QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 12, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) Maurico Pochetinno agrees to a 5 year contract to stay manager for Tottenham -
We're doing Quebec (mostly Montreal) for ours, though for March that might not be ideal.

I'm not much into football these days, but my fiancee is. I've taken her to some preseason games in the 200 level the last couple of years. Those are kind of relaxing and fun but I'd like to take her to a regular season game sometime since I'm always taking her to baseball/basketball games. From StubHub, looks like the game gainst Tennessee in late November is by far the most affordable (aside from Christmas Eve). I can get in for under $100, which seems unheard of from what I've seen in the past. Is the 400 level really bad? What if it's within the first 15 rows? Is it worth the upgrade to get into 300? I'd like to stay under $150 if possible.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) That's not really ironic, lol. That's just a similar occurrence from a game that happened a long time ago and Ventura happens to be the manager. Correct. Coincidence =/= irony.

I've been going with "YARD GOES FRAZIER" And yeah, I'm under 30. I think anyone with any sense of sports history will get the reference, guys.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 9, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Do they have the same equipment then? Sure seems like games on the U look like a garbage factory. Psst...they're not on the U anymore.

Jackson is fine, but short of a major bounceback with his bat he's not a guy you sign long-term.

Cleveland outdrew us? Attendance down 13% so far

Why don't the Sox draw as well as the Cubs? Well, there are many reasons, one of which is that there aren't as many Sox fans as there are Cubs fans. And that's fine. I don't care if the thing(s) that I like are the most popular. -

New scoreboard "will change game experience"
3GamesToLove replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Finally made it to my first game this season after getting rained out two weeks ago. The boards look great, but the content is lacking. With all of that real estate, there is NO reason why they only stats I get for the batter is AVG, HR, RBI like it's 1952. Triple slash should be mandatory--all of the other parks with new boards have this up constantly. (Miller and Wrigley, to name the local competition) Even the old boards would have these up on the RF one, though it was hard to read and you'd have to wait for the stats to cycle through. Similarly, I sould also be able to see K/9, K/BB, FIP, etc for pitchers. But really, an absolute joke. I shouldn't need to pull up my phone to look up a guy's OBP and SLG in 2016 when we have brand new $7m video boards. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:01 AM) Great win. With Latos and Sale pitching like aces we should have this type of record. Quintana--now overshadowed by Mat Latos?
-
It's amazing that the Sox have Eaton and Quintana, who are basically Heyward and Lester, for about 15% of the salary.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) I said the same thing. Those are great. Camo needs to go though. Not only is the camo aesthetically gross, it's completely tone-deaf for Memorial Day. It's not about cheerleading the armed forces--it's a somber day of remembrance. Wear a poppy or a black armband.

To be fair, almost EVERY April (especially if there's been a comeback win of any kind) people say stuff like "this is the type of game the Sox lost last year. This team has some fight! This feels different!" Small sample size theatre!

April is my favorite time for baseball when I want to watch every game, and yeah f*** hockey. Granted, I'll be the same person watching some US Open night session matches over baseball come August/September, not to mention some Copa America matches and some later rounds of the NBA playoffs in June. But still, f*** hockey. -
Anyone ever taken a Sox minors road trip through the South? With new parks in Birmingham and Charlotte it's tempting. I assume the schedule is an issue, but it's probably relatively simple to do Kanny/Charlotte/Winston-Salem, right? The swing over to Birmingham is where it'd get tough, though maybe you could cross the new Braves park off the list while doing it. Some day...

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) I give the Sox literally no chance of winning this game. Even if they really are going to compete for this division there is no way they win this game today. Uhhhh -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) Guys had a day off yesterday, they to need to show up and punch the Twins in the mouth. I'd rather not deal with a rash of suspensions at this point of the season. -
The straight doubleheader is a cool thing and is obviously rare, but we did have one just last year against the Reds. My friend and I had tickets for the Saturday already, then Friday got rained out, so we got two games for the price of one. And that price was just $5 apiece because I'd used my vouchers from the previous fan appreciation day. That was a fun day (SouthSideSox meetup, too), though cold. Cueto pitched well int he first game, then Rodon made his first start in the second one. On the other hand, I also went to a straight doubleheader in 2013. I want to say it was the same day as the Blackhawks parade, if memory serves. That day sucked, and I'd bought those in advance and was really looking forward to it. Anyway, I had tickets for today. My dad and I made it to the park and were in the team store when they made the announcement. We lucked out that it was made up as a straight DH, meaning that our tickets can be exchanged for ANY game!

Favorite Sox player to wear each number
3GamesToLove replied to cabiness42's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Lau thing is bizarre. Classic Reinsdorf White Sox...if you're going to retire it, they should have retired it in the 80s. Now it's just a weird thing. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) This guy runs some hitting facility and tweeted this to Jon Heyman. Canyonside Cages @DavidRing4 19h19 hours ago San Diego, CA @JonHeyman ⚾️Talked to James Loney Padres, White Sox, Angels, Yankees & Tigers interested. Has family in San Diego and they need hitting. I don't care if they're family. Violence isn't the answer.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) I noticed that in his commercial, the retired numbers are still behind home plate. It must have been shot a while ago? It sounds like they are still located behind homeplate, and the mural/artwork is in addition, not a replacement. Which is a good thing.
