"The White Sox, Black Holes, and Trading Quintana
3GamesToLove replied to Eminor3rd's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 12:59 AM) He is a right-handed Mark Trumbo. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 06:47 AM) I think it's a bit crazy to call him a "right-handed Mark Trumbo" because his numbers declined over the course of his rookie season. Also, there is the fact that Mark Trumbo is already a right-handed Mark Trumbo, and Schwarber is left-handed. -
Didn't play in 2015.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) Tonight, the Bulls are debuting gray, ugly, sleeved "Chicago Pride" jerseys to be worn 5 times this year. Ugh, I'm going tonight.

Cubs to start own cable network in 2020
3GamesToLove replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) I guess I shouldn't be surprised the Cubs only care about the big bucks instead of fans and viewership. Honestly, the Sox and Cubs are in the minority here. Most teams have the vast majority of their games on a cable network. I know the Cardinals are entirely on Fox Sports Midwest. -

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) Does anyone know how YES network works? Does it take like a third of games or something? I can't imagine all the games being on a Cubs network. YES has almost all of the games. There are maybe a dozen or so that's on an OTA network, but other than that it's all YES. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) Paul Sullivan @PWSullivan 4h4 hours ago Sox should keep Sale, bring back Buehrle for a Konerko-style farewell.http://fw.to/qBibDgU Does Sullivan realize that a "Konerko-style farewell" is not a desirable thing?

Bulls opener goes head-to-head with Game 1 of the WS. Damn. Better than last year when it was against Game 7, at least.
-
I love Joey Votto, but I don't want to be anywhere near that contract.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) Hypothetical elimination from a FB thread. Four Hall of Fame or future HOF guys that you can build your team with, but you can only take three of the four. Who do you leave off and what order would you take them? Michael Jordan Kobe Bryant Lebron James Magic Johnson I leave Kobe and it's not particularly close, though someone else can probably better explain it than me.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Clever domain name, but it looks weird. It's an "under construction" site with nothing on it but the logo. How does it "look weird?"

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 07:25 PM) Congrats to him, must be a crazy feeling to cover something and then go into affect it. To be fair, he had worked for teams in the past. I always got the impression that the writing was something to do until the next team came along. Not to say it wasn't high quality--it was really good and I enjoyed it a lot.

So...if I don't play online, is there almost no point in getting Battlefront? I'm looking to get a PS4 sometime this fall/winter and was looking at the bundles. I have crappy rural satellite internet with a 10GB monthly allotment, so online play is a non-starter for me.

QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 05:23 PM) Like putting up with s***ty teams for X amt of years is cool......i don't get it.....never have....never will I don't know, I think there is a bit of a badge of honor for toughing out futility. Of course, the Cubs don't have a monopoly on futility and misery, despite what they seem to think. Until '05 the Sox had a history just as futile. Who cares if the Cubs had gone 9 years longer? Everyone who really remembered either one were dead already anyway.

White Sox peripherally make news for Cub Hating

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) No Cub fans cheered the Sox in 2005. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) No Cub fans cheered the Sox in 2005, I agree There were some. That's where the term "Bisoxual" came from. Roeper talks about it in his book. -

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 9, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) Hopefully they lose in the most painful possible way. But then they can write books about it for years and years and years about the heroic tragedy. Wouldn't you rather they meekly get swept by the Cardinals and kind of forget about it? -
QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 11:14 PM) It really sucks never watching the Sox play postseason baseball Sure, but on the other hand it's nice to be able to watch high-stakes intense baseball without having to worry about the anxiety that goes along with having your own team involved.
-
QUOTE (Coach @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:18 AM) Dick, I didn't say play Shuck everyday. Put him into the full time DH slot. All his numbers are better. That is literally every day. If you think JB Shuck should be a full-time DH on a major league team...I don't know what to tell you.
-
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) You changed your mind in less than 2 hours.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) It is probably far easier to hire a part-time guy if he doesn't have to travel. From the Sox perspective, this is probably a lot better deal than Scully's arrangement with LA Good point; hadn't considered that.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 10:24 PM) Now the Sox CAN sign him!! Trade one of our lefty starters and sign Mark on the cheap for 1-2 years! This is a bad idea.
-
Best game of the year for me: having awesome seats in section 131 to see Sale strike out 14 Astros in Carlos Correa's major league debut.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) So is Baines. And Frank and Paulie. It just so happens they had great pitchers throughout team history That's true. Probably an outfield of Minoso, Shoeless Joe, Baines. So, five of the nine players (including a DH) in the all-time lineup are post-1980. Relax, greg.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) I just get sick of any lists of all time Sox greats and having the list ALWAYS permeated by the old, old timers. I know Wilbur Wood is modern but he is no Mark Buehrle. Cmon. Wilbur Wood isn't in the discussion. I mean if we make a list of all time sox greats, almost all of them will be from the Joe Jackson era or up til 1960. It's not like we have the history of the Yankees. There's room to praise heavily the Buehrles, Baineses, Fisks, Venturas, McDowells, etc. Ventura and Fisk are probably starters on the all-time team, so... Also, you really don't think Wood deserves to be in the same conversation as Buehrle? I'd love to read your analysis.
