  1. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Wow, parking is FREE in Tampa. That's one thing that often keeps me away from the Cell and Chicago in general - big parking fees. If there's one thing that really irritates me as a suburbanite, it's getting shaken down for a bunch of money the minute I open my car door to get out. It's ridiculous. You're supposed to pay the attendants when you enter the lot, dude.
  2. QUOTE (Herry Braun @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 01:10 AM) Really excellent detail of program schedule. Is there any change here? Uhh....
  3. Nice. I picked him up in fantasy last week anyway because I failed to draft any relievers. We count Saves/Holds as a single stat.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) Dear Steve Stone, Jason Frasor Todd Frazier These last names sound different. Learn it. Sincerely, Everyone listening to you Dear Steve Stone, Jed Lowrie Brett Lawrie. These last names sound different. Learn it. Sincerely, Everyone listening to you
  5. I came across an article that included a list of which teams had done which, but I can't remember where it was now... I'm 90% sure the Sox are doing UP TO the homeplate ends dugouts. Not all the way to the base sides.
  6. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) Hawk is a character. Virtually all other broadcasters in baseball are pointless, worthless, flavorless and devoid of personality. They suck. They're grown in a laboratory in Orlando. They're if khaki pants could talk. They are audience-tested by the corporation. They are not people. They are not interesting. They suck. Cubs are unwatchable. You can dislike some of what Hawk does, and I'll agree it gets way worse when the team sucks (3 straight seasons). But good god, give me anyone with a personality over the Len Kasper/Chip Careys of the world. Len Kasper is both a) good and b)definitely has personality
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 12:34 AM) What I hate even more than the Sox playing at 9:05 pm on Opening Day is the fact that there are now THREE "Opening Night" games to kick off the season. 3 games back-to-back, starting at noon on Sunday. And the marquee match-up that they always start with is the 3rd game. So the biggest game of opening night is actually the 3rd game played. That's a bummer. I always liked the build up and anticipation for that first fulfillment of baseball on the night before every else started. As someone who is going to be at work from 7am until at least 9pm next Monday-Friday, I personally like the fact that I'll get to watch a few games this Sunday.
  8. It's the week of the show at my high school (I teach and direct theatre), so I'll be leaving around 9pm each of those days. Could be worse, I guess. I'll be able to hear/watch some of the opening series of games for certain. I should be able to follow some of the home opener, then watch most of the Saturday game. We close Saturday night, then I have tickets for the Sunday. That's becoming tradition now. Looking forward to it.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 04:46 PM) Pretty cool to see Kane and Dier help England beat Germany. And Alli was MotM, his late miss notwithstanding. Tottenham 2, Leicester 1. COYS, motherf***as.
  10. QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) I might be alone, but I think Saladino is looking better this spring Better than...expected? Than last season? Than Rollins? Some combination of the above?
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 07:58 AM) Agreed. I'm all for free speech but this is an issue that should have remained in the clubhouse at least until it was sorted out. Eaton really comes across as the leader of a social media pity party. If LaRoche can stay quiet on the matter, why couldn't Eaton? This qualifier is completely unnecessary, as this has nothing to do with free speech.
  12. Eaton's act is wearing on me, but he's definitely not overpaid--unless you're comparing him to the US population at large rather than ballplayers, which is silly. He's a bargain.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Not who I was thinking of but look at the new guys they brought in. Frazier Lawrie Narvarro Avila Rollins That's a lot of voices taking over for the quiet clubhouse outside of Adam Eatin before. Also notice that the best player on the team has yet be spoken to. Chris Sale is the best player on the team, but you probably have a point. Most people who've been around teams say there's always something of a split between pitchers and position players.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:43 AM) What is this a reference to? You need to go watch Major League yesterday.
  15. Makes you wonder what the meeting with the players was about. I'd imagine they had a say in the new rule.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) Frazier can play 1B I believe He's played there more than I would've thought. 662 innings, including 335 in 2014.
  17. Who's our backup 1B now? Honest question. DH will no doubt be a rotation, something along the lines of Eaton/Melky/Avi, in addition to Frazier and Abreu, probably.
  18. Made a small personal sacrifice today--cancelled my MLB Extra Innings. I get Extra Innings because my rural satellite internet has a 10GB/mo data limit. This summer I'm getting married and taking two grad classes. Plus, there's a lot of soccer to watch, and I also follow tennis a lot, so I decided I'd try to go without it this summer since I might not get my money's worth anyway with how busy I am. I'm also a teacher, so for April, May, and September I don't really use it much because I often get home late and go to bed early. I figure I still live in a two-team town, and one of MLBN/TBS/ESPN/FS1 has a game every day, so I'm still talking 3+ games each day. Plus, half the time I don't need to worry about avoding Hawk, so I might watch more Sox baseball regardless. I'll miss the flexibility of watching whatever pitcher I want, or checking in on Trout or Harper, and (especially) not hearing Scully whenever I want during what will likely be his final season, but saving all of that money will be nice. Maybe I'll start getting it every other year, in non-World Cup/European Championship years for soccer.
  19. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) He looked better than Johnson but I think he still ends up in AAA...................... lolwut
  20. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) I'm rooting for Hawk to get all new organs, maybe some new eyeballs since he has some vision issue, probably a new skeleton and some fresh skin too. I'm in my early 30s and I hope to hear him for my next 40 years.
  21. One more thing on Brett Lawrie. His surname is pronounced like the name "Laurie," now "Lowry." This confusion alone is enough to make me regret signing him; I hear people getting it wrong more often than not. Hopefully once the game broadcasts start up this'll be rectified?
  22. I've never quite gotten into MLS--I've been a couple of times, and these days with all of the Fire games on TV it'd be easier, but it really just comes down to the fact that my summer months are so taken up by baseball, not to mention it's the meat of pro tennis season. Then there's also the international summer tournaments that I'm obviously going to prioritize over MLS--between the Euros AND Copa America (managed to get a hell of a deal on a venue pass for Soldier Field), I don't know how much attention I can pay to MLS this summer when it's third on the rung of soccer events, not to mention the other sports. I am going to the Fire-Crew game in a couple of weeks, though. Looking forward to it.
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Pathetic effort by Tottenham. First half was miserable. Not too worried, though. City and Arsenal dropped big points and I don't think any Spurs fans had three points written in for this fixture.
