QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) He should revolt against all star game , signing autographs with kids, and national anthem too. What do they have to do with winning? The toddler mind can't handle them. In his mind, signing autos for kids on a day he doesn't play, doesn't effect his ability to play. Being asked/told to wear something uncomfortable on a day he is playing, is a different story. He cares about his work. I'm 37 by the way.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) I am dumbfounded that sale has any support here. #teamsale #imwithhim The dude cares more about winning then some marketing event. And quite frankly he's one of the only guy's on this team that's performed day- in/out during the multi-year s*** storm. Reminds me of that scene in Vegas vacation. "I'm tired of this s***. I want something better!!!"

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2016 -> 07:57 AM) Yes and you could have easily spent a lot more than that. You didn't buy any food/drink for yourself. No beers. No Cokes for anybody. Had dinner at Portillos before we went. Was shocked at the concession prices... Definitely not minor league prices for food. ? In fact was shocked at the spring training prices too. As a kid, I swear I remember that those games were a lot less expensive all around. (Food, tix, etc)

Live example. Got 3 comp tickets to the Kane county Cougars game on Friday night. Paid the $5 for parking. Spent $5 in the kids zone. Bought a snow cone for the kid and the wife got a churro. Total amount spent was $20. Daughter caught a foul ball, her first ever. Fixed costs vs variable costs. The Cougars got $20 from me and it didn't cost them anything to do it.

I remember reading/seeing this town hall a few weeks ago. The timing is unreal. “I just came from a meeting today in the situation room, in which I’ve got people who we know have been on ISIL websites, living here in the United States, U.S. citizens,” Obama said at the town hall, using another name for the Islamic State group. “And we’re allowed to put them on the no-fly list when it comes to airlines, but because of the National Rifle Association, I cannot prohibit those people from buying a gun.” “This is somebody who is a known ISIL sympathizer, and if he wants to walk into a gun store or a gun show right now and buy as many weapons and ammunition as he can, nothing’s prohibiting him from doing that even though the FBI knows who he is,” the president said. The scenario Obama described as a possibility has now come true. Omar Mateen, 29, bought a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun less than a week before he killed around 50 people at a gay nightclub in Florida. Mateen had been investigated by the FBI twice — once in 2013 and again in 2014 — but was still legally allowed to obtain the weapons.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 03:32 AM) Yet you wouldn't have said that a few weeks ago, no? If you would've told me on April 4th that on June 5th the Sox would be 1 game over .500 and 2.5 games out of first I would've said sign me up. If you would've told me they were in 1st and 10 games over .500 in May I would've said pass the pipe. As much as I want the FO to do something I think it would just be red meat to angry fans at this point. I know I'm pissed off and want something to change. But honestly, the only thing we all want to see changed is that they start winning more. If they fire Robin and hand the keys to Renteria or someone else and start winning, then I'll admit I was wrong and be happy....but I really don't think changing managers is going to change this team. They should've done it at the end of last season, if at all. You're right. But as a manager, it's easy to manage when times are good and everything's clicking. It's when times are bad, your true talents/skills shine. (Or don't in this case)
-
The players aren't performing for this manager. He isn't bringing out the best in them. Like any other profession, if the employees aren't focused and are slacking off, that's a management problem. Robin actually reminds me of my college coach. He took the approach that we were "adults" and could self-manage and be self-disciplined. In the end we slacked off, took the easy road and greatly under performed.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 05:02 PM) I've been seeing a lot of people posting negative stuff about Avi lately . Are you all just echo machines reposting what you see others posting ? Avi is, at least right now, one of the Sox lesser problems . If you look at who among the Sox is best with runners in scoring position you would discover Avi is the best on the Sox with a .988 OPS. Abreu has the most AB s on the team in that kind of situation and his OPS is a paltry .535 . The Sox are in no position offensively to get rid of their most productive hitter with runners in scoring position. If anything Avi should be getting more time in the middle of the order. Yeah I don't get the avi hate either. Hasn't been great but certainly better than the alternatives. 2/5 in this series.
