President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) Why is the removal of statues considered changing history? Trump realizes those people still exist in history if their monument is removed, right? In things called...books? We should have been mad at Iraqis for tearing down the Saddam statue. Very sad.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 01:22 AM) LOL No, it's a request to have some semblance of competence on this team. There is no one - not one bullpen pitcher - who should be on a major league roster. Not one. Do you think a game like this and loss after loss helps development? And Petricka - good lord, he's never been any good at all. You say this, but all I hear is pining for Tyler f***ing Clippard.

8/16 Sox @ Dodgers
Gotta love Delmonico's homer followed by Rowand talking about him working to become a better OF.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 09:32 PM) $1 million is nothing in baseball terms. While nothing special, he was the only guy on the roster who showed any competence in the pen - a pen that has to support a starting staff that has trouble finishing the 6th inning. So why give him up for a pittance? Do they have to have THE number 1 pick to make a good pick? Dude. This is the epitome of hero worship.

Rick Hahn & Kenny Williams Sign Long Term Extensions
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 12:12 PM) IMO they were terrible before that. When you have a MVP leading his team to the ECF, you can't expect to win with Keith Bogans in your starting lineup. I still believe that an adequate starting shooting guard was all that team needed, and management failed to get one both in the offseason and at the trade deadline. To be fair it was supposed to be Korver/Brewer, but Thibs loved Bogans.

Rick Hahn & Kenny Williams Sign Long Term Extensions
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) I don't follow the Bulls as much as most of you, I could be wrong. I just see the 2009-2016 White Sox as just a much longer period of wasted time and prime talent. In a sport where simply making the playoffs makes you a title contender, they competed for a playoff spot maybe once. The Bulls screwed up all the D-Rose stuff, but when he was healthy they were much closer to winning the Sox ever were. It was after Rose's injuries that they just went full on terrible. And as good as Hahn is at maximizing asset return, GarPax is the exact opposite.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 08:28 AM) Welcome to the most bipolar thread in Soxtalk history. No prospects ever struggle.

Dodgers vs. White Sox
I'm enjoying Rowand-Benetti

JR "Ozzie can't come back as Manager"
It's a shame Ozzie burned bridges, because him having a future lineup with Anderson, Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Rutherford, etc. would be really fun.

Jimenez could be heading to AA soon
QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 10:26 PM) Haven't seen anybody post that Jimenez and Collins got promoted to Birmingham today.....but they did. Future Sox board.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
When a BLM person walks into a white church and shoots it up or drives over a crowd of white supremacists, then we can talk many/both sides. Until then? Nah

FS: White Sox acquire RHP Ryan Burr from ARZ
I'm a fan of the fact that we seem to be stockpiling bullpen prospects, because lord knows we'll need good relievers.

when can Sox contend?
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 14, 2017 -> 09:04 AM) 1) Clippard was just moved to Houston. Another salary dump. The recent trades with KC, Yankees and Tampa Bay were nothing but salary dumps. The team traded Dan Jennings to Tampa bay for absolutely nothing. We now have Bummer as our only lefty in the bullpen. And he can't get anybody out. 2) I read yesterday that the White Sox are contemplating moving Avi Garcia and Abreu this off season. I have no doubt in my mind that both of them will be moved for prospects. More salary dumps. The team now has the worse pitching staff in MLB. Without Avi Garcia and Abreu we will have the worse offense in MLB And the lowest payroll in MLB. Except none of those were salary dumps.

2017 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) Cause he is still owed $157 million through age 40 for the next 6 seasons. He is aging well so far, but it would be risky to take that deal on. His season is right now better than his MVP season. That's absurd. He'll make for a fun HOF argument.

when can Sox contend?
I expect wildcard contention by 2019. Better be in in 2020 and beyond. And JR just spent $50M on a prospect, so lay to the rest him not spending BS.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
At the end of 2015, Tony Kemp was the #10 prospect in the Astros system and #9 2B Prospect in baseball. Can play INF/OF and has put up great AAA numbers. Kinda sounds like Leury, who has been a great surprise this season. To get that for six weeks of Tyler Clippard? If that's who the Sox pull back it is an amazing deal by Hahn.

Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
If it's Tony Kemp that's an amazing get for a guy who was a salary dump a month ago and leaving in six weeks for nothing
