Great read about how in the end, Juan Pierre and Adam Dun were worth the same thing in their careers despite being the exact polar opposites of one another. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/adam-dun...placement-stat/

A week ago they were healthy.

Minnie deserves the Hall of Fame. It's a travesty that they didn't put him in while he was alive.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 1, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) I really think Adams could be a #2-3 in the MLB. Special stuff. The 2014 Draft has the chance to be really special for the White Sox. If they had been able to (somehow magically) sign Montes de Oca and drafted Jakson Reetz over Fry, we'd be looking at possibly one of the highest upside drafts for a team in recent memory.

You'd think by now MLB would be able to have all of these games streamed.

Met him once and know his son. Hell, I have his cell number. He was the nicest guy and made you feel like family. RIP Minnie.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Feb 28, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) This is the internet. There's no room for "not too concerned" here. Everything must be the worst. 3 weeks is the worst. Also, it is definitely more than 3 weeks. Injuries only happen to my teams. Kevin Durant is not injured. Kobe is not out for the season. Michael Saunders is not out for 6 weeks. Josh Hamilton does not have a suspension coming. Belisario can get out of the pool cleanly. The White Sox have not been the team that has suffered the fewest injuries over the last decade. This has pushed Rodon onto the opening day roster. We just lost a year of team control, he's not ready for the pressure, he'll have to be shut down early, the season is over. Kobe is out for the season

Derrick Rose to have surgery on Torn Right Meniscus
Quin replied to justBLAZE's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Poster on RealGM that has been shown to have sources in the past saying 3 weeks minimum, 8 weeks max. Take it with a grain of salt, but pleeeease let it be true. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) Meanwhile, Jeff Soptic repeated A+ last year and saw his BB/9 increase from 7.78 to 8.90. Man, you don't always win trades that decisively.

Derrick needs this to be one where he can come back sooner than later, or he'll just be mentally destroyed. -

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) wha... how could it not be season ending KC...? K.C. Johnson @KCJHoop · 10s 10 seconds ago Lot of unanswered questions. Neither Bulls nor Rose know when it happened. Nobody yet knows if it's season-ending. Could be like Westbrook's Zach Lowe @ZachLowe_NBA · 27m 27 minutes ago Rose chose to have a tear in the same meniscus repaired last season, which carries a longer recovery time than simply removing the damage. Artest came back in a week from his. -

Derrick's done. Never gonna see him be MVP Rose again -
QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) 2014 preseason there was talk of Nate being our closer. all those hopes were dashed early I hope he can return to his former pitching form. He would be a great asset later in the season to the '15 sox. It would basically be like getting a reliever in a big midseason trade.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) Why not. Anyone want to guess what Brady Aiken would have gotten as a free agent last year? How about Carlos Rodon the year before? Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg.

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) I wonder if a day is coming where the MLBPA supports American-born players to make scratch like this. Or more likely...Moncada gets thrown in the pool to be drafted just like everyone else. Moncada could be the straw that breaks the camel's back, because it is actually hurting the MLB players more than minor leaguers and draft hopefuls.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) I have a question for the group to ponder. Would it beneficial to the White Sox to not be able to come to terms with their 1st rounder this year? It would only leave the team with picks in rounds 4-40 and the Sox would only have about $2 million to spend on the entire draft. My idea then would be to go nuts in International Spending this year. In this scenario, the White Sox would pick 9th next year and own their own 1st rounder. They may even have a third 1st rounder as compensation for Samardzija. The White Sox could have one of the biggest draft budgets ever by doing this. I know it would be tricky to pull this year and blatantly skirting the rules but it'd be an awesome strategy. Add a little talent to system through draft this year. Go nuts in International Market, spending way past the restriction and lose the ability for next year. (White Sox never do this) But in 2016, could have potentially 3 first rounders with lots of $$ to maneuver and no budget in International market. This would be awesome. Is this plan crazy? While I see the logic, depends on the talent available. If someone like Matuella is there, you'd be nuts to skip on him just to have a larger budget next year.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 07:57 AM) Especially with the 2nd and 3rd round picks gone this year, it's key to get the BPA in the 1st and probably for the 4th/5th too. But I would like to see the White Sox try to grab the best college catcher available starting around the 5th/6th round if they haven't grabbed one already. And another one sometime not too long after. Normally, you don't start filling gaps at specific positions until much later in the draft, like perhaps starting in the teens. And normally I agree with that. However, I do think that catching is an exception, because it is nearly impossible to trade for it. There are just so few long-term successful catchers, and so few catching prospects out there that look worthwhile, that teams aren't trading them. And the White Sox have, IMO, a dire lack of catching talent depth across the organization right now. I want to see that addressed if at all possible. So my question to this group is, who are the current college catchers at the top of people's draft boards? I'll look into some in a little bit later this week.

And now I hope he underwhelms.

Man, maybe Jerry is just a smart business man that doesn't want to saddle the team with franchise crippling deals?

QUOTE (beautox @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) Minor League Madhouse has us taking Mantuella at 8 link This would make me unbelievably happy. Having Matuella in addition to Danish, Montas and Adams wold be fantastic depth.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) I love the Farmer and DJ pairing. It has nothing to do with baseball but they're so damn weird and awkward that they make me laugh when I listen to them. But like others have said, I guess that'd probably change if I listened to them a lot. I love them for this reason. But in all honesty, I'd probably get rid of all the announcers but DJ.
