to be elaborate bat flips or 3-0 counts, what turns people off is the message that fun is bad. That performing is bad. It'd be like if a player got speared for doing a touchdown dance or if someone reacting to their dunk was fouled hard on the next play. The Fun Police ruin the sport way more than the talent athletes excelling at it.
  16. "I don't care about the changing times" - Blockbuster, movie theaters, bookstores, etc. So many industries had this asinine thought and are dying or struggling to hang on. I love watching old baseball, I own a '59 throwback, because I can appreciate the past that led to the present day. I also know that if baseball is to survive, it has to change with the times. I know that I'm grateful I got to grow up with a designated hitter, thus getting more Frank Thomas, or would you rather baseball go back to pre-DH days in the AL?
  17. And during TLR's time, baseball wasn't struggling to attract new fans because it was seen as boring. Which was basically the focal point of the Sox "Change the Game" marketing slogan. You know where they have fun watching baseball / don't worry about unwritten rules? Latin America. Japan (Here's a paywalled article about celebrations in Japan) Korea: And previously, the South Side of Chicago I get that in the 80s La Russa was used to having home runs create excitement on their own. But now we have a dead ball and (hopefully) none of our players are roid monsters like La Russa is used to trotting out for excitement.
  18. Punks hit home runs and win games.
  19. Also, TLR managed 5,000 games but none in the last decade until this year. We know this because, as we've covered ad nauseum, he hasn't bothered to keep up to date with the written rules of baseball and is this caught off guard in-game.
  20. I mean, in your long post about Tony being a 4D savant, you missed that Tony defended the Twins throwing at Yermin and said the ball might have just gotten away from him. It's not about protecting Yermin. It's about protecting how he thinks baseball should be played. Which is exactly why he said he wanted to come back and manage.
  21. Star shortstop is a previous batting champion He annually contends for batting title Manager calls for a bunt
  22. Not just compete, but can be god damn dominant with a deadball and is somehow the best team in baseball without two star outfielders, the fourth outfielder, the star SS out for a stint, the all-star catcher hitting under his weight, the rookie first baseman learning a new position, the ace pitching subpar, and the vaunted bullpen pitching poorly. Along with a farm that isn't highly ranked, but certainly has a lot of raw talent. So the players, Super Joe ... can't wait for Hahn's comments.
  23. This is just an amusing tangent.
