QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 30s30 seconds ago #Cubs trade Chris Coghlan to #Athletics for RHP Aaron Brooks. So who backs up Derrick Rose now?

WLS Spring Schedule?
QUOTE (SmashROT @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Does anyone know if these game will come over the WLS Station on the Simple Radio app? Or is there a blackout for internet based radio apps? Definitely a blackout, though spring training might work differently.

White Sox sign Jimmy Rollins
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) So you think that Rollins is still in his prime? I guess he could be, but it seems unlikely as he's already 37 years old. This is off-topic, but this signing pretty much wipes out the chance of the Sox going after Desmond, right? This is a minor league deal. Those were all major league deals/trades involving prospects. Dunn and arguably LaRoche also doesn't belong on that list, either. Nor Jones, neither.

All New Soccer Thread ~ All Levels ~ All Leagues
As a Spurs fan who studied in Leicester back in 2010 the top of the table is crazy for me right now. Let's do this.

Vacation/Travel Thread.
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 22, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) Quebec City is beautiful. It's basically a European city in North America. If you're referring to the province of Quebec, then including Montreal is even better. Lots of stuff to do and very interesting culturally from the rest of the country/continent. I don't know anything about the Pacific NW but I've been to Quebec a few times and it does not disappoint. Yeah, we were thinking all of Quebec--probably mostly Montreal with a couple days in Quebec City.

Vacation/Travel Thread.
Getting married this July--but we're not going to do a full/big honeymoon until summer 2017. Neither of us are beach people at all and are more into cultural sights...we've narrowed it down to two options: Quebec or the Pacific Northwest. Any thoughts? Obviously not your typical honeymoon destination so anyone who's travelled there in general would be appreciated. We're also looking at just doing a couple of days to get away for a "mini-moon" this summer. We were thinking of Galena, or Lake Geneva...something not too far away from Northern IL. Any other suggestions there?

Music and more Music
Brian Wilson playing Pet Sounds at Pitchfork is amazing news. I'm getting married a week before and we're both big fans--Pet Sounds is featured heavily in our wedding music. We were already planning on doing a mini-moon during that week (doing a full honeymoon to either Quebec or the Pacific Northwest in 2017). She also likes Sufjan Stevens a lot. I've got a few months to do some prep, so looking forward to it. I've only been once before--to see Belle & Sebastian in 2013, and enjoyed that a lot.

Cedar Rapids TV station again will air all WGN games
I've said this before... This is great information. But I don't think we need a separate thread for each city/market/channel. Maybe just keep one thread about local affiliates airing WGN/WPWR games?

What's the best way to build an MLB club (Keri)
This is almost two years old, for what it's worth. Though it looks like Jonah revisited it in this week's Hot Takedown podcast?

What is your favorite ballpark food?
It used to always be a hot dog with grilled onions and mustard, but since I've been diagnosed celiac I've been swearing by the Tex-Mex nachos.

The Story of Soxtalk?
QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) I've only listened a couple times but that was all I needed with the Catbird Speaks podcast. On the other hand, the SSS podcast is outstanding. Great guests. Good analysis. Professional sound to it. Josh and Jim do a very good job. I enjoy Catbird Speaks because of how irreverent and unslick it is. It feels like you're listening to (the good parts of) White Sox twitter.

The Story of Soxtalk?
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Can anyone help me remember the sox podcast around 2009-10-11 that was two younger dudes, lots of swearing, and in 2010 they had an excellent run of podcasts trying to end our losing start with different hexes? Obscure, and I don't know what else to search. Pale and Hosed, probably. That was a good show, when it was around. I think life got in the way as it wound up being pretty sporadic at some point. I think they started in 2010. Good guys; I used to talk to them a lot on FB when they first started. There was another podcast called Oral Sox from around the same time. That one was less good, IMO, but I listened for a while. EDIT: apparently those guys were around as late as August 2014 as "35th and Shields." Now that we have both the SSS pod and The Catbird Speaks, we're in good shape. Two very different shows with different styles. Not to mention FutureSox.

The Story of Soxtalk?
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Seems a lot of posters jumped ship from WSI way earlier than I did. I only did so after the 2014 season. Looking back I can't believe I stayed that long. I was around the same time, though in my case it was a banning. SephClone89. Who are you?

White Sox Sign Mat Latos
QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) This is dope... Whoever does the new photoshop work at mlbtr is really talented. They must've been a global change. At first I thought they just kept the pants, but those are road pants, at Marlins Park. He didn't pitch in Miami after the trade to the Dodgers...unless this is from another year.

Ozzie Guillen
Just a clarification: Ozzie is managing a Venezuelan club, not the Venezuelan national team.

Orioles DO NOT Sign Fowler
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) CWS are gona sign them for what they want not what they want or they won't sign them at all. Good luck with Avi this year lol This makes my head hurt.
-
Orioles DO NOT Sign Fowler
Comp pick or not, I think you have to jump at the chance to get Fowler for something in the range of 2 years, $20m. That's a really cheap way to make your team a lot better.

Keith Law releases annually farm system rankings
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) What's funny is the Sox system was #12 last year, and people STILL insisted the Sox had an atrocious farm system. Imagine where we would have been ranked had we not traded our #3, #4, #5 potentially in the Frazier deal. Probably top 15. I think even then, the consensus was that while the system had strong players, it was quite top-heavy. Not a lot of depth, which we can see now that guys have either graduated or been traded.

White Sox sign Travis Ishikawa
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) I'd even go to High A as a possibility for a starting spot, though no higher than B-ham. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) That was I think Sahadev maybe, and it goes against what the club has said previously. All the indications I've seen are he's in AA to start the year. Just looked it up again: it was Mau Rubio.

White Sox sign Travis Ishikawa
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 08:37 AM) As it stands (and I know these things change) that Charlotte roster looks rough. I guess Anderson is the only real prospect who figures to be there to start the year. I guess they'll figure a way to shove all of the Olts and Ishikawas into Charlotte. The major league roster doesn't room for a corner infielder bench player. One prospect website I read the other day (might've been BA, might've been 2080) mentioned expecting Fulmer to start in Charlotte. That sounds a little aggressive; I think he'll get a few starts in AA first.

If The Sox Moved
I'm a little surprised by all of the people who are saying they'd start following the Cardinals. I mean, I understand that being the Cubs' archrival and being tremendously successful is probably part of it, but they're not THAT close, and also have one of the more obnoxious and self-righteous fanbases in all of sports. And jumping from the Sox to such a successful franchise wouldn't exactly feel right. And you'd have to deal with Mike Shannon on radio. Yeesh.
